Summary: Why would anyone think this was good?
Review: I don't understand all the people who rave about this book. It is absolutely one of the worst books ever written. I would have given it no stars at all if I could.

The main character is a completely self-absorbed, shallow, individual who is obsessed with how she looks and the brand names of her clothing. She epitomizes everything wrong with capitalism today.

The passages where she has to buy that new thing, whatever it is, and doesn't have her card with her and so has to rearrange her entire day and put her job in jeopardy just to get it, is disturbing, not funny.

The whole time I was reading this book I kept saying to myself, "Now, I know that was supposed to be funny, but instead, I find it to be disgusting, disturbing and I think the main character needs a shrink not another pair of Prada shoes!".

If you are looking for a "fun" read, as most seem to think this book is, I recommend you look elsewhere.

Summary: GREAT! FUNNY! THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD!
Review: lOVED IT! I am addicted to Becky Bloomwood! The book is funny with just the right amount of (okay, so it's a tiny amount) suspense. I have her, and every other character, pictured in my head and can't want to see what she can screw up next! Keep 'em coming, Ms. Kinsella!

Summary: Had Me Cracking Up ~
Review: I have heard so many good things about these Shopaholic Series, So I wanted to read what all the fuss was about and I am sure glad I did. Conffessions Of A Shopaholic had me cracking up I could not put this book down and when I did it was just to catch my breath. I just love Becky Bloomwood, she made me laugh with all the things she was getting herself into, Even though I am not a Shopaholic Becky makes you feel what she is feeling about maxing her criedt cards and how crazy she felt with hoping to win the lottery and thinking her numbers would come up how many times have we said we are going to win the lottery our numbers are going to come up and when they don't we think something is wrong with the lotto machine and then we try to find some other way to make money. I am telling you I could not stop laughing if you want a good laugh I highly recommend this book or you want to read a really good book, you won't be disppointed, now I can't wait to Shopaholic Takes Manhattan so that I can continue reading about Becky and Luke.
Happy Reading Lisa

Summary: great stuff
Review: this book, is funny, clever, witty, and the ultimate page turner. once you read this you will yearn to read the rest of the series and find out what happens to this funloving but a little crazy character.

Summary: Has someone been peeking at my mail
Review: True confession: Like Becky Bloomwood, I am raging shopaholic and have been one since I got my first credit card back in my freshman year of college. And like Becky, sometimes my bills are in the scary range. Unlike Becky, I haven't stuffed my credit statements into a trashcan or written creative letters to my creditors. But I would love to romp through her closets!

Now onto the book. Becky Bloomwood is a single Londoner who works in publishing (yes, another one of THOSE). She may officially write for a magazine on sucessful saving and money management, but she truly spends more time in the shops, at press functions and in the image warehouse with her best work buddy "selecting" graphics for their magazines issues.

While on the way to a press function, Becky gets waylaid by a sale sign at her favorite (and exclusive) accessories store. Using her wiles and a wild tale to hunky Luke Brandon, Becky gets the scarf of her dreams. Well at least the scarf she dreams of for the moment.

But having the perfect scarf doesn't mean her life is in balance. Her bank manager wants to meet with her about her overdraft and her creditors are howling at the door. Her terrific flatmate offers to help but Becky can't bring herself to take advantage of the situation. Instead Becky decides to "cut back" and spend less with disasterous results.

Will Becky ever pull herself out of debt? Maybe. Will she find a boyfriend? Perhaps. Will she manage to come out on top at the end of the day? Yes.

For anyone who loves Marian Keyes or Wendy Holden, Sophie Kinsella is a must have.

Summary: If you're a shopper, you will relate
Review: This book was an awesome, funny read. If you want some lighthearted moments, spend a little time with "Bex." She will lift your spirits and give you a chuckle. Her relationship with her banker Mr. Smeath, or "Smeathie" is unforgettable!

Haven't we all rationalized that the item on sale actually "saves" us money? Haven't we all needed that extra pair of shoes in case of emergency? Kick off your shoes (the ones you got for a steal), sip some tea, and enjoy!

Summary: Good but...
Review: I was really look forward to reading this book, so I feel a bit let down. It wasn't as good as I was expecting. Half the time I wanted to smack the main character and ask what was she thinking only to read that she is not. I did enjoy the ending and will try to read the next one to see if it gets better now that she has a speck of common sense.

Summary: THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!
Review: I truly love this book! The never-ending story of "Bex" and her drastic measures of staying one step ahead of the game are in fact uproarious. It was so good that I could harldy put it down. You will just fall in love with all the characters. This is a wonderful novel that I reccommend to everyone. Sophie Kinsella creates an amazing story and gives a remarkable book to lift your spirits!!!

Summary: A sub-standard knockoff of Bridget Jones's Diary
Review: While I enjoyed certain aspects of this book, the thought that constantly hovered over me was, "this book is almost exactly the same as Bridget Jones's Diary!" Let's see, young single woman works a crappy job, has difficulty controlling various aspects of her life, is constantly lying and then getting caught in lies, hits rock bottom and then all of a sudden, quite miraculously by chance her whole life is turned around by a well-timed (and lucky) decision and simultaneously lands gorgeous millionaire....sound a bit like Bridget Jones? Yeah, I thought so too. The only difference is that BJD is so much funnier and more believable and more LIKEABLE. I can't see why this book was ever published. If you're in the market for a funny read go with Bridget Jones's Diary and the sequel, The Edge of Reason by Helen Fielding. Much, MUCH better.

Summary: Very Entertaining
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought it was a light and easy read. I enjoyed it so much that I read the other two Sophie Kinsella books. (Shopalohic takes Manhattan & Shopalohic ties the knot). This book was a great book and I'd read it again!
