Rating: Summary: Great Childrens Book Review: This a great book for teaching your kids how it as for African-Americans growing up in the south before they were treated as equals. It is a must have for any and all class rooms, homes, and libraries. I would encourage everyone to read this terriffic story!
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Book! Review: I read this book with my class and it is excellent. The book tells about the hardships and struggles that the Logan family went throught in the year 1933. It tells how they stuck together when times were hard as black people living in Mississippi. Mildred D. Taylor did an excellent job writing the story.
Rating: Summary: Good read aloud book for class Review: I read this book to my fourth grade class. They loved it! It's long but we never lost interest in the Logan family nor their friends. I recommend Mrs. Taylor's Logan books to anyone of any age. I enjoy reading about the family as much as my students. We are on our third now and still have three or four more to go.
Rating: Summary: This book is great, despite what everybody else says. Review: People may say that this is horrible, but it is great. If you can understand English, you will be intrigued and Taylor will draw you in immediatley. READ THIS EXCELLENT BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry from a teenager Review: I read Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry by Mildred D Taylor. This book gives a realistic account of growing up in the South. The white peoplecontrol the land that the Blackshave to share crop on and in a way, they are still slaves because they have no say what happens. I liked this book because you could really understand and realate to all the characters in some way or another. By this I meanthe characters are children and they do things that you could imagine your self doing when you were a child. The children often weasel out of predicaments together and will not break any promise to each other. This book is an easy read because there arn't any words or sections that are hard to understand. The book also gripes your attention for lengths at a time and won't let go.
Rating: Summary: Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Review: It was the late 30's and the logan familiy had been trying to pay their bills and support each other. David, their father, worked on the rail road and Mary, their mother, worked as a teacher in the local school for blacks. Their kids names were Cassie(the nararator), Stacy(the oldest brother), little man, and Christopher John. They had many struggles, keeping up the farm, paying the bills, and having money for food were very hard things to do while the whites were harrassing, teasing, and trying to kill them. On top of all that, David and Mary were both out of a job. David got hurt by the Wallaces and Mary got fired for not teaching the white version of history. The Wallaces, Simon, and Mr. Granger were watching them like hawks, so that at any moment they could take their land and their lives. T.J., Stacy's friend, was not so lucky after Stacy stopped being "friends" with him. This was a very good book. I like how most of the book was in dialogue. I think that made it easier to read and tell what was going on and it gave me more emotions which makes it more interesting. It was just right for my reading ability, The book showed me how unfair it was bakc them for blacks to be hated so much and people could tease or kill with little emotion.
Rating: Summary: Totally Wonderful Review: This book is soooooo wonderful. I've read it about 6 times. Every time I read it,it seems to get better. I must say that I will never forget this book! I admit it had a slow beginning but keep reading it gets better!

Rating: Summary: Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry Review: I am in eigth grade and am an avid reader. I am most likely interested in all novels and am open minded towards them, however this novel is definately awful. The story line is good, yet the writing and myriad amount of adjectives is a bother and causes the reader to have a lack of intrest.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ! Review: This is such a great book! It really opened my eyes to the terryfing truth of racisum. This book will have you laughing and crying. Cassie Logan and her family struggle through everything TOGETHER. It will really open your eyes!
