Summary: Cross, come back
Review: I love James Patterson's works, particuarly his Alex Cross detective. I like his style of writing - short chapters with the last sentence urging you on to the next. I like his cut to the chase, no frills or extraneous dialogue. So I bought this book with his Women's Murder Club replacing Cross figuring it's Patterson -how can it be bad. The first few chapters grabbed me and I was hooked -even told my book buddy that she'd like it. Then as I read further, disappointment set in. Shock violence, kinky sex (reminded me of Kiss the Girls; the only Alex Cross I disliked) and mediocre dialogue. I can't imagine Lindsay, Claire, Cindy and Jill who were top notch in their own fields would ever do what they did, let alone be able to do it without repercussions from their bosses and companies. The only character I liked was Chris. The overriding sex theme throughout just turned me off. I wish the characters were developed more - he concentrated on Lindsay to some degree and maybe the others will be developed in subsequent novels. However, I did finish the book with its many twists and turns, but will not buy the next one with these characters. I saw on the book jacket that he is writing a new Alex Cross novel as well as the second one in this series. Anxiously awaiting Alex!

Review: All right, so Patterson's "Kiss The Girls" was a book I could not put down but enough already! I don't mind serial killers romping around the best-seller lists (one wizard, nonewithstanding) but at least create believable characters, Mr. Patterson! My tirade goes beyond him to other authors--you know who you are. Chapters are short, but not terse; characters have emotions but flat. Do yourself a favor and wait for the paperback or even better, go to the library for the book if you must read Patterson

Summary: The book's popularity shows the public's bad taste
Review: After seeing this authors books listed on the best seller's list for quite a while, I finally decided to read this one. What a disapointment. I would have expected the plot of this book to appear in one of the tabloids, it is that bad. A best selling novelist kills married couples on their first night in their hotel rooms after the wedding ceremonies and then sexually abuses the dead brides. This killer also abuses his several spouses. The author also creates a policewoman with a terminal illness and the secondary plot of her battle with her ailment which adds little to the storyline while she strives to solve this absurd tale of a serial murderer. The prose is very simplistic. I have difficulty trying to understand what possible entertainment or merit readers'can find in this work. If you have not read this book yet, don't bother.

Summary: Interesting New Concept
Review: As a fan of James Patterson's Alex Cross series, I approached this new venue of a Women's Murder Club with cautious optimism. The novel introduces four women, a policewoman, a reporter, a coroner and an Assistant D.A., coming together to solve a rash of sadistic, erotic bride and groom killings. I found the combination of characters fairly interesting especially in their interaction in working outside of the system. However, it was only the character of Lindsay Boxer, the staunch policewoman, that Patterson takes the time to develop well. The other three women of the club seemed to play minor roles to Boxer. While the plot line was interesting, it was the unusual twist at the end which really caught my attention. However, the novel did not allow the reader to truly get inside the head of the killer and truly understand the motives behind the killing. This was saved toward the end which I found to be let down after the development and twists of the murder investigation. This has the potential to be a good series and I am looking forward to the next installment, however, if you are someine who likes to read the last page of a novel first, don't do it this time lest you spoil the entire story.

Review: Mr. Patterson has moved in another direction with this novel and the characters are refreshing and entertaining as they work to solve this mystery. I hope we see more of them in the future. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read.

Summary: Great new series
Review: I am a James Patterson fan, especially his Alex Cross novels, however this new series is so good. I was happy to see that the jacket stated that he is working on another Alex Cross novel in addition to the 2nd book of this new series. The story line is simuliar, but with 4 women who are trying to solve the crime. Buy this book, it is GREAT!!

Summary: Quick read - but not up to his standard
Review: If I bought this book off the paperback rack to read at the beach, I'd be pleased. It was a quick read with a surprise ending. However, Patterson's attempt to get inside the mind of a woman and her group of female friends left something to be desired. The mystery plot was intertwined with the quickly developing friendship of four women and it was a lame attempt at best. I had to often suspend my disbelief that people make lifetime friendships within the space of a week or two, or even after one meeting. Some men, i.e. Memoirs of a Geisha, can get write well in the female 1st person, Patterson needs more practice.

Review: Could a real, experienced police person really say, "there is a whole bunch of blood"? A whole bunch...come on now, James lets have some authenticity. I also agree with the reviewer that said the women were whining and totally unrealistic. A good plot but James Patterson is getting sloppier with every book.
