Summary: Best book in the trilogy
Review: This is a great book, the author was very imaginary, the main character was great. The new world he created was similar to ours yet very different. Bad sides: the trilogy goes downhill from here. Don't read the next 2 books if you are religious, you will be highly offended.

Summary: Absolutely Fascinating!
Review: Lyra is just a rambuncous, wrekless eleven-year-old girl, racing without a care through out the streets of Oxford, and the many passages, and secret corridors of the majesty of Jordan Colledge.

This book is truely a work of a genius, it has so much depth, intensity, that you can't help but wonder "Is this really real? Can this actually heppen?" The author has obvisiouly put alot of effort in not only the story, but the chracters, he holds on to your attention and won't let go. Deffinatly not for those of weak minds, no imagination, or insight. He has his own, philosphy, science, and explanation behind it all. He teases you with the answers to all the mind boggeling guestions and yanks them back into the shadows of mystery. You never truely know what Dust is, even at the end of the last book. If you ever read "Cosmos" by Carl Sagen, I think you'd be intensly interested in this book. It is definatly not your average fantasy story. Read it.

Summary: One of my favorite books!
Review: The Golden Compass is one of my most favorite books ever! It is quite a creative and unique book, implying things I would never have thought of before reading the book. I can relate greatly to the main character, preteen Lyra, which also makes the book quite interesting. This book is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read. If you are a fan of the Harry Potter series, the Narnia series, or other such fantasy books, then you will love Philip Pullman's The Dark Materials series. All three books were outstanding reads. After you start reading it is hard to put The Golden Compass down! A must read!

Summary: marvelous and powerful
Review: i absolutly loved this book and imediately sucked in the next two in the series.mr. pullman delights you, surprises you, thrills and then chills you and i would have to say that these are on my top ten favorite books. It definitely follows in the footsteps of Rowling and Tolkein. Warning! i would recomend this to child under the age of nine because it has some elements children would not understand and enjoy.

Summary: A great book for all ages
Review: At first, I was somewhat skeptical when reading this book. Being a devout mystery reader, I had no idea why me sister gave me this book. After reading the first few pages, however, I knew why: this book, although mostly fantasy, is more of a mix of all the genres of books. The book troughs you right in the middle of the story, and it takes a little while for the reader to get used to the book, especially considering I was 12 at the time. I am now fourteen, and I still remember the gripping plot as if I just finished the book. Since whoever now reads this review has most probably read the editors review, I will not bore you with the plot. Suffice to say that it is of a world similar world to ours, except for one crucial difference: daemons, little creatures that are the reflection of your soul in an animal form. I believe I will spoil the story if I say anymore, so suffice to say that this is an incredible book. But don't take any other reviewer's word or mine for it. Read the book. Go ahead, impress yourself.

Summary: Wonderful Book!
Review: This book was wonderful, of course. The entire trilogy is great, and I think I'm prepared to say that these are my favorite books. It keeps your attention and had an excelent plot. I find Lyra to be a neat character as well as many of the others. When I read these books I'm right there in their incredable journey, I really do love this book. I often wished at the end that it would not stop. I highly recomend this book to everyone, I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

Summary: A Wonderful Book
Review: The Golden Compass is a great book, and I look forward to the next two in the trilogy. A complex, deep, and completely thrilling novel, which is full of wonderful detail and a riveting plot. It's astounding. It's a shame that it ended so soon... I couldn't put it down during the book, and immediately decided to get the next two. It is a great book, one that I'd reccomend for preteens keen on great literary works, teenagers who don't want to pass up a great read, and even adults who want to see some of the greatest "children's" authors' works. You'll end the book wishing to know what will happen to Lyra (the protagonist) and her daemon. I want a daemon! Daemons, which are slightly hard to explain, are just one of the many great thing about the Golden Compass. Go and read it today!
