Summary: Light entertainment
Review: I'm not much of a fluff reader in general, and while it would be difficult to compare Confessions of a Shopaholic to works of great literature, it certainly is an enjoyable read. The author keeps the tone light and the story flowing, and the British touch was charming. I definitely could empathize with the main character as well. This book certainly works well for light entertainment - perhaps it won't be a classic, but it's definitely worth reading.

Summary: My own biography
Review: I was looking at the best selling paperbacks section ... when the word "Shopaholic" caught my eye. "Has someone written a book about me?" I thought to myself as I picked up the book and flipped through the pages. I read the back and instantly fell in love with it, and I haven't even read a single page. Confessions of a Shopaholic was my life saver. I took it home and read it in one night (something else I enjoyed, it was a quick read). Becky Bloomwood is the fictional version of myself. I was laughing at her adventures through financial hell because honestly, I have been there too!! It's a wonderful book that any woman with the shopping bug will totally enjoy. Right after finishing it I passed it on to my fellow Shopaholic mother who agreed in saying that it was quite a delight to read.

Summary: Quick fun summer read
Review: In the summer, I love a good quick read. This has everythign I want in a summer book. Great plot but silly, great ending for a story, great fun for a read. If you don't want to sift through allusions or allegories this is the book for you!

Summary: ~*A non-put-downer*~
Review: I finished this book last nite!! I read it all in one day! It is by far one of the best books I've read in a long time! I'm not usually a frantic-type reader - reading a book in a day . . . but this was an exception! Sophie Kinsella really hit the head on the nail with this book. Even though I may not live in London, not understand some of the financial things mentioned, it does relate to real life. People are always finding themselves in binds, or secretly falling in love with someone, and people are always trying to make more money. Society proves we need more, which Becky Bloomwood knows a lot about. After she became aware of the financial bind she was in, she just can't seem to have any method of getting money to work for her. She's not doing too good trying to cut-back her spendings, but can't seem to find a way to make money. With some comedy, heart*brakes, and falling into love. . . this book has caught the attention and affection of mine and others. Will it catch yours?

Summary: Yawn......
Review: With all the glowing reviews of the "Shopaholic" trilogy I couldn't wait to dive in and see what the hype was all about! Unfortunately I'm still wondering.

I found this book to be completely BORING. Girl goes shopping, girl sees sales, girl tries not to spend so much, girl gets letters in the mail from credit card companies about her overspending.....blah blah blah blah blah. Samething over and over. It bored me so much that I gave up half way through and just skipped to the end.

Do yourself a favor; read "Jemima J" or "Scandalous Summer of Sissy LeBlanc" if you're looking for some GOOD/FUN chick lit!

Summary: Fun book I couldn't put down
Review: I enjoyed reading this book so much I couldn't put it down. It is a quick read and an enjoyable one. The other two are worth buying and reading. Sophie Kinsella is a great writer with so much humor and wit and her character Becky Bloomwood is funny and smart. Loved the book. I give the other 2 books a 5 star rating!!!

GO and READ it now!

Summary: Cofessions of a Shopaholic, Takes Man., and Ties the not!!
Review: All three of her books are hilarious. I absolutely love her humor and they were all such quick reads. I definitely recommend all three.
You will laugh hysterically and find that in some ways we are all like Rebecca Bloomwood. A++++
Terrific read!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Confessions from a Shopaholic to others
Review: This is probably the book of my life...really! I was hooked by the very first (or was it the second, anyway) page of it. It's hillarious, insightful, and (honestly) some times close-to-reality kind of story. It's an (almost) ordinary girl's story, only emphasized to the very humouristic side of it. I could not let the book down for a second. Thus, once i finished it, I had to go buy book 2 and 3 (it's always an investment, of course!). Well in two days (never happened to me before) I finished number 2, and in less than one I am in the middle of the third one. And English is not even my native language! It used to take me more than a month for a book half of the size of this one.
There's a lot in this book for every kind of person, even if you don't live in heavy traffic, capitalist cities. This book takes you in a journey through dead flat materialistic talk, to more phylosophical life-meaning search conversation type.
I'm hooked and waiting for a fourth story. It's your turn now...

Summary: From one Shopaholic to another
Review: I thought this book was very delightful. I myself am a shopaholic, I really related with the book. I just don't like the ending, sure it is a great "happy" ending, but not very realistic for the typical woman.

Summary: It's Fun...and Funny
Review: "Confessions of a Shopaholic" will never rank among the greatest achievements of literature. In all honesty, it's not nearly as clever as "Bridget Jones" with Jones' allusions to "Pride and Prejudice."

However, "Confessions of a Shopaholic" is a lot of fun. The story (plot may be overstating it) concerns Becky Bloomwood,a young financial journalist in London. She can tell other people how to save money-and she does, for a living. Yet she can't curtail her own spending one iota. The trials and tribulations of her trying to stop her shopping sprees are very funny: for example, a self help book which encourages her to "treasure and break bread with her friends" (and bread ends up being at a very posh restaurant). Of course, she has the inevitable romantic entanglements-in her case with two of Britain's wealthiest bachelors. And thus, she has her integrity tested.
If you like "chick lit," you should enjoy this book. It's lighter and frothier than "Bridget Jones" or "I Don't Know How She Does It"; it's also a faster read.
A great beach book...
