Summary: SIMPLE FUN
Review: Baldacci weaves an entertaining tale revolving around the Supreme Court, a Virginia military prison, and an ex-cop turned lawyer. Good character development, especially John Fiske, Rufus Harms and Sara Evans. Good plot twists help build suspense until the final pages. Not high-brow stuff, but a good read.

Summary: Too Predictable
Review: Let me make a general remark first. Contemporary American writers lack the subtlety of writing a good piece of prose with a strong control over the storyline. They can be labelled as good story-tellers but not good novelists. (No, I'm not British and yes, Stephen King is an exception). Now, this was my first Baldacci and he holds true to my above remark. Very poor character configuration, no scene-settings at all, and above all, a very predictable ending. As for the storyline, well, it was all too bald. My first impression about Baldacci? Another storyteller in wake of so many getting advantage of a huge readership which is not introduced to intricacies of a novel yet.

Review: this is a very exciting story. The segments with Harms vs. his military foes, Harms and his brother vs. the military foes were great. As were the whole scenario with the Supreme Court and the clerks. The story of John Fiske, his relationship with his father and brother, got even better with Sara Evans. I also liked Total Control by Balducci

Summary: Save your money
Review: This book manages to be far-fetched yet predictable at the same time. The plot -- bad white men in the Army cause a sweet, deeply religious black man to kill a little girl. (I never did understand WHY they did what they did to him). They then engage -- for 25 years -- in an incredibly incredible conspiracy to cover it all up as they continue to torment the very nice man in prison. The bad guys really want to kill the good guy but somehow keep messing it up -- over and over again. The backdrop of the behind-the-scenes workings of the Supreme Court is pretty interesting but does not save the book. Even for a standard-issue legal thriller, this one falls short.

Summary: A superly written page-turner -the epitome of skill!
Review: David Baldacci takes you on a wild ride through the inner workings of the Supreme Court - and much of his insight will amaze, if not shock you. His clever interwoven plot takes the reader through murder,desperation, futility, intrigue, romance, and much , much more. The twists and turns are comparable to those of a roller coaster ride. His artistry almost dares you to try and put his book down at the conclusion of a chapter. His skill and story-telling ability has increased with each of his books, and this one should be at the top of any mystery reader's list of what to read next. I look forward to his next and would reccommend each and every thriller of his to anyone who appreciates an excellent read.

Summary: my review
Review: Somebody dies at the Supreme Court and it takes the brother of the victim, a police officer, to find the killer. I thought this book to be very entertaining. The plot is very interesting and keeps you wanting to read on. David Baldacci has the ability to write in a very simple and real manner. His characters are very real and they blend very well with the plot. For a fiction book it is a good read.

Review: This book will keep your interest, and you'll read through its 511 pages relatively quickly. But the book loses credibility when its characters act unrealisticly. Things happen in this book that just wouldn't happen in real life, and it leaves you shaking your head as you read it. Its a decent book, and I'm glad I read it, but there are better books out there.

Summary: A page turner for those fast reading experiences
Review: Had it not been for the over exposure to topics pertaining to law by Grisham, I may have been more swayed for a higher rating. This book was good and enjoyable, but it is very similar to the vast array of suspense books out there. I'm finding that too many writers are going for the entertainment value over great writing. That's just my opinion. If you like Grisham, Stuart Woods, etc...you'll like this book. But, you will be familiar with the style. It's a fast read and good for airplane, train, etc..trips.

Review: Yuck! First of all, no plot to make me want to read it...Ever had one of those books that you could skip 50 pages and understand everything that went on? Yeah, this is that kinda book! The characters were ridiculous and from the first mention of each of the characters, you can call the ending...
