Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Money Review: I wasn't going to buy the book but it was at the wholesale club I go to and I decided to buy it on the spur of the moment. What a waste of time & money - absolutely nothing new and frankly it was one of the most boring diet books I have ever picked up. He just tried to put a different spin on it with lots of words and sentences that a lot of times made very little sense.

It is not a hard read and the book is filled with good advice that may or may not change the way that you think about yourself and food. I know how easy it is to look at other reviews and such to get a feel but Dr. Phil is a phenomenon that some people get while other people don't- just like any other psychologist out there. I think that the best advice for anyone who likes Dr. Phil or is leaning toward giving him a chance should- millions of people can't be all wrong. By the way I have read the Ultimate Weight Solution and while it may not have been miracle work...it gave me confidence and a sense of control that will help me eat right in the weeks and maybe even years to come. I am not one of those people who gets into fad diets or anything like that, i like to follow a more practical route so i am not saying that the book is a fad diet that i will do strictly for weeks, instead it is a practical and quite interactive books to help you- you are the only one who can save you. It promises change not miracles and that is exactly what it delivers.
Rating: Summary: Inspiring Review: I found Dr. Phil's new book to be very inspiring. I learned to not let myself get stressed out over my weight and to think positive thoughts instead of beating myself up all the time. It's all about reprogramming my negative outlook into a positive one. Replacing old habits (eating bad) with new ones. For example, when a craving comes on go take a shower or something. Make a list of things you can do for a few minutes until the craving has passed and you have forgotten it. Dr. Phil used to come into his house after work through the kitchen and nibble on everything on the way. He then started coming through and different door and eliminated all of those obsticles. I definatly felt inspired by this book more than any other diet book. Dr. Phil doesn't tell you to eat this or eat that as much as he tells you to reprogram your negative thoughts about dieting and about yourself.
Rating: Summary: Team with Exercise and Begin to lose! Review: I have been so excited about this book coming out and I am SOOOOOO not disappointed. I took Dr. Phil's advice and this weekend I started to eat with the portion rules and started to question myself each time i was picking up a piece of food. A few times i found i was doing it out of boredom and others after i felt i deserved it and something struck me...I was doing exactly what Dr. Phil warned me about in the Ultimate. At first i had ignored some of what he said, thinking i was not that kind of person and anyone would know now to do something so dumb but that is exactly the kind of patterns that had me reaching for the refrigerator door. i was so confident i wasn't "that kind" of person that it took Dr. Phil's book to show me that i was but that i could change. I know lots of people are just like me and only need someone to show them how to ask themselves the right questions for them to realize what they have been doing to themselves and how they can stop. I also took Dr. Phil's advice and started to find other activities to take my mind off eating...and exercising is one of those activities. My daughter sent me 8 Minutes in the Morning a while back so i thought i would start doing that because Dr. Phil spoke about how beneficial weight lifting is. I love this book as well. I was kind of amazed becuase i hadnt given the book a chance. So i am now balancing my program with a good, healthy diet according to Dr. Phil (without emotional eating) and doing exercise...I can't wait to see the results because i know that they will be great.
Rating: Summary: There wasn't anything I would disagree with in this book! Review: There is a lot to say for plain, unadulterated common sense. Dr. Phil is famous for it and he strikes gold once again with his new book The Ultimate Weight Solution. Dr. Phil doesn't beat around the bush or try to soften the blow of truth...instead he gives you the kind of advice you can take with you for the rest of your life. He also gives unconditional support to those who reach out and try...that is all he wants you to do, try. It is easy enough and he believes, as is obvious in his book, that if you try you will eventually succeed. I say eventually because weight change will not happen over night...I for one do not think healthy weight loss ever happens over night, only unhealthy. I said in my title that there was nothing that I disagreed with in this book and that is because, even if I have heard it before as other reviewers have mentioned, it is still very true. I am very happy that I picked up Dr. Phil's book and I think you will be too.
Rating: Summary: Pay attention Review: I have just started reading this book and plan on buying it for several friends. How many times does it have to be reiterated this isn't a "NEW" plan? For those of us overweight we are looking for a magic pill...guess what...it ain't out there! Losing weight takes work and eating healthy. If it were easy everyone would be skinny. Come on, do you think we like being fat! Overweight people are looking for an answer, an answer that may make since for them when they read Dr. Phil's book. If they have read all the other books and like me are still overweight then they are still struggling to find the answer. Give us a chance here to find that answer instead of raging on about how it's the same old stuff and Dr. Phil is fat, GET A LIFE! It sounds like to me that the poor reviews are from those that don't want to do the work. The one that is complaining about him being too dam rich already is just jealous. I have been eating healthy and exercising for about a month and I am steadily loosing weight. I still bought the book looking for answers in my lifelong problem with weight. It's helping me already. Bottom line...each person is different and Dr. Phil's book is going to help some people. I don't know how many, but I would bet that it will be thousands, if it saved only one person's life it would have been worth him writing this book. Good luck to those looking for the answer.
Rating: Summary: I highly recommend the Ultimate Weight Solution! Review: I highly recommend this book, not because i have 50 punds to lose but because Dr. Phil is different...his advice is not new but it is unique in its presentation. This may not be the book for you, as it doesnt seem to be for some of the reviewers, but for those of you who have read Dr. Phil's other books or watch his show and actually gain something from them this is the kind of book for you because it is what work "for you." We are all different in the way that we react to certain stimulus. i think this book was written for the type of people that are willing to take a closer look at their life (and their eating habits) instead of mindlessly following a diet plan that strictly regulates what you are putting into your body and how...that kind of diet may be for some and work miracles for them but this is for people lie me out there who need a friend not a plan. Dr. Phil is there...i cannot wait to see his new season and how he conquers the weight issue on his show. I loved him on Katie Couric!!!
Rating: Summary: You owe it to yourself to read this book! Review: Unlike some reviewers, I have read this book from cover to cover. I recommend this book to those that have tried to lose weight in the past, but never had the "willpower" to see it through. This book is not about "willpower". Dr Phil will show you how to lose weight without willpower and WHY we can't commit to a healthy lifestyle. The 7 keys are the secret to KEEPING the weight off for good! Give him a chance...you'll thank yourself for getting this book.
Rating: Summary: drivel Review: I'd like to give this book zero stars. Dr. Phil is out of his element spewing homilies about dieting and fitness. This is an area better left to those who have the credentials to propose healthy diet and nutrician plans. Even his "physchology" regarding weight loss lacks any real substance. Very disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Greatest non-diet diet book out there! Review: i have read almost all of the reviews on this book and i HAVE read the book as well. I must agree with all the reviews out there that saw the very real and very sound advice this book has to offer. i am so proud of Dr. Phil for taking the time out to do something so close to his heart- helping overweight clients. Dr. Phil has told us repeatedly how long he has worked with such patients and i think it is a testimony to his credit how long it has taken him to come out with a book. He waited until he felt that he had everything he needed to know to give "old" advice in a way that would wake everyone up and show them the answers to questions they may not have been ready to ask. Dr. Phil talks about being "ready"- Are You Ready? - and explains to the reader all they need to be ready and understand that what he is telling them is not new, they simply were not ready to hear it because of all the emotional baggage blocking up there ears. Dr. Phil works not to get another "diet" book out there- he works to get the right information out there in a way people can finally swallow. no pills, no frills- just Dr. Phil.
