Summary: Superb!
Review: This is the Michael Connelly that makes him my favorite author. When he writes about Harry, he's at his best and this is no exception. Harry became one of my fav characters with the very first novel that featured him. His story only gets better this go round. I love the way he digs in and becomes determined to solve a case. With his caring and determination, you're pulled into his expertise for detecting. I was glued to every page and loved going along as he solved the crimes. His reasoning behind Angella's hands placement confirmed for me that I was settling in for pure reading enjoyment. And enjoyable it was. All the way to the surprised ending that was so touching. I was so happy for Harry because I think he's finally home. I can't wait to see what comes next for him, Eleanor and Maddie.

Summary: strong novel
Review: Michael Connelly and his *hit* detective Harry Bosch are at it again. But this time he has no badge, and everyone is out to stop him! Once I picked up this book, I wasn't able to put it down. Michael Connelly is one of the best authors I've ever read, this book deserves 5 stars.

Summary: Another Wonderful Chapter inthe Harry Bosch Series
Review: Maybe it was because he was back to Harry Bosch who I love so much, or maybe it's just such a well told story, but I thought this was Connelly's strongest book in some time. Now retired, Harry is haunted by an unsolved case and the female victim who has been forgotten over time. His casual investigating causes a stir in both the LAPD and the FBI, and soon Harry seems over his head in something greater than he anticipated.
Connelly uses the Los Angeles terrain almost as a character itself, with Bosch stopping at many of the city's famous landmarks throughout his investigation. The action moves quickly and builds to a great suspenseful climax, yet also manages to bring about another level of depth and humanity to this wonderful character at the books end. A must read for Harry Bosch fans.

Summary: A CHANGE OF PLANS FOR BOSCH
Review: Bosch is no more with LAPD (as some of us will remember from the postlude of City of Bones) and this book veers around a first person "civilian" narrative which is perhaps the deepest peep into his psyche to date. I confess to having read only the last 3 of Connelly's novels, but for the first time we get to see Harry the person instead of Harry the detective. This lends a certain credibility and authenticity to the character as a flesh and blood mortal who ages and is subject to the same natural laws of living as everyone else.

Despite this somewhat "soft" brush, Connelly's adroit strokes do not detract Lost Light from his trademark breakneck pace, with the murder's implications expanding the investigation far and wide, possibly implicating police corruption, FBI conspiracy, and international terrorism. Which makes for an unpredictable, irreverent, suspenseful ripper of a read.

Expect nothing less from Connelly, clearly a contemporary master of his genre (along with Herb Cohen in my book). Lost Light is easily an excellent follow-up to an exceptionally fine series. And if you thought City of Bones concluded with a shock, wait for the final twist in this one!

Summary: Hold Fast
Review: Harry Bosch is back, in the first person, and all is right again.
The dogged persistence, the rugged individualism, the dedication to finish something started and all the truly American values Harry possesses makes this reader happy Harry's still on the job.
Harry's our neighbor, the cop down the block making at least one wrong right never able to do anything but to hold fast.

Summary: Another Home Run
Review: I look at Michael Connelly the same way I do baseball. In all of his career, I only count two wild pitches. Most of the time it's fastball after fastball, and I look forward to reading every one. But it seems to me that every three or four books, Michael Connelly delivers a wicked slider. A masterpiece of sorts that keeps readers guessing, plays with their hearts, and leaves them shaking their heads. The first was "The Last Coyote." Then came "The Poet." Then "Angels Flight." And now he does it again with "Lost Light." I love a fast ball, but a slider is a wonderful thing to behold.

I'll admit that I was worried when I opened the book and realized it was written in first person. This lasted all of about three seconds. The book reads with the same smooth style as his very best. The story delivers some great twists and turns, runs at breakneck speed, and in three spots, even brought me to tears. I couldn't put it down.

Summary: a satisfying mystery!
Review: Harry Bosch is back & better than ever! Learning how to enjoy his retirement, Harry ponders on past cases, especially those he couldn't close. One such case involved a random slaying of a young woman in the vestibule of her apartment building, her lovely hands haunt Harry's dreams. Another case, in which he was forced to fire his weapon, was the audacious heist from a movie set of two million legitimate dollars in a delivery truck which a Los Angeles bank had catered.

Michael Connelly continues to write in his trademark taut, authentic & riveting style. LOST LIGHT is a fine tale of deceit & greed, friends plagued by guilt, homespun philosophy, false reports & rogue agents. This time, he also offers redemption, a rare & rewarding commodity.

Summary: Harry Bosch tackles an old case that still haunts him.
Review: Harry Bosch is fifty-two years old. He is a world-weary ex-cop, divorced and at loose ends since his retirement. Throughout his career with the Los Angeles Police Department, Harry has seen the best and worst of people. He has tangled with both bureaucrats and criminals and has lost part of his soul in the process. However, Harry has never lost his compassion for the victims.

One case still bothers Harry. Four years earlier, a young production assistant named Angella Benton was brutally murdered on her twenty-fourth birthday. Her death may be related to the theft of two million dollars on the movie set where Angella worked. Benton's killer was never found and Harry has decided to reopen the investigation on his own.

Since Harry has no official standing as a detective, he has to use guile to ferret out information. Harry angers some important people, including agents of the FBI who warn him to stop digging. Harry continues his inquiries anyway and he soon finds out that this surprising case is much more complicated than he could have imagined.

Connelly has created some wonderfully memorable characters in "Lost Light". There is Lawton Cross, an ex-cop who was shot and paralyzed during an apparent stickup. Cross has some key information for Harry that may break the Benton case wide open. Another character of note is Eleanor Wish, Harry's ex-wife and a professional gambler. Harry still has feelings for Eleanor and when he visits her in Vegas, he realizes that he is still in love with her.

"Lost Light" is a richly textured, well-crafted mystery in which all of the elements come together beautifully. Harry is a sharp, tough, and courageous individual who is determined to find the truth, even if it means risking his life. Harry works a case like a great artist. He misses nothing, and his intuition is unerring. If you enjoy a hard-edged detective story that is both fast-paced and complex, read "Lost Light". It is one of Michael Connelly's best novels.

Summary: Well done
Review: I look forward to Mr. Connelly's books. I make sure I have an afternoon available because it is hard to tear myself away from his work once begun. He comes through as always with a nice slice of his world for me to savor.

Summary: Best Bosch and best Connelly
Review: Where do I start? This is the best Connelly book yet.It probably helps to have read all the Harry Bosch novels but this is probably a good starting point because it is a new start for Harry too. Unlike Patricia Cornwell and James Patterson, Connelly is getting better instead of formulated or tired. The end actually made me tear up(big strong guy type. I might just send Connelly a thank you note for this. I did the audio version and Len Cariou was a perfect vhioce for Harry's voice. I can't wait for the next one and I hope he partners up with Roy Lindell.
