Summary: Well Done !!
Review: In typical Michael Crichton fassion, he has again done his homework. This book is well written and gives the reader enough background in Physics to understand the theory behind time travel (which is, it is NOT possible). Throw in some 13th Century heroes (and villans), for the history buffs, and you're zipping along at warp factor nine..... I'll buy more of his books in the future...... READ IT.. YOU'LL ESCAPE FROM REALITY FOR A WHILE !!!!!!

Summary: ...12:30 a.m., school tomorrow, 20 pages left. Still reading
Review: This is the best Micheal Chrichton book ever written. A riviting and a very enjoyable piece of work. Chrichton has used his knowledge of science and his skills as an author to his best. The book is about a group of scholars that go back to the year 1357, in the time of the Hundred Years War. Not ten minutes into the year 1357, and someone dies. This book had more eye-popping sentences than Jurassic Park and the Lost World put together! When I got this book, I was hoping to read for about an hour a night. I was wrong. I read for two to three hours a night. I only put the book down because I was no longer able to hold the book properly. My eyes had never inched with so much exhaustion since finals. Get Timeline if your looking for something good to read. If you aren't, get it anyway because it looks cool.

Summary: Great Beach or Plane read
Review: As with other Crichton, zero characterization, but a great one-flight or beach read. After a somewhat tedious start, really pulls you along. Perfect Spielberg fodder.

Summary: One of Crichton's best
Review: I read this book knowing that it would be good. And as it turned out, I was not dissapointed at all. Again, Crichton has developed an exciting and compelling story. The plotline is awesome as well as interesting and fast-paced. I highly recommend this book. This is one of Crichton's as well as the worlds best books.

Summary: The book is an Actual Time Machine!
Review: I could not put this book down. Being a Michael Crichton fan ever since he released Eaters of the Dead, this has got to be the best book he's ever made. Jurassic Park, sitting happily atop my pedestal as Crichton's best has been knocked out by this book.
Timeline actually transports the reader to medieval times, making you relish in the beauty and mystery of such an era, infused with modern thinking and perceptions in the mix. Although such modernism would make the characters in the book seem to have more convenient and pleasant circumstances to deal with, I'm glad that Crichton showed in this book that science doesn't fare well with the raw and unadulterated old-world era the book brings you to. From the swashbuckling sword fights to the near death escapes of the characters, I felt that I was with them along the journey, just as I felt when I was with Dr. Alan Grant seeing the dinosaurs for the first time.

Summary: Crichton-esque science fiction with a historical twist!
Review: Despite the confusing description of quantum physics (I always found physics a mystery) and a somewhat predictable ending, I have to admit that this was my favorite Michael Crichton book. I haven't read one since RISING SUN, and this made me remember why I always enjoyed his writing so much.

This was a typical Crichton novel in style and in the fact that it dealt with the concept of scientific advancement gone awry - however there was a neat historical twist. In a nutshell, the rapidly developing advances in quantum physics transported the main characters to the Middle Ages! Unforgettable characters and sweeping adventure would make this a great movie, much like JURASSIC PARK!

I also really liked the way Crichton portrayed the Middle Ages. We are so used to just hearing about knights and chivalry...sure, that did exist...but there was so much more to the reality of medievel life (ie - bubonic plague, unsanitary living conditions, brutal warfare, etc) and all this was touched upon, creating a realistic historical picture.

A must-read for both science fiction fans as well as history buffs!

Summary: Wonderful
Review: Great story, great characters and character development. It keeps the pace up, it never really slows down but it doesn't go too fast. Good action scenes and just for the record I have read it so many times. What else is there to say, just read it and love it.

Summary: One of Crichton's best
Review: I liked this book a lot - it is up there with Jurassic Park and Congo as one of Crichton's best, filled with good plotting, tight deadlines, fun science, pseudoscience, historical and pseudohistorical facts and interesting ideas. He really has researched the middle ages and it's fun to have the time travelers compare reality to stereotype. Although this is easy to read, it takes a lot of work to write and research/imagine the many small details that make it so much fun. It is Crichton's expert ability at doing this that has made the very rich and successful man he is today. Plus, who doesn't like time travel?

Summary: Timeline and Jurassic Park.
Review: The similarities between Timeline and Jurassic Park are legion. But the most important similarity is that both books peaked in the middle and went downhill from there. The descriptions of the dinosaur cloning techniques and the travel-to-parallel-universe techniques were very fun. Then both books deteriorated rapidly -- Jurassic Park into a dinosaurs-chasing-people story (in which you knew the kids would be spared), Timeline into a medieval knights-chasing-people story (in which you knew the spunky heroine wouldn't be killed). In each case, the first half of the book was worthwhile enough to overcome the flaws of the second half.

Summary: Wow!
Review: There is only one word to summarize this book. WOW. I am a 14 year old reading fanatic and Michael Crichton is, to me, the author of authors. This book proves it. I never thought he would be able to write a better novel than Jurassic Park, or Congo, or even The Lost World. (Hear me out, the movie did not do an ounce of justice to the book) But Timeline blows them all away. I reccomend it to everyone I meet, and as of now, I am reccomending it to you!
