Summary: FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This book is wonderful! It's one of my all-time favorites. This is the kind of book that you can't wait to read. Once you've started it you can't put it down. You'll read it at lunch, on your coffee breaks and any time you have a free second. The plot is superb, the characters wonderful, and the atmosphere perfect. You know how in some stories there are threads flowing all through them, then at the end they get all tied together? This is one of those stories.

Summary: Brilliant story, brilliant writing
Review: Pullman has done what most authors fail to do: he has come up with an original story and told it brilliantly. It is easy to fall in love with the characters. You'll still be thinking about Lyra and her friends long after you finish the book. If you're willing to be patient and stick with it, you will thoroughly enjoy this book.

Summary: Totally, completely and incredibly amazing!
Review: This was an amazing book! I highly recommend it for readers of all ages. The only thing I found vaguely annoying, and slightly disconcerting, was the way the author occasionally, and without a seeming pattern, sometimes switched voices. I felt that this technique detracted more from the story than it contributed. Otherwise, it was a well-crafted, well-told story, and Lyra is an extremely interesting character. I was intrigued by the idea of the human-daemon bond, and I'm looking forward to learning more about its connection to Dust and to the science and psychology of that world and ours.

I'm glad to see that the book is out in paperback, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading the others. Keep it up, Mr. Pullman!

Summary: Most enchanting and mysterious book I have ever read!!
Review: The Golden Compass is my favorite book ever (along with the The Subtle Knife). It is science fiction and fantasy, and a wonderful read. I read it in a week even though it was about 400 pages, because I was so pulled into it. Phillip Pullman writes so wonderfully you feel like you are Lyra herself, and you get so attached to her daemon! I strongly suggest that everyone reads this book!!

Summary: Unbeleivably wonderful book
Review: This book is very fast-paced and exciting. When you start to read this book, you realize that it is impossible to put down and the end comes far to soon, even though it is a 399 page book. Perfect for reading just about anytime. This is a very easy book to get into, and you will find yourself shocked with the amazingly fast-paced turns of events and the horrible ways of the enemy. I have also read the sequel, "The subtle knife" which is just as good. I found that these books were among my favorite books I have ever read, and I am waiting in anxiety for the publication of the third volume, "His dark materials".
