Summary: Absolutely Hilarious!
Review: I picked up the book at my local library and literally could not put it down. The book follows the adventures of Rebecca "Becky" Bloomwood a financial journalist who just cannot seem to get her own finances in order due to a little shoping addiction she has. It is so funny to read how she gets herself into and out of so much debt. I really identified with Becky and how she would dread to open her Visa statements. Highly reccomended to all shopaholics and recovering shopaholics!

Summary: As a shopaholic myself...
Review: I rather identified with the book, even though nowadays I can (thankfully!) afford it more or less...

I'd like to start with what I DIDN'T like about this book. This seems to be just another one of those 'British Girls' books like Bridget Jones, etc. that seem to be flooding the book market lately. All of them are centered around a 30 year old (give or take a few years), her love life, and often something extra (weight in Bridget's case, money in Rebbeca's, etc), their collection of friends / foes (which is amazingly similar...) and all their problems are magically solved when they get together with the 'Perfect Guy' (the same guy they despised in the beginning of the book, but throughout it discover their attraction and beging a love / hate relationship with him up until the happy ending...), preferably after some great sex...

Although I really didn't like Bridget Jones's story (probably because I couldn't identify with someone so desperate), I took a chance and read it, after the clerk in the book store reccomended it as a very funny book... Which it is - I still smile when I remember Rebbecca's curry, or her museum visit...

The bottom line is that this is an ordinary but very funny book.

Summary: I've never laughed so hard at a book....
Review: I have never laughed so hard while reading a book as I did with Confessions....
I highly entertaining novel about a women who tries to cut back on her expenditures. While cutting back she finds one excuse after another to spend more money. It's highly entertaining and witty. Excellent book!!! My favorite part? The letters at the beginning of the chapters written from her band. A wonderful book!

Summary: Shopaholic
Review: I have not enjoyed a book this much in quite some time. While it is an extrememly light read, I thought it was well written & quite humorous. The main character was very likeable & you felt your heart pound each time she made a purchase & was been sought after by her creditor. It's a book you can digest extremely fast & leaves you wanting more!

Summary: Fun, but nothing that special
Review: Confessions of a Shopaholic is a book I can heartily recommend if you're looking for a light read. It screams "beach read." I read it in a few hours. I did like the main character of Becky. I thought she was funny and she had a certain charm to her. I could relate to her obsession with shopping, although I'm glad mine doesn't go quite as far! The book is fast paced, and it genuinely did make me laugh out loud on quite a few occasions. Kinsella is quite a clever, articulate writer; I literally cringed for Becky at times. The author really got me caught up in the action; I felt as though I was there, spying on someone. Given how talented she is, I would like to Kinsella her try some serious fiction in the future.

The downside to this book is that it is very fluffy - more so than it needed to be. I understand that Kinsella was going for a comic novel, and I still believe she could've explored the issue of Becky's compulsive spending in a bit more depth. Even Bridget Jones was introspective at times. Kinsella didn't do that with Becky enough, and when she did it didn't ring true - it seemed tacked on. I found that the novel was predictable at times, although this didn't bother me as much as it has with other books.

In general, I think that this is a book that most single women in their 20s and early 30s will enjoy. It is fun, quick, and lighthearted. I would recommend buying the book used if you can, because it isn't the kind of book that I could imagine rereading. It's as light as air, or cotton candy, and once it's finished, it is easily forgotten.

Summary: A story about a girl a lot like me!
Review: I enjoyed this book from beginning to end, and was left wanting more after the last page! Becky Bloomwood is endearing and so easy to identify with. This book also made me feel better about dealing with my own financial situation. I am no longer afraid to talk to someone about making payments. It is empowering! I can't wait to read the next book.

Summary: Shopaholic Anonymous
Review: This book is great for anyone that knows the trials and tribulations of being addicted to shopping! Reading this book made me aware that I am not alone...even if she lives all the way on the other side of the world! Shopping is the same everywhere! My favorite line: "Everyone would be so much happier if they could just wear a new outfit everyday." So true!!

Summary: A MUST READ!
Review: This book is the most amazing book I have ever read in my life. Usually, reading for me is a chore, but when I borrowed this book from my sister I was hooked! I couldn't put it down and ran out to buy Shopaholic Takes Manhattan as well. My mother also read the two, and we all laughed together at the schemes she tries to pull. A hilarious book! Can't wait to grab another one of Sophie Kinsella's amazing pieces of work. Garenteed laughter, unless your just a deadbeat.

Summary: Confessions of a Shopaholic
Review: My cousin gave me this book & I thought it would make a good, light read. Well, can I just say that I was pleasantly suprised to find that it was very hard to put down! It really was that good. I laughed out loud many, many times. Thank goodness I live in NYC, where behavior like that, when you are alone on a crowded commuter train, won't even raise an eyebrow!

Sophie Kinsella's style of writing is very enjoyable, you really got into Rebecca's head. You felt all of her fears, insecurities and triumphs right along with her. For me, that's the most important quality for an author to achieve in his or her story, regardless of how light the topic is.

Two thumbs up!

Summary: A fun, entertaining read.
Review: I picked up this book during a very hectic time, and it turned out to be just what I needed, a fun, light-hearted escape.
You will enjoy rooting for Rebecca from page one. As a reformed shopoholic, this book made me laugh out loud constantly as I remembered doing just about everything Rebecca did! Happy
reading!
