Review: It is a really good book because it always looked from their point of view. It never changes from person to person, it always was from Cassie's point of view. It was really interesting and fun to read because you always wanted to keep on reading it.

Summary: A Wonderful Novel
Review: "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry" is the story of a girl named Cassie Logan, an African-American, and her family. It starts out with the life of the Logan family, the pranks of the Logan kids, their bittersweet friendship with Jeremy, a caucasian, and T.J.{a friend of theirs)'s harsh attitude. When there mother catches T.j. cheating and fails him, T.J. tells the school district board that Mrs. Logan hasm't been teaching them worthwhile stuff. The school district comes to watch her teach and fires her because she wom't teach what's in the textbooks, even though the information isn't correct. When the Logan kids find out that T.j. got their mother fired, they decide not to be friends with him. Then T.J starts hanging out with Jeremy's brothers. They steal stuff. When they are caught stealing a pearl handled gun, the owner mistakes the brothers as African-Americans. The owner is killed by one of the brothers. T.J. then tells that he's going to report the killing, so the beat him up. T.J is convicted of theft and murder. This is a powerful story of racism, the trials of growing up, and the land they love.

Summary: Haunting look at racial injustices in Depression Era South
Review: Living through The Great Depression was hard enough -- forAfrican Americans it was even harder! This book tells of life in the rural South through the eyes of a 9-year old African American girl. She gives an account of what each day was like, how black people were exploited and cheated, even beaten and murdered. There were many good people, black and white, who just wanted everyone to get along, and when it really mattered they all banded together. -- This book is for mature readers who can handle difficult situations. I would highly recommend this book to any readers above the age of 10. As a teacher I have used this book in my classroom during African American History Month, but would not hesitate to introduce it any time.*****

Summary: Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry
Review: Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry was an excellent book. I like this book because Mildered D. Taylor made a very good plot detail and a good characterization of the characters. In the part where Cassie gets humiliated in public by a white girl, just because she was black, was neat. Not because she got humiliated in public, but because, since everyone back then thought black people were stupid, she thought of a plan on how to get the white girl back in public.

So one day after school she decided to tell her that she had a surprise for her in the woods. So they went there and Cassie started to beat her up. She taught her a lesson. Then, the white never humiliated her in public again.

I think everyone should read this book because it is a great book. Also it teaches many lessons. That is why i gave it four stars. I really liked it and i think everyone should take the time to read this great book. Even if you don't have a lot of time, take the time to read it!

Summary: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry
Review: Wow, what an amazing piece of literature. I would highly recommend this truly engaging book. Mildred Taylor has created characters that one can easily empathize with. She pulls you into little Cassie's life. You laugh, cry, and are angered and appalled by the daily life Cassie and her family deal with. Read this with an open mind and an understanding spirit and you will come away with more than you began with.

Summary: One of the best book ever(from an 13 avid reader)!
Review: This is a GREAT fiction book about how colored families deal with adverse incidents. The setting occurs in the early 1930's. The reader can related to a number of incidents that is mentioned in the book. The events are so vivid and described so well that you would think that you experienced the whole novel too!!(or at leased think that author did). The characters are so well described that you would think that they were your family and friends(of couse you would also need to have a imagination)!! there is only 2 other books that almost made me cry (Where the Red Fern Grows and a book in that Cynthia Voigt series fogot the name). This is a fast-paced, easy, novel. Won't give anything away but I would profusely recommend this book to ANYBODY!! I can't wait to read the other series!!

Summary: Triumph Over Adversity
Review: Through the explosive narrative Cassie Logan delivers, it seems as if one is walking hand and hand with the family as they face the many trials and tribulations life cruelly deals them. Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is a first person account of a family's fight for their land and their pride. Cassie vividly details her family's struggles to rise above poverty, racism, and the brutal treatment of African-Americans living in the South during the depression. Cassie and her brother, Stacey, are forced to grow beyond their years when they are faced with the multi-faceted occurances of discrimination. When the future looks bleak and impossible for the Logan's, Mama, Papa, Big Ma, Uncle Hammer, and loyal friend, Mr. Morrison do the unthinkable to save the family, the land, and unite the community for one brief moment. Although the winds of adversity blow in the face of the Logan's, they prove that anything worth having is worth a fight.

Summary: REAL!
Review: Roll of Thunder is about an African-American family living in Missisipi. They have four children that have never gone through hard times as blacks before and finally find out how badly blacks are mistreated.I will not tell you more except that this book is great except very emotional and I'll have the guts to say it's educational!

Summary: marvelous
Review: Role of Thunder Hear my cry was a very enjoyable and suspenseful book. Although, I'm afraid this book would have to win the award for the saddest ending! It talks about a black family struggling to live, with no money and eventually fired from their jobs. The only thing that they do have is their land, and they sure are proud of it!
