Summary: Epic in scope, tremendously moving!!!
Review: There are only a few novels which sparked a great deal of involvement during my reading, and this one ranks in that echelon. I read this book while I was in freshman high school (my first real full-length novel) and this henceforth sparked my interest in reading Follett novels. Seven years later, this is by far still his best. It has all the elements of a great story -- it will make you cry, smile, hate and sigh. If you have not yet read this book, do it! Though set during the Middle Ages, it chronicles a lot of aspects of human nature which is still too real today.

Summary: Its fun and engaging but...
Review: For the amateur medievalist it is interesting but one has to wonder how much investigation Follet did into this period of time. I ofund some of the dialogue and narrative somewhat contrived.

In all though, it was a good book. And for those who enjoy this period, go for it...!

Summary: You mean it was 1000 pages?!
Review: This book looks huge and when it was recommended by a friend I thought it looked terrible and trashy.

I was so wrong - read it in a week and stayed up very late every night to do so.

I loved the way you weren't bored by the history, but enthralled by it

Summary: amazing epic
Review: everyone should read this unbelievable book, it is my favorite novel of all time.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Read it in 3 days
Review: I was nursing my first child, and read this book in 3 days. Every single page!!! When I finally finished, I was disappointed, because I wanted these people to be a part of my life. I wanted them to be around. Tom Builder, by far was the best. I wish Ken Follett would right more about the children and what happened to them, afterwards. I rarely re-read a book, but I have read this one 4 times.

Summary: A historic account of a cathedral builder and his love life.
Review: This is a wonderful book for any person male or female over the age of fifteen due to some sexualy. At times the plot moves very slow, but just as you are about to put the book down something wonderful happens. If you enjoy history or love stories or both you would love this. It is somewhat similar to the book London and Serum, not by the same author.

Summary: My all time favorite!
Review: This was, without a doubt, the best book I have ever read. The plot was exceptional and I felt like I personally knew the characters. Ken Follet brilliantly weaves in significant historical events and settings to make this book not only entertaining, but educational as well. Pillars was one of few books I actually read twice. A definate read!

Summary: Excellent, Follett's best
Review: I've enjoyed all of Follett's novels, but this is by far my favorite. I'm no authority on the time period, but when reading this book I felt that Follett was.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Amazing!!! A long book that goes by fast!!!
Review: This book grabbed me from the 1st page and wouldn't let go until I was done. I spent many sleepless nights reading. The descriptions of the landscape, buildings and characters occupy your thoughts while you are reading and stay with you months (years) after you are done. I have passed it on to several friends who threw it back at me saying "thanks alot, now I can get some sleep".

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very nice book, even translated into Spanish
Review: I read it in Spanish a year ago, it took me a year (some pages every night before I went to sleep) and I still remember a lot from its characters. I will read it again someday.
