Rating: Summary: A Hysterical Glimpse Into the Life of a Shopaholic.... Review: This book was alot funnier than I imagined it would be. Talk about having a bad month or year, this character has the worst year you could imagine and I couldn't help but wince and feel for her and most times laugh at the way she bumbles her way through her mistakes. Becky Bloomwood is someone we could all identify with. A realife personality with real problems. Her main problem? Shopping. And way too much of it to be exact. I love to shop, but wow, this character goes way beyond what I wouldn't even dream of doing. When she admits to having this major impulse to buy, buy and buy more you smirk at the way she rationalizes it, but at times you feel like shaking her and saying, you just can't afford this Becky! Becky is being chased by letters from VISA, angry ones and she is being harassed by her bank and stalked by her creditors. What can she do? Buy something. That's it. She just needs a little something to make herself feel better until she can get this under control. But in the aftermath she realizes that she is in even deeper trouble than before. With a job as a Financial Journalist, she doesn't make nearly enough to pay these bills off. The bitter irony is, she writes articles on how other people can SAVE money.... Becky tries cutting back, spending less, doing odd jobs to make more, but nothing seems to work. She is in deep. The writer weaves a tale that is so engrossing and real, that I winced when she recieved her bills and I felt ashamed with her when she made excuses and tried to lie to the banks. I was tense at times when she embarassed herself or got caught in a lie or fabrication. Becky knows she spends too much, but can't stop until something changes her life for good and she must grow up and take responsibility. We see her hurtle towards impending disaster, fall to the bottom of the barrel and pick herself up again and become a new person.Very entertaining and way too much fun to miss. This one is a keeper! Rating: Summary: Confessions of a Shopaholic Review: Much like Becky Bloomwood, I am a journalist (fortunately not financial) who adores the fine art of shopping. Discovering a great deal is cause for celebration for both myself and Becky - camel leather Kate Spade heels for $26 on clearance at TJ Maxx? -got those this week! From the first time I read this fine literary work to the last time (which was the fifth) I find myself wishing that Becky Bloomwood really existed and was my best friend. From her hilarious justifications for hiding zebra stiped jeans, to her love of champagne, mile high heels and sexy Luke Bradon, Becky Bloomwood exemplifies the girl that most 20-somethings would love to be, minus her debt, of course! I would recommend this book to any girl who adores a light hearted, satisfying read - and of course, any stylish girl that loves to shop. Ditto for Shopaholic Takes Manhattan.
Rating: Summary: A SO-SO READ Review: The book started off slow and by the time it got interesting...it ended really quickly. I am a shopaholic myself and to be honest the way that Rebecca squandered her money was almost unbearable to even myself. towards the end the character started to redeem herself and make up for the first 150 pages but ended soon enough to know that there had to be a sequel. overall the book was ok but at many times really dreadful.

Rating: Summary: There's more to this character than just shopping! Review: What a fun book! It was quite the page-turner, and I finished it 2 days. Sophie Kinsella has a nice stream-of-consciousness writing style, and I really fell in love with her character Rebecca Bloomwood. "Becky" has got some flaws, yes, but her heart is in the right place. Some of the passages of her going on & on about what she bought & how she's going to juggle things to pay for it get a bit long-winded, but that's a minor complaint. One more small complaint is the lack of physical description for the characters. I don't think we are ever told what Becky looks like. I just ended up picturing her as the author- since there is a photo of Ms. Kinsella on the back of the book. The rest of the characters' physical descriptions are scant as well & I never got clear pictures in my head of them- something that I, and most other readers I would think, like to do. What I really loved about "Confessions of a Shopaholic," is that it wasn't just another run of the mill "day-in-the-life-of..." frothy confection. It had some meat to it- Becky learns some valuable lessons, & I loved the cat-and-mouse romance between her and Luke Brandon. (Very Bridget & Mark-esque!) I've read almost every book about single British women looking for love that has been released since "Bridget Jones' Diary." "Confessions of a Shopaholic" is one of the few that deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Bridget.
Rating: Summary: Loved this book! Review: I don't read much fiction, but needed a distraction and something funny to read, and this seemed right up my alley! I read straight through it -- which I only do with books that truly interest or entertain me. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next! Very funny tale of someone I can easily identify with -- someone who seems like such a real person. I plan to purchase the rest of the books in this series to find out how things go with Rebecca.
Rating: Summary: Tart and Tasty Treat Review: This book is surprisingly sharp for a novel with "Shopaholic" in the title. It's fluffy brit-chick lit that won't insult your intelligence. Unlike others of its genre, Shopaholic's not so plot-driven that you have to plow through to the end to feel satisfied. Each of Becky's escapades is an episode to savor.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't stop laughing Review: I couldn't stop laughing because this is every girl I know rolled up into one very, very loveable character. I didn't stop laughing much, especially at the antics that Becky goes through just to shop. She has no shame about her love of shopping...okay, maybe a little. When you have to remind yourself that these people do not exist, I think you've got a hit.
Rating: Summary: HILARIOUS! Review: This is by far one of the funniest books I have ever read. Eventhough most of the heroin's actions are shallow, and superficial, I think almost every woman can relate to her on some level. Sophie Kinsella is a fabulous author who knows how to write lovable characters you want to root for. Bring on all of the shopoholic books!
Rating: Summary: A LAUGH OUT LOUD! Review: This is my absolute FAVORITE BOOK EVER! I caught myslf numerous times trying to suppress a giggle! If you love fashion and glamour - with oodles of comedy - buy this now!
