Rating: Summary: An Amazing Book Review: I've read lots of fantasy books but this one definately ranks close to the top. It's one of those few books that is never slow and has no dull moments. Philip Pulllman's writing style is exquisite abd you won't want to put it down. I haven't heard a bad review from anybody, so if you're looking for something to read get this book. I can't wait to read The Subtle Knife and I'm hoping the third Dark Materials book will be out soon.
Rating: Summary: This is one awesome book! Review: Nothing can beat this book! Pullman does an excellent job making this story a glued to your hands book, cuz you can't put it down. it impressed me.
Rating: Summary: Unforgettably enchanting ... Review: "The Golden Compass," along with "The Subtle Knife," is one of the best books I've ever read. While you would pull this gem out of a children's books section, it's certainly a gaurunteed delight for all ages.
Rating: Summary: A lyrical and captivating story. Review: The Golden Compass, is by far one of the most riviting and exciting fantasy novels I have ever read. The Golden Compass, and its sequal The Subtle Knife, have captured a place in my heart among such other jewels as A Wrinkle in Time, The Book of Three, and Peter Pan. Lyra's world, and the corresponding parallels she discovered, are rivaled only by Narnia and Middle-earth. Philip Pullman has succeeded in creating a fantasy that will live on in the mind of the reader forever, and will continually pull the reader back for more.
Rating: Summary: great! Review: I thought this book was great! Pullman's writing style is absolutely exquisite. There is definitely a reason why it won the British 1995 Carnegie Medal for children's book (under the name northern lights). To the members of EFAAAL, find other books to try to censor!!! If you want trash that should never have been printed try the romance novels...leave this one alone!
Rating: Summary: A story that will both enchant and thrill you.... Review: A wonderfull book! Phillip Pullman weaves an enchanting tale of friendship, courage, and....betrayal. A must have for any teen or anyone young at heart. :)
Rating: Summary: A gotta get, gotta read, gotta finish kinda book! Review: A touching story about a young girl who is full of life and adventure and is dieing to go north. You have to get this book! I saw in the library one day and checked it out. I read it constantly. Once I was finished with the Golden Compass I waited eagerly to go get the Subtle Knife. Buy this book and believe me you'll be asking for more of Philip Pullman's great books!
Rating: Summary: The BEST book of the century!! Review: This book was amazing. I have read many books but this was the most exciting, most thrilling, most wonderful book by far. The author made you feel like you were actully in the story. I felt the characters emotions, and what they were going through. After I picked the book up I could not put it down. It kept me at the edge of my seat. I am dying to read The Subtle Knife!! If you have not read this book, you need to!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely the best book I've ever read! Review: The Golden Compass is an amazing, complex story and I totally love it. I am currently reading it for the fourth time and it is just as great as it was the first time I read it. I would recommend this book to anyone. The interesting and lovable characters will become a part of your life, and the detailed, suprizing plot will keep you glued to the book all the way to the end of The Golden Compass and on to the second book in the trilogy, The Subtle Knife.
Rating: Summary: Deeply Moving! Review: Filled with extravagant characters, beautiful, lush landscapes. Probably one of the greatest and most gripping novel I have ever read!
