Rating: Summary: The Book Keeps Its Promise to Heal Your Life! Review: I'm 48, and have been looking for this book my whole life! I, like many others, including the author, had a horrible childhood. I had parents who basically ignored me or appeared to hate me. There was emotional abuse and alcoholism. I have been struggling to pull my life together my entire adulthood, and have failed. I've read a lot of self-help books, and I watch Oprah. I've been to a couple of therapists, who never used the word worthy or really focused on the problem. Until recently, I didn't even know that my failure in life was due to feeling unworthy! There are a lot of books out there, but how many actually tell you HOW TO FEEL WORTHY? I believe that low feelings of self-worth are possibly the cause of much chronic depression and lethargy. And yet, so many books do not address this problem. I also believe many people are in therapy for decades for the sole purpose of trying to feel worthy. This book's sole purpose is to heal your life, and help you to feel worthy. I have only read about 1/3 of the book so far, and already I see changes. Ms. Hay helps you change how you feel about yourself with positive affirmations, in a certain order, building upon one another. Seem too simple? Let me tell you, it works! It is very much like cognitive therapy (addressing what your inner thoughts are), but for me, much more effective, because of the affirmations. She also writes the book with great warmth and wisdom - there is nothing clinical about it. Reading this book is like jumping in a pool of warm fragrant water, and letting the words just run all over you. There is great compassion and warmth in this book. It is as if a great sage is speaking, with love bursting out all over the place. Not only that, the book itself is healing just to look at! I have never seen such a beautiful book - every page is a color that is a feast for the eyes, with gorgeous subtle art work. The type is beautiful too. Any book on healing SHOULD look like this!
Rating: Summary: my bible Review: I keep this book at my bedside for constant reference. I recently bought a new one, coz the old one fell to pieces, I was referrring to it sooo much. I am consistently amazed and grateful for the affirmations that somehow Works for me. A Must Have, for anyone who wants to start Healing Themselves. Namaste
Rating: Summary: Keep an Open Mind when reading this book Review: It's good to keep an open mind when reading this book. As Ms. Hay delves into the spiritual so born again's may not appreciate it. Lot's of good info, if you can get past some of her beliefs that you may not share. Still in all, it seems to be a positive book with good intent.
Rating: Summary: "It's only a thought, and a thought can be changed." Review: This beautiful book is wonderful! It seems very simplistic that we just need to create affirmations in our life and many problems will dissapear, but it works. While you are affirming, you will realize your limiting beliefs and that is your starting point for changes in your life. Otherwise, affirmations just become wishful thinking. From personal experience, I have been blaming people in my life for my frustrations and anger. As soon as I wrote affirmations for myself that focus on me, I hardly notice the things about other people that were annoying me. Now, I realize that all other people have been acting as my mirrors and I just didn't want to believe the negative things were really part of me too. Louise Hay explains simply in each section how we create our own problems, provides exercises to clear our limiting beliefs, and gives beautiful affirmations to meditate on. I also highly recommend Shakti Gawains, "Creative Visualisation" to help write more personal and specific affirmations for you.

Rating: Summary: I'd give this life-changing book a hundred stars if I could! Review: Feeling angry? Dwelling on the past? Feeling sick? Confused? Blah? This book helps you to hear what goes through your own mind ...... Once empowered, you can snare seemingly innocuous thought patterns which are actually highly counterproductive and harmful and banish them with relative ease. This book changed my life in 1995. After seven years, I still apply YCHYL's principles to nearly all my waking hours. And yes, as YCHYL says, you will at some points want to set the book afire or hurl it violently against a wall because of the flat truth it reveals, BUT DON'T ... it's a wonderful and benevolent eye-opener.
Rating: Summary: A true work of genius - life-changing Review: As a recovering "rational/analytic" type, I resisted Louise Hay's ideas for over a year and even laughed at the simplicity of them. I now listen to the taped version everyday in my car. The ideas are simple because they're true. The ideas are already changing my life for the better. Louise has given us all a gift of learning how to change our lives with compassion, love and kindness. Thank you, Louise!
Buy this book and read it with an open heart. It will change your life.
Rating: Summary: Truly a beautiful book that comes from an honest heartfelt Review: Truly a beautiful book that comes from an honest heartfelt place. The book is artistically beautiful yet has depth and soul. It would be hard for anyone to pick this up and not want to look deep into the pages. I bought a copy for myself and then purchased several other copies for gifts. It is about life and about creating the life that you want in spite of the obstacles set before us. Truly beautiful and rich in soul. You will be inspired by this book - I was!
