Rating: Summary: Best book ever!!! Review: I just learned to read, and if this is a sign of things to come, I am very upset I waited 23 years to learn how to read. The storyline is great...especially the part about the Eskimos and the circus freak....Highly recommended!!!
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest books of all time Review: Being an avid reader, I have often encountered books who inspired me and touched my heart in a special way. "Pillars of the Earth" is by far the GREATEST BOOK I have ever read! I've been enthralled by its historic perspective and the incredible satisfying storyline. The depth and understanding of the characters recreates a world in which one might easily see himself. However, my words will never be able to describe the actual passion and satisfaction only achieved when reading the book yourself. Ken Follett is a superb writer and more than 150 reviewers giving 5 stars clearly tells you that YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely the best book I've ever read. Review: I was sucked into this book and it became real life for me- things which went on while I wasn't reading were unimportant in the face of the trials and adventures of the characters in the story. I recommend this book as often as I can to whoever I can, and I'm furious that more libraries don't carry it. If you haven't already bought a copy- do, and fast!!
Rating: Summary: Quite simply the very best book you will ever read. Review: After having read over 1,000 books, I can honestly say that no other story comes close. Every time I have urged someone to read it, they've looked at the cover and said "I don't think so," or "It doesn't lok like something I'd be interested in," but after urging each of them to at least read the first (short) chapter, not one of them could put it down. I've had people thank me profusely for recommending this book to them, men and women alike. It is an absolutely perfect, magnificent story.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I Have Ever Read Review: A friend loaned this book to me and I reluctantly started reading it after it sat on my nightstand for a few months. I got sucked into it immediately. And I have never read anything that took place in the 12th Century without being required to when I was in school. I strongly reccomend this book to anyone. PLEASE READ IT!!!
Rating: Summary: One of the most incredible books I've ever read! Review: This book is a magnificent and true-to-life story of life in twelth century England - the characters are as real as they are human and the tale that unfolds before the fascinated reader is as full of suspense, as it is of emotion and sincerity. Anyone, an average reader and a history buff alike, will fall in love with Pillars.
Rating: Summary: One of the best!! Review: I was rivited. Historically well researched and fictionally well written. I caught myself several times exlaiming injustice when the characters were wronged and cheering when the heros prevailed. One of the best books I've ever read!
Rating: Summary: A novel of ancient and heroic times. Review: Pillars of the Earth combines history, adventure, romance, religion and architecture. This was the first book of Ken Follett's that I read and it will not be the last. This book turned me into a Ken Follett fan. One of the best books I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: Only book I've read on a yearly basis Review: I am a devout Steven King reader, so when my dad recommended I read Pillars during my architectural studies in college, I doubtfully took him up on it. I am not a fan of the Medieval era, but I was engrossed from the first page. I read this book yearly as it is refreshing, entertaining, gripping and interesting. I am eagerly awaiting a sequel!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: Ken Follet manages to hold his readers in suspense right to the end of this very long book. At the end, you're left thinking what can I read that's going to top that. This book is a literary tapestry of medieval life. Out of five stars, this book deserves six.
