Review: Young Cassie is a strong girl during the Great Depression, butshe alsosees the racial problems going on around her. This book was GREAT in some parts and I could not put it down! Such as the part when they go to Strawberry and Lillian Jean humiliates her. But then other parts are sooooooo incredibley boring I feel like throwing the book against the wall and pounding my head on the table with impatience! But it is okay, but I always see newberry books as not that good, don't you agree? I have only read 1 book that was newberry that I feel should of gotten that award.

Summary: An excellent introduction to the "race problem"
Review: In the tradition of Twain's "Huckleberry Finn", Taylor presents a stirring, racial-gapping story. Through the eyes of a child, readers are hurled into the racial devide of 1933 Mississippi. Taylor teaches truth and promises hope. On the surface "Roll of Thunder" seems a quaint recollection of childhood memories. Much of the book's humor lies in the imaginative justice of the Logan children when they are confronted with the unfair actions of the rich farmers and their kin. All readers will surely enjoy the kids' way of getting even. Taylor makes an excellent choice in narrators. Initially, Cassie's youth prevents her from completely understanding the world in which she and her hardworking family lives. However, as her experiences become more meaningful and life threatening, her awareness broadens. Like her mother, Cassie is a teacher; she breaks down racial stereotypes and readers learn racism stems from ignorance. The novel comes to a fitting, dramatic conclusion. All does not end well as T.J., Cassie's one-time nemesis, seems destined for injustice on the chain gang, or worse, hanging by his neck from a tree. Taylor's greatest attribute as the author of this books is her ability to stay true to the harshness of reality and the certainty of hope.

Summary: Wonderful, I loved it!!
Review: This book was better than a ten! Infact, I would give it a one hundred if I could. It is just so beautifully written and wonderfully detailed that I cry everytime I read it. Anyone who doesn't like this book needs to see a shrink, and fast. This is Mildred D. Taylor's best book yet and I just can't get over what a stupendous book it is! I LOVED IT MORE THAN ANYOTHER BOOK IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, AND I MEAN THAT SO VERY, VERY MUCH; I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry
Review: The book that I read was "Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry." The author is Mildred D. Taylor. This book is about a girl named Cassie and her family. It tells about racial injustices and how the family dealt with them. The main idea was that Cassie stood up for herself and what she believed in and didn't let anybody bully her. She had a good self esteem about herself and her color. I like this story because Cassie stands up for herself and doesn't let anyone get her down. I like the author's style of writing and how I can read it and feel the way that Cassie felt. Most parts of this book is exciting and keeps you on the edge of your seat, like the fire and the fight with Lillian Jean, a local white bully. This book gives me a better understanding of how difficult and frustrating it was for many people and how hard it was to make money. It gives me some knowledge on how people solved many racial problems during the days of prejudice. In my oppinion this book should not be called "Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry," but it should be "Cassie and the days of Prejudice," because only one scene in the whole book is about the field catching on fire. The rest of the book is about how Cassie felt. In conclusion I think this book would be great for someone who enjoys a lot of action. It is a terrific book and I recommend it to the whole sixth grade.

Review: I had to read this book for school, and it just made me bored out of my mind. It didn't really hold my attention, and the only reason I finished it was because I had to. It was a very well-written book, but just not the kind of book I enjoy to read in my spare time.

Summary: Awesome Book
Review: I thought this book was quite a success. It is very informative and great for relating it to your past experiences. Within the book, you can find lots of foreshadowing and hidden details that can further reveal future parts. The book also shows a great amount of character development. Cassie went from being all ignorant and aggressive to more intelligent and understanding of racism. She then was able to use this knowledge to protect herself from other whites insults. Additionaly, Little Man, Christopher-John, and Stacey grew as well. Stacey finally reached manhood and was allowed more responsibility while Christopher-John finally was able to stick to what he said. Little Man also was able to calm down about getting dirty, unlike in the beginning when he freaked out about getting muddy. Overall, it was a pretty good book. Congrats to you Mildred D. Taylor!

Review: I was required to read this book as a novel study at school. It was alrite but if I had the opportunity I don't think I would read this book again. At times it was interesting but I just couldn't get into it. It might be because I don't usually like books that are set back in the 30's but I just didn't enjoy reading the book.

Review: Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry This is a great book.It was well written and it kept me interested.The character I can relate to and like is Little Man. The conflict is there life in that time period.The reason that I like Little Man is because he has alot of heart for a small person.This book is very informitive on how seriouse racism was around the year 1850 . Also the book did not hold back on the details of things. I strongly recommend the book "Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry" to anyone who seems interested.
