Rating: Summary: An Alphabet Book With a Difference Review: This is an alphabet book of another color. Instead of lists of A is for Awful, B is for Bad, this book treats the letters as characters. The small letter a proposes a race up to the top of a coconut tree, But what starts as a race among a few letters turns into a race for the entire alphabet of small letters. But all of the letters are too much for the tree and they all fall to be rescued and cared for by their big letters. But did little a learn its lesson? My daughter heard this book in school and has begged for it ever since. I can't say a whole lot for the artwork, but the letters are large and easy to see while the "scenery" is very minimalist. It is nice to see the alphabet treated in a whole new way.
Rating: Summary: Parents and kids will love this fun book! Review: I enjoyed this book so much, I am purchasing the board book version of it. It is one of the few books I have read to my daughter and day care children that totally drew them in from the second line. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a daring yet impish race of the small alphabet letters up to the top of a coconut tree with vivid artwork on every page. When the tree is weighed down with all the letters, it bends and the child-like letters fall down to be picked up by the large letters described as the mamas and the papas and the uncles and the aunts. Theya re all gathered up and put to bed when all the sudden out comes little a again..and the fun starts again. It is so fun to read for the adults too. What a great way to show the relationship betwen large and small alphabet letters! We even started a game with me saying, "Chicka chicka?" and them cheering back, "BOOM BOOM!" The author captures the tone of children at play, keeps a rhythm that is easy to follow, and provides a warm sunny way for children to remember the alphabet. It is well worth the money and I will look for more offerings from the author in the future. I also used it as a tool for homeschooling my daughter who has just turned 4. After the purchase and use of this book, she can easily recognize all letters large and small which makes it so much easier when you work on phonics and early reading. The book made it FUN and that is what I liked the most. Get this book!!! It's educational, affordable, and fun!

Rating: Summary: Color, action, rhythm & rhyme - perfect for the very young. Review: Incorporating a whimsical approach to teaching the alphabet, John Archambault's and Lois Ehlert's cacophony of color and text, "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom," could be the perfect book for toddlers. We started reading this to our son when he was just an infant, and to our surprise he was able to recite his entire alphabet by the time he was eighteen months old. The credit, in part, must go to this clever book. The daring, lowercase "a" takes it upon himself to clamber up a lowly palm tree, calling out to the rest of the little letters to join him in the adventure. Unable to resist, the whole alphabet finds itself up in the now perilously bent tree. But soon- "Oh no! Chicka, chicka, BOOM, BOOM!" - chaos ensues as all find themselves in a heap on the ground, calling out to their uppercase parents, aunts, and uncles who soon arrive to help. Scrapes are soothed, tears are wiped, and the little letters eventually leave the scene of the disaster. That is until the moon shines bright and "a" repeats his taunt. Told in bright colors, with big, round shapes and letters, this tale is a feast for the eyes. Author Archambault rhymes his tale, making it easy to remember (our son reads along with us on this book, unable to resist the lilting text.) The feel of the story makes it seem almost like an African parable, heavy on rhythm and sound, with memorable lines that stick with you and your child long after the cover is closed. One of the finest children's book ever written, "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" should be a part of any young child's library. It's a story one can never tire of reading.
Rating: Summary: A great book from a teen who loves it Review: I really really enjoyed this book. Not only did it teach the alphabet, but also gave fun to those who read it. When I first read Chika Chika Boom Boom, that saying just stayed in my head forever. I remember I was in science class and that saying just popped in my head. I knew that one day I would need to buy this classic and make sure that I read it to my kids someday.
Rating: Summary: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - What a hit! Review: My 4 month old daughter loves when I read this book. Perhaps it's the little embellishments such as WHEEEEEEE said "d" to e f g. She smiles and giggles. A must have!
Rating: Summary: Rhythm and repetition Review: One of my 3 year-old's favorite bedtime books. He loves the rhyming.
Rating: Summary: =) Review: if you dont own this book, you should expecially if you have some youngins. its a great book that captures the minds, with a great little tune, that you'll never get outta your head, even 10 years later after the first time you read it. Its a good thing though i almost assure you.
Rating: Summary: Better ABC books exist Review: This book is reminiscent of the earlier Dr. Seuss ABC book. Both use rhythm, story line, and nonsense words to teach alphabet letters. But Dr. Seuss has an imaginative vignette for each letter and the rhymes are much better. This is one of those books which I expected to like but didn't. As a result, I find it hard to be enthusiastic when reading it to my child.
Rating: Summary: A great book for childeren Review: The book "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" is one of the best books, I think, for childeren. This book creates a way to have fun but also learn at the same time. It rhymes help the kids learn the alphabet in a fun and creative way...
