Summary: Melt a good writer with good research and voila!
Review: The descriptions about middle-ages and time-travel are examples of good documentation. Besides the plot is not out of common, the writer's ability makes this book a good one.

If you are interested in History and Sci-Fi read it.

Summary: Boo! Garbage!
Review: Crichton has a habit of producing books that are either superb or utter rubbish. Timeline, though it has a premise of incredible potential, is uninspired and disappointing; it may even surpass Lost World in terms of dull heroes and unacceptable plot. By unacceptable, I mean that the reader is never able to completely suspend their disbelief and accept the situations the paper-chain characters find themselves in. I was also sad to see Crichton contradict his eloquent explanations of time travel in Sphere - a book more enjoyable because the science was better explained and incorporated.

If you had the power to go back in time, why go to France in the middle ages? Why not find out who really killed Kennedy and examine the life of Jesus, or bring back a dinosaur and start some sort of Jurassic park... oh, never mind.

Summary: A Marvelous Mix
Review: Another unique concept from Crichton's unbelievable boddy of knowledge. When I started reading, I expected archeology but was led into time travel. Now, I have avoided time travel because it is usually phony and phony resounds throughout the whole story. It's usually so concocked that the plot becomes a time traveler ie.way out there. But this story is a 180 degree switch. The methodology was fantastic, almost believable, why not? it seems plausible, possible and porttends the future. I could not put it down and read all night because I had to participate if even by reading if not in person. I was sad, glad, and mad when I finished ...Sad that it was all over; glad to have read it, and mad that it was longer or that I had read more slowly. It is really a fantastic story.

Summary: Great
Review: Increadible. Crichton scores again. I think Timeline is his best book since Sphere. If you liked most of his books, you'll love this one. The writing is great, the story is great, and it's as believable as Jurrasic Park. Wonderrul book.

Summary: Hmmm
Review: I like it, but I think this one is a one you must read twice.

Summary: Michael Crichton did it again!
Review: M.c.'s newest book, Timeline, is Crichton at his very best! The story has plenty of good guys and bad guys, both in and out of the fourtenth century, including Robert Doniger, Lord Oliver, Sir Robert DeKeere, and the general medieval terror. Doniger, the generally all-around jerk that owns ITC, is a brilliant physist.
Lord Oliver is an egoistic warlord, and his servants, Sir Robert and Sir Guy are evil, and our hero historians trapped in the fourteenth century must survive it. This book makes you wonder: Is it possible to travel to the past?

Summary: Crichton's best!
Review: I have read every single one of Michael Crichton's novels, and have come to the conclusion that Timeline is his best. Timeline has one of the most gripping storylines, which integrates scientific data and science fiction into a compelling plot. Although I do realize that if theoretic physics bores you, you might not find as much pleasure from reading it as I did. All in all, if you are a fan of Crichton, or are a fan of the science fiction genre, then you will love this novel.

Summary: Please tell me Crichton didn't write this!
Review: Read ANY of Crichton's other books, including his mediocre collection of memoirs, "Travels." This book never gets off the ground as Sphere, Congo, or Jurassic Park did so quickly. The plot and writing style are so different from normal Crichton work that I continually checked the front cover to make sure that I had not picked up another book of the same title by a different author. If you read any of Crichton's other works and loved them, read them again and save yourself the money on this one. I only decided to give this book 2 stars because I feel the Crichton deserves more, not to mention the fact that I don't give 1-star reviews.

Summary: One of Crichtons best.
Review: Timeline has to be on of Micheal Crichtons best works ever. This book grabs you right from the start and pulls you into a very sspensefull plot. The plot to this book is so incredibly thought out. It so great to read along and see how everything fits together. The characters in the story are also very well written and you can really relate to them. The book is also a wonderful twist of science fiction with med-evil that will apeal all kinds of different audiences. And for all the history buffs out there, this book also has a bit off real historical refrence to kings of the time period. This is just an alot great book for readers of all genres and will appeal to many audiences. I smell a movie!!

Summary: TIMELINE IS ALMOST TIMELESS TALE!
Review: I literally just finished reading this exciting novel just a couple of hours ago and just had to review this exciting and fun read to you readers out there. TIMELINE begins with an enigmatic and corporate chewer named Doniger whom has finally thru many hard years of work, has finally found out how to travel thru time. It is kept a secret for awhile, but like all large and important secrets - this one is unraveling fast, getting ready to be exposed. Professor Johnston is a renowned historian who is trying to put history back together again by gathering around himself a small group of student historians who love him like a father. The historians are in France, studying old ruins of mills and castles of the 14th century. The historians work is owned ans run by none other but the ILT Corp, which is owned by the scrupulous Mr. Doniger himself!
When professor Johnston finds out that the company he is working for is holding secrets of his hard work, he confronts his boss Mr. Doniger, who tricks his employeee to literally go back in time to see his ruins firsthand. Mr. Doniger traps him in time so his secret is not leaked to the press which professor Johnston would surely do since their disagreement. The professor is stuck in time, a time where knights run amok and kill everything in sight - especially strange looking people!
The professor's students find a message in the ruins of the castle they are studying from the professor from the distant past! This sets them on a course with history that they cannot fathom. The company sends them back in time to save their teacher from a brutal and savage time period. Disaster strikes just minutes when they arrive, and the students are thrown into action and adventure that Michael Crighton writes so well. The plot and pace of this novel are very enjoyable and never bogged down with too much detail. My favorite character was Marek, a student of the time period whom has studied the 14th century to so much detail, that he knew all about jousting and swordplay that come to the groups much needed help in the distant past. The ending was good and a little sad which makes it rememberable. If you like a good tale with plenty of action and want to see what it was like in the 14th century - read this one!
