Review: This novel by Philip Pullman is quite simply the best children's fantsay book I have read since "The Giver" came out. If you've ever liked reading at all, this is a book that you simply MUST read!!!

Review: This was THE best book I have ever read! Everyone thought I was nuts, because I simply would NOT put the book down! I read it from cover to cover in two days! I normally don't even like to read! So I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who knows how to read English!

Summary: The best book I've ever read and ever will...
Review: I read Philip Pullman's "The Golden Compass" when I was in 5th grade. Now I'm in 6th grade and I still read it over and over again. Many of my friends wants to borrow it from me, I can understand why. Lyra is THE most interesting character I've ever read. She's brave, adventurous, and fun. I wish I had a friend like her. Everyone should read this book!!!!!

Review: I loved it, I loved it, I absolutley loved it! The Golden Compass is my favorite book! I read The Subtle Knife too and they are both thrilling and suspenseful. Both of them have some sad parts too. So far His Dark Materials is turning out to be a fantastic trilogy! Pullman describes everything so well that I feel like I'm traveling right beside Lyra or Will, like a daemon. I can't wait until The Amber Spyglass comes out, I get so into the book and then I have to wait to find out what happens! Some people think the trilogy is has too many "adult" issues, but I ten years old and I didn't think so! I think The Golden Compass and The Subtle Knife both deserve 5 stars and I just CAN NOT belive anyone who would give in any lower than four!

Review: I LOVED this book! Lyra is so inquisitive, and I identifyied with her deeply. The Golden Compass was a captivating tome, a true classic.Will Parry is a intruigeing charachter, and I loved the book.I still wonder how the trilogy will end.I still get goosebumps when I see the book.

Summary: It was great!!!
Review: I think this was one of the best books that I ever read. I really don't see why some people didn't like it namely the EFAAL or whatever the heck they call themselves. The characters were well developed, as well as the scenes and actions. I liked the ideas that Philip Pullman portrayed. I can understand people disagreeing with them...but that doesn't make the writing of any less quality. It's a great book - bound to become a classic. I can't wait for the third one to come out!!

Summary: Better Than Lewis & Morcock...Maybe better than Tolkien!
Review: I read this book at the recommendation of a friend, and I was surprised to see the book was considered a children's book I'm not sure why this book has been pigeon holed as a 'kid's' book...the reading level may be lower than an 'adult' book, but the concepts, characters, plots, and action are on the highest order, and more complex and provoking than most of the fantasy on the market. I didn't want this book to end. I would recommend this book to anyone.

AFTER I READ THIS BOOK I WANTED TO KNOW ALL THE CHARACTERS!(EXCEPT FOR THE GOBBLERS AND MRS.COUTLER.) NOW I WANT A DAEMON OF MY OWN, JUST LIKE PANTAMAILON! I ESPECIALLY LIKED LYRA, PANTAMAILON, ALL THE DAEMONS, (EXCEPT FOR MRS. COUTLER'S GOLDEN MONKEY,) IOREK, AND SERAFINA PEKKALA, THE WITCH. I ALSO LIKED MA COSTA AND THE GYPTYANS. THIS BOOK IS THE BEST BOOK! IF YOU HAVN'T READ IT YOU HAVE TO. IT IS SO GOOD!!!!! I WISH I HAD A SYMBOL READER OF MY OWN. AT THE BEGGINING I THOUGHT I LIKED LORD ASRIEL, BUT NOW I'VE CHANGED MY MIND. IT'S REALLY A SUPRISE WHEN SHE FINDS OUT THAT HER PARENTS ARE LORD ASRIEL AND MRS.COUTLER, THE BAD GUY. IT WAS REALLY EXCITING WHEN SHE IS CAUGHT IN THE GOBBLERS STATION. IT IS SAD WHEN THEY SEE TONY MAKARIOS WITHOUT HIS DAEMON. I HATE THE GOBBLERS. I THINK WHAT THEY'RE DOING TO KIDS IS WRONG. THE GOBBLERS ARE ALSO LYING. YOUR DAEMON IS KIND OF A THING THAT'S CONNECTED TO YOU, IT WATCHES YOU AND YOU SHARE IT'S FEELINGS. IT'S KIND OF LIKE A PET, BUT CONNECTED. SEE, THERE'S THIS KIND OF DUST CALLED DUST. IT'S SPECIAL DUST THAT DOESN'T COME FROM LYRA'S WORLD. DUST IS USUALLY ATTRACTED TO ADULTS, AND SOMETIMED KIDS. SEE, WHEN YOU'RE A KID YOUR DAEMON CAN CHANGE HIS SHAPE. WHEN YOU'RE 13 YOUR DAEMON HAS TO STAY IN ONE ANIMAL FORM. DUST SEEMS TO BE ATTRACTED TO PEOPLE 13 AND OVER. THE GOBBLERS WANT TO SEE THE WORLD THAT DUST COMES FROM, THE AUORA. THEY ALSO WANT DUST TO BE NOT ATTRACTED TO KIDS. THAT'S WHY THE GOBBLERS ARE CUTTING AWAY PEOPLES DAEMONS, AND WHEN PEOPLES DAEMONS ARE CUT AWAY, THE PERSON IS ALMOST HALF LIVING AND HALF DEAD. IT'S NOT FULLY DEAD YET, BUT IT ISN'T REALLY ALIVE EITHER, AND IT KEEPS ASKING FOR IT'S DAEMON. WHEN THAT HAPPENED TO TONY MAKARIOS LYRA TRYED TO HELP HIM BUT AFTER A WHILE HE DIED. MOST OF THIS BOOK IS EXCITING AND DANGEORUS, SOME OF IT'S SAD, AND SOME IS FUNNY AND HAPPY. THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS I LIKED THIS BOOK, BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS DIFFERANT. I'M STOPPING NOW. I DON'T WANT TO TELL YOU THE WHOLE STORY BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO READ IT YOURSELF.P.S. DAEMONS AND THINGS LIKE THAT MAY NOT SOUND FAMILIAR TO YOU, BECAUSE THIS BOOK IS TAKEN PLACE IN ANOTHER WORLD. THERE ARE THREE WORLDS:LYRA'S WORD, OUR WORLD, AND THE AUORA WORLD. IN THE SECOND BOOK, THE SUBTLE KNIFE, IT'S ABOUT A BOY WHO LIVES IN OUR WOLD BUT GOES INTO THE AUORA WORLD AND FINDS LYRA. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE THIRD BOOK!!!!!
