Summary: =)
Review: This book was so just hilarious and Sophia Kinsella just understands us girls and our shopping problems. So the main character Rebecca Bloomwood is a major shopaholic and the irony of it all is that she is a financial journalist. She has bills that she always pretends not to see makes up the strangest excuses not to call the bank for a meeting. But she tries to cut back but that doesn't work and makes her feel bad. What does she do then? Go shopping. When she tries to make more money and that doesn't work, what does she do? Go shopping. Some of the things that she tries to pay off her debts are just too great.
Even though she seems rather superficial and shallow at times judging people by what brand of clothes people wear, but she does have a heart. Somewhere in the book she had a great chance to pay off most of her debt but she didn't do it. So deep down inside she is a good person who just can't help her little habit like every other girl I know.
When I got this book I couldn't put it down. So if you're looking for a good book that's funny and interesting, get this book.

Summary: Turn into a movie
Review: This book was great! It was fabulous. I couldnt help buy book after book! I'm addicted to it and checking the bookstore almost everyday to see if there's something new!

If this were turn to a movie, I will definitely support it and I imagine Reese Witherspoon as Becky.

Wow...I can't imagine how good this will turn out to be!

Readers out there, if you are looking for a book to read and want to have a good laugh and cry be sure to opt for Shopaholic!

Summary: If you're looking for a shallow read
Review: Being a fan of the "Bridget Jones" genre of books, I decided to pick this book up after a friend recommended it. The first few chapters were interesting enough, but then the main character and her inability to control herself began to wear on my nerves. It's not a good sign when I have to put a book down because I find myself getting physically annoyed while reading it. I enjoyed books by authors like Helen Fielding and Jennifer Wiener because the give depth and intelligence to their characters. I don't think the idea of someone who places value only in material possessions - (ie shopping) makes for a character worth reading . This character is the reason why people stereotype women as flaky, shallow, and stupid, and frankly, I'm dissapointed in the book's author. Also, the romance was pretty unbelievable. I tried to see how this guy would find this woman interesting , but most of the men I know would just patronize her and act interested, without really being so. I definitely won't be reading the other books and I definitely won't be recommending this book to anyone else.

Summary: Excellent book, loved it!!!
Review: If you are addicted to shopping, but an avid reader, this is the book for you! I have read every book in the series, and am waiting somewhat impatiently for the fourth book to come out in March 2004. I love every book by Sophie Kinsella, what a great author!

Summary: I love this girl!
Review: First of all, I need to say that I love the heroine of this book, "Becky Bloomwood." I think she could honestly be my best friend, if she was real that is. Okay, maybe I took the book too seriously...Sophie Kinsella's writing style is wonderful. She flows from one thing to another without any breaks in the plot that leave you unfulfilled. She left me wanting more so I bought both of her other "Shopaholic" books and I LOVE them too.
It is the story of "Becky", a lovely English girl who writes financial columns who tends to get herself into humorous financial situations because of a slight shopping addiction. The ways she explains why she buys things are so funny I started crying because I , although not to her extent, have used some of these tactics on myself when shopping and justifying the need for certain items. Sophie Kinsella has a very sharp sense of humor in her writing. She is wonderful!!! I give this 5 stars and if I could give it more, I would.

Summary: Phenominal-- in a quirky, reality kind of way
Review: This books talks about your average gal: Rebecca (Becky) Bloomwood. Like any other girl, she loves to shop. Some of us girls shop moderately, but Becky takes it to an extreme! If it's in fashion, she has it! But there's one little problem when you take shopping to an extreme: you lose money. Becky's officially broke: her credit card bills literally follow her, and the people at VISA stalk her like she's their grub!
Rebecca decides it's time to take charge: she tries to become more careful with spending, and she tries to make more money. And soon, she comes up with a brilliant idea that will save her!

Summary: Almost as good as the real thing!
Review: 2 paragraphs into the book, I said to myself, "This book is so understanding of who I am." I immediately fell in love with it and all of the characters in it. The main character, Becky Bloomwood, justifies everything I am and love about myself and my life. I have already read the next 2 in the series, and felt exactly the same way. An excellent book for all who enjoy shopping, regardless for what, and lots of laughs!

Summary: Oh my gosh... is that MY daughter reading?
Review: Looking for a fun book? This is it if you LOVE shopping!!! It is also a great way to get your older teen or 20-something daughter to start reading again. Caution: there is some cursing and mature content, but less than in most PG-13 movies. We read the book together and stayed up late laughing all night.

Many of her friends have now read it and loved it. They started a book club and reading is now offically COOL. ;-)

We read the following two books as well. We would give the second book five stars, but the third book dragged a little so it only gets 3 & a half.
