Rating: Summary: Excellent Advice, Recommendations, and Solutions Review: There are many doctors in my family who have witnessed firsthand the disastrous effects of synthetic hormones, compared to the natural bioidentical hormones that are helping both men and women regain their youth, with a dramatic decrease in the symptoms of aging, along with the risks involved directly associated with synthetic hormone replacement. I can only tell you that the research that went into this book brings outstanding recommendations to some of the country's best doctors who are leaders in this field, as well as places to contact if you are looking for further information to do more research on your own so you can make the most intelligent choice that will be best for you. This is another review where I give 5 stars because it clearly brings solutions that will help people make the most informed choices, once they know about different options that are available. An excellent read, and HIGHLY recommended!
Rating: Summary: Loved IT! Review: Miss Somers is a genius, and this book is a very important piece of work for every woman who wants to get back that old juicyness. And when the mood returned, I found that the "New Sex Now" dvd taught me and my husband a new amazing pathway to ecstasy and intimacy. A winning combination to use with the breakthroughs of this book.
Rating: Summary: Valid Effort Review: I hate it when some reviewers say just get a better attitude to deal with perimenopause or menopause. Or there are other medications to use and then not mention them (maybe because they also get negative reviews). You can't assume that other women can just function normally when they go through these hormonal changes. You certainly can't be a man and have a judgemental attitude about it and make any sense. It's not you and we need acceptance for others to try these alternatives. Some cannot function properly when these changes come about but society doesn't allow it to be called a disability. But it is when it interferes in the way you function. Who cares if your taking a risk if you have to so you can function? Everything is a risk. Suzanne made a valid effort with this book and people without conceit appreciate it.
Rating: Summary: One pill doesn't fix millions Review: I've always said to my Dr., family & friends that one pill doesn't fix all. They all thought I'd lost it. My thinking is we are ALL individual humans with different DNA & gene pools. How can 1 pill made in a lab; tested on menopausal women work for EVERYONE. And what about those who have other issues like fiberoids, peri-menopause, hysterectomies, etc. Do they take the same pill? I kept asking my Dr.'s and got the standard answer "well that's what my Medical Journal says." I realize their education in this subject is limited but Suzanne's book goes into that. Science has helped many with illness & disease, and for those discoveries that is to be commended. But menopause & all that comes with aging at this time in a woman's life should be individualized. I'm glad to see the science behind her book & my theory proven. Watch & see how this turns the tables on the drug companies theory that "one pill works for everyone". I'll bet they will be right out there trying to come up with their own personalized compound "mixture" as women start throwing away Premrin & Provera.
Rating: Summary: Suzanne has done it again! Review: Suzanne Somers is a lot more than a pretty face...get this book at any age and get a view and many answers to a time of life that can be a skate...or a nightmare...don't count on the medical profession to know what will help....very few of them have a clue and there are lots of middle aged women...and men who are struggling with more than "the change"...US medical schools fail miserably with nutrition and hormones...all they know is disease and drugs..very profitable, but full of side effects and MORE problems.. This book is full of great information and help...neither I could find here in the nation's capitol...full of Doctors living the good life and no answers...Suzanne has found some forward thinking HEALERS who happen to be Doctors..and they share what they have found really works for their Patients...not the pharmaceutical companies...this is lots of information well presented with humor and caring...Thanks Suzanne!
Rating: Summary: THERE IS HOPE FOR THE 2ND HALF OF LIFE Review: A friend told me about the book, ordered it, read it twice, wrote the web site listed in book, MD personally emailed me, made appointment, and saw the doctor yesterday in Chicago. I cannot wait to have the blood work done and get the results with the bio-identical hormones that Suzanne talks about.
Rating: Summary: A great gift Review: I bought the book for my girlfried after just thumbing through it at the book store. It was the best thing I have ever done for her. If you are a guy and you have a wife or girlfriend I suggest you get this book, for the both of you..
Rating: Summary: GOOD IDEAS BUT NOT ENOUGH INFORMATION Review: This book is more about her life than what I wanted to hear. Not enough information about the natural hormones she is raving about.I was disappointed.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY A MUST READ BOOK Review: All you baby boomers need to get smart on natural hormones. The drug companies do not make money on natural hormones. After being on synthetic hormones for years and starting to feel sick I knew I had to stop . After reading this book I felt that my life was not going to be down hill. Since then I have started on natural hormones and I can already see an improvement after a few weeks. It only makes sense. I have never read any of her books until this one caught my eye and it has changed my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Rating: Summary: This seems to be just another Somers product to sell Review: I have to admit,I don't usually buy celebrity self-help books but I bought this one because the title caught my attention. While there are parts of this book that give a positive spin on getting older, for the most part it seems as if it is just another product Suzanne and her "manager-husband" are shilling to the public. The premise of the book is that after a certain age, unless and until you take bioidentical hormones, your body and mind are going to pot. For women, dried ou vaginas and dried out brain cells are a definite, while for men, lack of(gasp!) desire and doddering frailty will be the norm. The testimonials from doctors and friends did not impress me as the doctors have something to sell and the friends were hand-picked to deliver just the right angst and feelings of terror about getting older. Suzanne Somers has obviously had "some work done" and I wish she would just admit it like other actors her age have done. I don't begrudge her the funds for plastic surgery, I've done it myself, but she wants you to believe that her beauty is all due to hormones. Taking care of one's health and being proactive about it is one thing and a positive one at that. However, I still feel that this book was a wate of my money and it made feel as if I was at an 1800's carnival show where someone was hawking snakeoil. Don't make Ms. Somers richer by buying the book.
