Rating: Summary: This Book Is DA BOMB!! Review: This book is fun for all ages. It is my favorite kids book! It teaches you your alphabets in a fun way.
Rating: Summary: A preschooler's book adults can love Review: Sometimes I despair of finding a decent children's book written after 1960. All that seems to be written these days is heavy, awful didactic stuff that appears to be written by someone who has never even seen a child, let alone talked to one. When I sit down to read to my little nephews, I generally turn to the classics of my childhood, or of my parents' childhood. And then I discovered Chicka Chicka Boom Book.
The book is nothing more than an extended rhyme about the letters of the alphabet climbing (and falling from) a coconut tree. The artwork is extrememly simple- it reminds me a little of Matisse' paper cutouts. The text has a wonderful rhythmic structure that has kids chanting along in no time. "Chicka chicka boom boom- will there be enough room? A, B and C up the coconut tree!"
It sounds silly. I know. But I really love this book.
Rating: Summary: Children will love the rhythm, the rhyme, and the pictures. Review: This is an entertaining book. I find myself humming
it many times. It's very rhythmic and catchy and
really helps teach the alphabet in a fun way. My baby can't talk but when I say "chicka chicka", he
says "boom boom". I need a new book. We've worn
out ours.
Rating: Summary: As much fun to read as to hear Review: A really wonderful alphabet book. One you won't mind reading over and over again. Great meter, 26 fine characters, plus parents, uncles and aunts. Just the right amount of fun mischief. Ages 1 to 4 to read to. Will become a read it myself favorite about age 5 or 6
Rating: Summary: Great rhythmic book Review: This book is so much fun to read, and the bright pictures are very attractive to kids. As a bonus, your child learns their ABCs! Although keep in mind that they won't learn the sounds the letters make, like in other alphabet books (such as Dr. Seuss's ABC), which is more helpful for learning to read. Still, you can't really say a bad word about this book. It's great fun!
Rating: Summary: Nice catchy poem to teach the ABC's Review: "Skit skat doodle doot, flip flop flee..." this book is a favorite of my daughters even though their reading proficiency is well beyond this book now. A fun book for children just getting into the alphabet. Another book that brings back fond memories of reading to my little ones.
Rating: Summary: Jamberry Rocks! Review: I wonder why it took 3 people to "write" this book when the "chicka boom" is borrowed from an old Van Morrison song, who borrowed it from an old chidren's chant; and the "illustrations" are no more than letters cut out from colored paper!
Rating: Summary: A Winner! Review: We were first introduced to this book through the video, which my son watched at Pre-School. The song is infectious - you can't "read" the book after seeing the video and hearing the song. It made learning the ABC's fun and musical. We also loved the other books introduced on the video, in particular Trashy Town - another winner!
Rating: Summary: THIS SHOULD BE REGARDED AS A CLASSIC!!! Review: My 18 month old son loves this book so much that he has me read it to me 3-4 times in a row everytime we pick it up. I myself have a lesson to learn from this book. The lesson provided is to keep getting back up even though you've fallen and that everyone falls sometimes. My son literally cries when the letters come falling down because he can relate. He sniffles at the next page when the mamas and papas come and hug and dust off their babies, and by the time we make it to, "M is looped, N is stooped, O is twisted alley-oop, skit skat skoodle doot, flip flop flee", he is laughing and giggling. And he smiles in the end when the letter 'A' triumphs in a final and sucessful climb in the moon light. The ryhyming and word play are fun and charming. Nowhere have a found anything that takes a child through the emotional trama of failing and then helps them up and out of it, giving them courage to try again (and they learn the alphabet at the same time!). This book belongs on everyone's shelf. I don't care how old you are. It's a life lesson we all need to learn.
Rating: Summary: Family favorite Review: The friend that gave me this book for my baby told me that it was her daughter's favorite book and she had to read it day in and day out. Well, guess what? Now it's our favorite book and it's read over, and over, and over...
It's a wonderful way to introduce youngsters to the alphabet and it's easy for them to learn it to. Whenever you introduce learning with either music or rhythm like this book has, it's pretty unforgettable. It's fun to add your own voice inflections in this book to hear the squeals of laughter, especially when the whole alphabet falls in the end. It's one of the best books out there for little ones so don't pass it by. Check out the video too!
