Rating: Summary: Good book! Review: I really liked the book! It left my dying to know what was going to happen next. And I still haven't read the sequel to it. It's a magical book and also a mystery. I recommend it to around 11 and up because I read it when I was 11 and I still thought it was good. If you are thinking about buying this book, let me tell you this: It is really good!
Rating: Summary: I really loved the book, but he forgot the ending Review: I absolutely adored this book but you have to take it in little gulps(becuase its so dark and heretical), and it has a hang off ending almost as if . DON'T WORRY I WON'T TELL YOU THE ENDING. Phillip Pullman seemed to reach the end and then think "Hey, this is getting pretty long. I could make this into a trilogy." However I strongly recomend it except once you read this book you will have to read the Subtle Knife and the Amber Spy Glass(coming out next may). It is still a great book and I would recommend it but only if you can stand the heresy.
Rating: Summary: Potential butchered Review: The plot starts off really slow. It does eventually develop into a good and exciting book. In fact I was thinking I really liked the book despite the beginning, until I got to the end. The book ends with a sad, pointless, dispicable ending. It just made me mad that such good potential could be butchered in such a terrible way. I'm returning the book.
Rating: Summary: INCREDIBLE! Review: This book is one of the best I've ever read! I love the concept of deamons and how they change. Lyra (And Pan of course!) is/are just too cool! Her spunk, emontional strugles, and clever twisted ideas give the story it's excitment. The concept about Dust, elementary particles, the anthilometer and parrell worlds is so fasinating. I have only one regret about this book- I read the 2nd book first by accident! (But now the Subtle Knife makes much more sense! (-:) This a great read for anyone!
Rating: Summary: A really good book Review: The Golden Compass has a really good storyline. Any Sci-Fi/Fantasy reader will enjoy it. The sequel, The Subtle Knife, is better. I can't wait for Amber Spyglass, the third book.
Rating: Summary: The Golden Compass is really GOLDEN! Review: The Golden Compass is a supreme story. The plot is very smooth and you'll never get bored of any of the scenes. The pace of the book is relatively fast and you'll never stay on a subject very long. This book is a must-read. So, if you like sweet fantasy stories this is the perfect book for you. If you like this book, you're going to have to read its sequel, The Subtle Knife, another thrilling fantasy!
Rating: Summary: A MUST Read! Review: I have read several Pullman books, and this is his best book yet! The plot is intricate and fascinating. Even if you don't like fantasy, you'll like this book. I loved the Harry Potter book, and THE GOLDEN COMPASS is much better. All my friends at school read this book, and everyone liked it! I've already read THE SUBTLE KNIFE, and I can't wait for THE AMBER SPYGLASS!
Rating: Summary: The best fantasy book ever written! Review: The Golden Compass is one of my all-time favorite books.Philip Pullman is a great author, and I reccomend this book to anybody looking for a great fantasy novel. The storyline is great, the characters well thought out, and the overall book one of the best I have ever read. So, if you have any sense, buy(and tell your friends to buy) The Golden Compass.
Rating: Summary: Cool is the word Review: I'd really wanted to tell you how imainative this book is. It describes a completely diferent world from ours, but at the same time makes u feel that u know the places where action takes part. I really recommend it to anybody that likes to discover new but comfortable places.
Rating: Summary: The Golden Compass Review: The Golden Compass is a totally captivating book. I had it recommended to me by a friend two years ago but did not remember what he had told me until now. I personally enjoy the strong female character, Lyra. I find her spunk and enthusiam reflecting my feelings as the reader. With the wonderful, descriptive writing, I felt drawn into the book, going on a cold voyage to the north with Lyra and the gyptians, etc. I felt that I was actually there waiting for the Armored bears, flying in the balloon, climbing on the roof, or any other experiances. I would recomend this book to any reader, especially girls who enjoy a good thrill and love adventure, suspense, or just plain fun.
