Summary: it's changed(and is still changing) my life for the better
Review: This book has changed my life! Unlike other self-help books, I think the discipline of the 12 week course helps keep you focussed. A year later I'm still going with the morning pages - though I can be a bit stingy about letting myself go on Artist Dates. Couldn't recommend more!

Summary: This is an exciting, innovative approach to the craft!
Review: I was mesmerized reading The Artist's Way and recommend it to my screenwriting students as well as "artists" of every variety. It's truely an innovative book that brings the artist out in everyone.

Summary: Writers find inspiration here too
Review: As an adjunct faculty member at Harvard University and co-president of WriteDirections.com which is the Web's first virtual distance-learning writing university, I find that of the students who "attend" our classes on writer's block and creativity, the ones who seem the most prepared and ready to progress are those that mention having read this book. Students report being able to recover their creativity from a variety of blocks, especially limiting beliefs in themselves, fear, and self-doubt. It certainly keeps our faculty on their toes!

Summary: This book truly changed my outlook on life and my creativity
Review: I completed the twelve weeks this summer and thoroughly enjoyed the process. Reading the book and working through the exercises each week put me back in touch with myself and my creativity. I shall continue to write my morning pages and to keep my artist dates, even though I have finished the program. I would highly recommend this to creative people in any field who have let work and "responsibilities" take over their entire lives.

Summary: Inspiring and Motivational
Review: Julia Cameron takes us on a journey through the inner landscape of our soul. She reveals how creativity has the capacity to ehance our daily lives and bring joy to every moment. THE ARTISTS WAY teaches the path to peace. Thanks, Julia, for sharing how creativity illuminates our souls. -- Samuel Oliver, author of WHAT THE DYING TEACH US: LESSONS ON LIVING.

Summary: People complaining about "God" references miss the point.
Review: I suspect that some of these complainers never made it through the first chapter! Cameron clearly and repeatedly states that "God" can mean anything you choose it to mean--and even suggests it can be an acronym for "Good Orderly Direction". You *don't* have to be any sort of a "believer" to get great value from this book.

Summary: To be honest
Review: Ms.Cameron has some good ideas, however the idea of the morning pages and various others are NOT HERS. They belong to a writer named Brenda Ueland, whose book "If You Want To Write" was published in 1938. IT was the first book in popular reading lists to deal with writer's block. Despite the real help she has provided for some people, I think it is rather shameful that Ms. Cameron didn't give credit where credit was due. You can still get Brenda Ueland's book.

Summary: What a tool!
Review: This book burst onto the shelves of artists and writers alike. The author suggests daily journal keeping in the form of "Morning Pages" as a way to dump the mental trash before starting your day. The book consists of a 13-week course in discovering and recovering your creative self. My favorite was the "artist's dates" where you take yourself somewhere you want to go as a treat to your heart and your senses.

Summary: Thank you, Julia Cameron
Review: In the last six months, I have experienced more things in my life than I ever thought I would--both incredibly positive and extremely devestating experiences. I'm in week 6 of my work with The Artist's Way and it has provided such a positive and creative framework for me to actively heal. Several months ago, I made a commitment to myself to change my life and The Artist's Way has been a tremendous resource for me. I've discovered abundance and spirtuality all around me! Sure, it's a rocky path, filled with ups and downs, but stick with it! You will learn and grow in ways you never have dreamed of.

Anyone who is looking for a great framework in which to heal--do the work in this book!! It will really support you in ways you probably don't even know exist.

Thank you again!

Summary: Gentle push to take creative chances
Review: I am currently working my way through this book, and it's amazing to me. Cameron seems to know what I'll be thinking next, and helping me through it on the path to creative freedom. I find myself looking forward to the time I'll spend on the exercises each day, and feeling more optimistic about my life as a creative person. I'm starting to believe that this is not a temporary boost that will last until the final page, but a life-long shift in attitude towards creating and living. Okay, this sounds really starry-eyed, but I believe anyone who approaches this book with an open mind will be changed for the better and happier.
