Summary: A little of Becky in all of us...
Review: If you want to read a book that will keep you laughing all the way to the end, then pick this one up. You'll love the next book "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan" as well!

Summary: Great Book
Review: Confessions of a Shopaholic was a great book. I think that anyone who has ever bought something without first checking their bank account can relate to this story. It is incredibly funny and the main character is endearing yet neurotic. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you won't be able to put it down!

Summary: Hey, fairy tale or not...it's funny as ....
Review: I am an avid reader. Mostly I read among the horror, suspense, and mystery novels which I have read for quite awhile. My sister, a non-reader, held this book in her hands and told me to read it, cinsidering the fact that this is so different from my usual selection of books. I am truly not a shopper. I am unfamilar with the brands that the main character, Rebecca Bloomwood, often chooses throuh. But beside those facts, this book is absolutly hilarious. Sure, it's not realistic but it will make you laugh. You may not be a shopper but I can garauntee you will yell at Becky's stupidity and laugh at the consequences. This book is appealing and will come as a cute book you can venture when you have not often read books such as these. This is truly an enlightening read and will make your day.

Summary: Funny, addictive book
Review: Once I started this book, I was hooked. I'm a recent confessed shopaholic and this book thrilled me (I lived vicariously through Becky). I understand Rebecca Bloomwood's passion for non-stop shopping. Becky is hillarious, passionate and witty. It's a light, easy read that will have you smiling and laughing out loud. She's a financial journalist with a shopping habit. You will love the book and will want to read more ("Shopaholic Takes Manhattan" is fantastic too!). I'm definitely passing it on to my girlfriends. Keep writing about Becky, Sophie. I can't wait to read your latest book in March 2003!

Summary: Reading Lite
Review: I was in the mood for lite and easy and that's just what I got. A fast reading paperback I could stuff in my bag, read on the subway and get through quickly. I found Becky to be spoiled, bratty and no one I could relate to. I did not feel that she deserved her fairy tale ending either. It was all just too patt and easy for her.

Summary: Fun read with a message
Review: In most ways, I am not like Becky Bloomwood, the shopping-obsessed, debt-ridden heroine of _Confessions of a Shopaholic_. I don't care that much about designer labels and my finances are under control. I also found Bloomwood's naiveté and overall lack of responsibility for her situation annoying. But I could relate to the crux of her problem.

She used shopping to distract herself from an unfulfilling career. Although competent at her job as a financial reporter, she had no enthusiasm for what she was doing. Until she finds something to be passionate about, she buys things to fill an emotional void.

When she stumbles onto a news story that she truly cares about, her interest in buying things suddenly fades. I see this phenomenon occurring in my own life. As I am moving away from a long-time career that, while offering certain perks, is ultimately not satisfying, I'm feeling less pull toward other addictive-like behaviors. With true enthusiasm about something (such as a new career or interest), I believe there's less need to console ourselves with unhealthy diversions.

This book is a quick, escapist read, with many similarities to _Bridget Jones's Diary_ (witty, young English woman with job and romance problems, dysfunctional parents, etc.). In a fun way, it also underscores the need for us all to find something in life to be excited about. Then you'll find yourself on your right path, and things will start to fall into place.

Summary: Laugh-out-loud funny
Review: It's rare that I'll laugh out loud while reading on public transportation, but Sophie Kinsella's Becky Bloomwood is so darn funny, I just couldn't control myself. Her attitudes about shopping are so easy to identify with -- especially if you're an urban career girl! I immediately bought Shopoholic Takes Manhattan, the second book, and managed to borrow a galley of the upcoming Shopoholic Ties The Knot from a fellow editor. I hope Kinsella writes many more Becky Bloomwood tales, because I'll be the first in line to buy them!

Summary: A one day-er
Review: Certainly entertaining, but why do all of these Bridget Jones read-alikes end up in television? At least one could have aspirations besides being a tan, thin, pretty talking head with a cute boyfriend. That notwithstanding, anyone who likes clothes and needs a good airplane book should consider Becky.

Summary: A Confession of fun!
Review: I thought this book was hilarious! I could not put it down and quickly bought "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan" after I finished the first installment. Becky is very human, very female and I think many women can relate to her addiction. I recommended this book to many of my friends and I know they loved this book as much as I did. Very similar to Bridget Jones but I found "Confessions" more entertaining. A must read!

Summary: Just charming!!
Review: I love Becky!! She is an absolute scream. I could relate to so much of this book. Becky, while seemingly always in over her head, still manages to maintain a good outlook and a positive view. The character keeps a running commentary in her head justifying her purchases, and kept me laughing out loud. Also, highly recommend the sequel, Shopaholic takes Manhattan
