Rating: Summary: a wonderfully written view of life after black slavery ended Review: Written from the point of view of a young black girl, Cassie, living in the South after black slavery ended but racism is still reigning. By reading this book, you join the Logan family in a adventure through tears, laughter, and many hardships. I wholly recommend this book to anyone.

Rating: Summary: A very powerful story. Review: This book was very good. I would recommend it to anyone. It really opens your eyes to how some people were treated. It also has a very good story line and kept me guessing until the very end. It was one of the best books I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: It is a book of how awful blacks were treated. Review: This is such a good book I knew the blacks were treated badly back then but this series of books had me in tears a quite a few times. Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, Let the Circle be Unbroken, and The Road to Memphis are all wonderful books and I love them they touch my soul. Cassie sets an exsample with the rest of her family in such a great way of how they had to act. I don't want to give anything away so I know I shouldn't say which parts touched me most. But I think I can say this without giving anything away. At the begining T.J. seemed like a pain but after awhile he really touched me and I cried at a couple points about him or I was greatly astonished.

Rating: Summary: a reader from Holland Review: I've read this book for school, literature. I really advise other people to read this book too. It is a very clear story about the differences between black and white people. What they say in this book is the truth, and that is not really romantic. I think this book can help people by getting a realistic view on this item because black people are still treated badly! So, it is not just a novel to read, it is a book with a moral and a very good one. I hope you will read it too!
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is a Newberry Award Winner. It is classified as a historical fiction book for advanced readers. The book is set in the deep south during the Great Depression. It is the story of the Logan family's struggle to remain independent and strong through this difficult time. Cassie, the narrator, does some growing up through the book, and has to face some harsh realities of life. I think this is a terrific book that makes the life of this family come alive. The story is clearly told, and you find yourself wrapped up in the emotion of the tale. I read and reviewed this book in Dr. Tom Sherman's Children's Literature course at Winona State University.
