Summary: One of the Greatest Ever Written!
Review: All of these hating democrat reviews aside, here's the deal. Simply a great book. Yes it is filled with some pro-Bush chatter. But most of the country is sick and tired of hearing the tirade of lying democratic candidates and the flapping gums of John "Big Head" Kerry... It's about time someone set the record straight on the only leader who is actually doing something to protect us! THE BIG WIN in this book though are the historical accounts that no one can argue with. The terrible nature of depotism, and how passifism and appeasement never, ever, ever, ever, ever work (to steal a line from the also big-headed Rosie O'Donnell). The failures of the UN, and the dangers of running our national security issues by the French for their approval before we act. No Democrats... It's time to accept the 2000 election results, lose the hatred, and take back your party from those who feel that Michael Moore and Howard Dean are centrists. What will you do when you lose the Presidency again plus a few more congressional seats? Who will you and the Sean Penn crowd choose to attack then???

Summary: sociology prof
Review: I have been a professor of political sociology for many years. At several eastern univerisites, I teach courses on war and terrorism and am invited to give guest lectures in both Ivy League and government venues. My classes accept nothing and question everything at my behest soas to maintain some sense of intellectual integrity, and above all truth through replicable research. Mr. Hannity's book lacks the academic and scientific foundations that would qualify it for even the most basic class assignment in one of my Introductory classes. It is based upon oppinion and a flare for self-importance. But, I always give my students a chance to redeem themselves by rewriting their failing work. Sean, you could benefit from that policy.

Summary: Reading to schoolkids?
Review: OK. Sorry to be off-topic, like many detractors of this book, but this just can't be passed up.

The party that prides itself on loving and caring for schoolkids is suddenly scorning the fact that the president was with an elementary school class when the first vague bits of information about 9-11 started coming in. Perhaps the president's opponents think he was out of place - a conservative amongst children. Perhaps they project their own interpretation - a photo opportunity that lingered inappropriately during a national crisis. Or maybe the president was simply acting Presidential in front of the most vulnerable in our society.

Thank heavens he wasn't meeting with corporate chiefs or Halliburton. What a field day THAT would be!

Summary: Why would anyone buy this book?
Review: Here in Australia we get Fox "Classics" on Channel 33 and Fox "News" on Channel 37. At 6:30 in the evening old black and white episodes of "Mr Ed" are being shown on Channel 33 and Sean Hannity is on Channel 37. So you have the choice of watching a talking horse on one channel, and a talking horse's arse on the other!

Summary: What Hannity and Bush Don't Want You to Know
Review: The Forgotten Soldiers of Operation "Iraqi Freedom"

His name's Maurice.

He's 26 years old with a face like an angel and a computerized
prosthesis where his left leg used to be.

His name's Victor and he still seems like a boy.

His cherubic face, set against blond hair, is plagued by an
unanswerable question every time his restless eyes inadvertently fall
on the stump:

"Why?"

His name's Steve and you couldn't imagine a more All-American soldier
-- that is to say if he hadn't lost his right arm.

A real good patriot, he's always in control of himself and he has the
air of an American hero.

His name's Rob.

Bound to a wheelchair, he's mad at the whole world and explodes in a
barrage of insults at everyone and everything for the loss of his
right leg and the uselessness of his left.

Maurice, Victor, Steve, and Rob are just a few of the thousands of
GI's returning from Iraq -- often with one or more limbs amputated,
flown in with little notice under the cover of night and brought to
Walter Reed military Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Here, they're operated on, treated, fitted with prosthetics when
possible, generally medicated, and given psychological and physical
therapy.

For the record, Walter Reed is the hospital where wounded soldiers
returning from Vietnam went.

No fanfare for these heroes.

On top of the injuries they've had to endure to their bodies and
hearts, they come home to be ignored by mainstream American media.

Only an English TV station, Channel 4, considered it newsworthy to go
to the hospital to interview the injured soldiers.

Of course, all interviewees must be selected and briefed by army
leadership in advance of any conversations with journalists.

Curiously, the casualty statistics released by the Pentagon contradict
those of the U.S Army.

While the Pentagon contends that 2722 soldiers have been wounded in
action and 417 in non hostile fire as of March 1, the U.S. Air Force
confides that it has flown approximately 12,000 wounded soldiers into
Andrews Air Force Base over the past 9 months.

With the severity of injuries sustained, it seems like the Pentagon's
reduced estimates are meant to camouflage a scandal that could cost
George Bush his re-election.

"They come here [to Walter Reed Hospital]19 or 20 old and when I see
them leaving with missing limbs - I've seen up to 3 limbs gone off
people and I don't think in our generation, we've seen this amount of
harm done to young people", explained Major General Delaune on public
radio in Minnesota.

"During the Gulf War, there were about 3 soldiers wounded for every
death. In the current Iraq war, there are 7 wounded for every death",
says an article titled "New Technologies and Medical Practices Save
Lives in Iraq" in a Knight-Ridder newsaper.

The facts support this statement: the Kevlar vests the soldiers now
wear save lives, not limbs.

England's newspaper The Guardian reports that the medical personnel,
overwhelmed, work 70-80 hours a week, and according to CBS,
Washington's largest military hospital has had to borrow beds from its
cancer ward to meet the swollen needs of its prosthetics ward.

Still the hospital can't handle the load, and several wounded soldiers
are being put up in a nearby hotel.

Of course you won't be seeing any of this in a Bush campaign ad.

Summary: waaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Enough 1 star reviews from people who haven't even read the book. If you need a newsgroup to make you feel better, go to moveon.org and vent among your own kind. At least have the common decency to read the book first! All the evils of George Bush in one review - 1) Liberated 20 million Iraqi's, 2) liberated millions of women, men, children in Afghanistan, 3) Recovering economy at the fasted rate in history, all after Clinton's 99-01 recession, 4) Removed Libya's WMD program without firing a single shot (in Libya at least), 5) AND gave us more of our hard earned money back in each paycheck, 6) AND if you're a medicare recipient, you should be first in line to re-elect the man!

Summary: Garbled History
Review: Hannity's simple syllogism is: appeasement was wrong for Hitler and it is wrong for terrorists and despots. We must defeat liberals at home if we are to defeat terrorists and despots abroad. But there are certain bits of information missing from Hannity's book. For instance, he compares the policies of Chamberlain and Churchill with respect to appeasing Hitler, but does not discuss the contribution of the great liberal Franklin Roosevelt who lead us through that war and wanted to get involved in the war against Hitler even before Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Roosevelt could not get involved in the war against Hitler, however, because of overwhelming conservative opposition. If not for Pearl Harbor, we never would have confronted Hitler, thanks to conservatives.

Hannity also puts in some unflattering comments and information about Joe Kennedy, Sr. as if to make a point about Kennedy liberals. One problem. Joe Kennedy Sr. was a conservative bigot who hated FDR. Hannity is relying on his readers' ignorance of history, hoping to score a point. If his readers hear "Kennedy" and think "liberal" then he's made a point. Sorry, Sean, this reader any anyone familiar with history knows better.

As for his argument that it was wrong to appease Saddam Hussein, he must be referring to the Reagan administration, who not only appeased Hussein but built him up and sold him weapons for eight consecutive years, even after his use of chemical weapons and other atrocities. Neville Chamberlain might have been an appeaser, Sean, but he never sold weapons and gave money to Hitler the way Reagan did with Hussein (and Bin Laden, but that's another matter).

In sum, what does it say about someone who writes a book knowing that its arguments depend on its readers being totally ignorant of history? Hannity demonstrates his contempt for his readers by doing this, and no one should allow themselves to be fooled in this way.

Summary: Awful
Review: The book caught my attention because of the inflamatory title, which I suppose it was intended to do. I wouldn't dare buy such garbage but a conservative friend of mine let me borrow it.

The very premise that it is possible to prove that "absolute evil" exists and is present in our encounters with terrorism, despotism, and liberalism, is absolutley ludicrous. It's shortsighted and extremely slanted towards right-wing, christian morals. The opinion that the right is somehow morally superior to all else is suspect in itself.

Conservatives like Hannity are all show and no go. They will use images (like the cover of the book) and declarations on their own behalf to claim patriotism and moralism just to make another buck. He and people like him get rich by selling lies to the public. They will tell you how to live and what is right...but it just doesn't apply to them.

Summary: If you want a book that distorts every fact, go for this one
Review: Hannity and Colmes is a joke of a show. Hannity just blabbers on and distorts or uses made up facts created by the Right. Why wouold anyone ever trust anything he says? This book is just constant name calling, something for people with weak minds to read.
