Rating: Summary: One of the best books I have ever read!!! Review: Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, I thought, was an outstanding book that shared a year of a nine year old girl named Cassie Logan, and her family! I read it in class and we had a discussion after we read it and our whole class loved the book! Thank you Mildrid D. Taylor for writing such a great book that touched our hearts! Thanks again!!
Rating: Summary: full of detail and great history background Review: the book was surprisingly good and i strongly reccomend it for people that love history. full of sadness and laughter, the book tells of how much black people suffered even after the civil war ended. the book vividly describes racism in the South and tells of the pride and joy that went on in the Logan family.
Rating: Summary: It's probably best book I have ever read!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Cassie Logan finds out the hard way that living in the Depression is hard - especially with the racism going on all around her. Cassie is 9 years old and it is difficult for her to realize that some people are mean to her and her family and friends simply because of her skin color. Many touching, sad, funny, and happy adventures packed into one wonderful book - absolutely must be read, you cannot miss out on such a book!
Rating: Summary: Not very interesting Review: I read this book in class and I thought it was uninteresting and very boring. Some people like these stories and that is fine with me, but mostly, I think this story is a little too hard for children to understand. It's more of a book that adults or people that love historical books lwould like to read. The book might have deserved a metle but I just say it was a very complicated book
Rating: Summary: This is a great book!!! Review: This book is great. It really shows how it used to be right after the Civil War. It is ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!!
Rating: Summary: Greatest book ever Review: This is by far the best book i have ever read, i may not be finished(not nearly,5th chapter) but so far this book is great I have barely been able to set it down. I look forward to reading more and also another one. But what is shocking is I am 12 and love sports and I usually hate to read, especially since I red the "Borrowers" for school I thought that all books were as boreing as that. When I heard that we had to read another book called "Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry" I thought oh no! But this book is GREAT!! Sincerily, Brianna Louise Hill blh2212@yahoo.com
Rating: Summary: "Roll of Thunuder Hear my Cry" is a good book! Review: Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry was an educational book that talks about a familys history and what is happening to their land. It is a good book, that gives you a idea of what the times where like around the great depression. Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry is detailed and direct. It is good for a book report or essay.
Rating: Summary: A powerful, compelling narrative of a southern family's lif Review: Mildred Taylor does a magnificent job of telling the American post-slavery story. The fact the she does it throught the eyes of a brave and sensitive nine year old girl makes it most profound. The author remains true to history with a strong sense of time and place. Characters are well defined, each with an identity that balances the family. This book meanders along at a well paced flows. Poignant sensory details are used to bring the reader closer to the events- you can almost smell the honeysuckle. Taylor does an especially good job of giving characters strength in spite of all adversaries. Good read. Young people and others would enjoy this book. I've read it to my youngsters and they loved it.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful story told through the eyes of a young girl! Review: Cassie Logan is the picture of an innocent nine year old girl who falls victim to the unthwarted racism and hatred during the 1930's. Taylor weaves a story of the struggles that most African-Americans faced during the horrible years of the Night Riders. Some gave in, other stood up to them and payed for it, while some did nothing at all. The Logans were fortunate enough to have land to support them.
