Rating: Summary: Good idea, but thin on style. Review: I love the story line and where the series is heading, but LaHaye and Jenkins need to slow down and develope the characters a little more and juice up the dialogue and make it more realistic. There's a novel out there called, 'The Fist of God' by A.T Nicholas. It will blow you away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The plot is awesome, and Nicholas has a fresh twist on the old storyline of good against evil. His chapters and writing style is fast and slick, he gets to the point quick, he packs the book with rich symbolism and vivid imagery. And the dialogue between characters is realistic. I loved it! You will too.
Rating: Summary: Fading quality Review: Maybe it's because I just read a great novel about WWII, The Triumph and the Glory, but Nicolae, which I read next, didn't do much for me. I really liked Left Behind, it was great! Tribulation Force was not quite as well done, but still OK. I was hoping Nicolae would redeem the series but it hasn't, it just seemed so contrived and forced.
Rating: Summary: Theses books are the bomb ! Review: I'm not what you would say a big reader, i'm 16 and have read about 10 books in my life volenterily (I can't spell either) but this series is soooooo good that i'm reading a book every 3 days. I recommend these books to anyone and everyone, believer or non believer, fundamentalist or baptist.
Rating: Summary: Slowest of the first three Review: Though the story (I guess I should say prophecy yet to be fullfilled) brings the reader deeper into the mire of earthly doom, Nicolae (book 3 of 7) is the slowest so far.For a novel that is 415 pages long, I felt it could have moved at a much faster pace. Don't get me wrong, there are at least 2 exciting moments in the book that were real page turners, but the other 350 pages dragged on. It does help further along some character development and their are a few interesting sub plots, but I look forward to the 4th, for it appears now things are about to pick up for the Tribulation Force and the forces of good and evil. My only real complaint is some of the hokey dialouge. I consider myself christian, and yet I don't hear people talk like the characters do in real lide. The dialouge is at times, campy, like June and Ward Cleaver. If the end times are upon us, reality would be much harsher than portrayed here. I give this book 2 1/2 stars.
Rating: Summary: A fantastic journey! Review: I commend the authors for writing this book. I could not put it down. I was hooked on the first book but the Series keeps getting better. I think this is the best so far. The characters are vivid and real. The plot is biblically based and it gives me an additional boose just knowing that I won't be left behind!
Rating: Summary: Captivating! Review: This is the most exciting book! I absolutly loved how the authors depicted the "end times". If you like suspense you should definetly read this book. It's one of those books where you just can't seem to put it down. No sooner do you tell yourself to stop after the next paragragh then something leaves you hanging.
Rating: Summary: If you belive the bible is the word of God, read these books Review: These books are great reading. If you study the bible, you can see how this could very easily happen. I couldn't put the books down. A friend loaned them to me. I liked them so much I'm going to buy them all even though I have already read them.
Rating: Summary: Ummm...what if we're all wrong? Review: This thought just occurred to me, but what if Nicolae isn't the Antichrist, and actually Buck or Rayford is?!? Wouldn't that be the ultimate plot twist? The Bible says that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light, and maybe the good people are really evil and the evil people are really good. Or even worse, what if this whole Left Behind series is really not Christian at all? What if we're just being manipulated by demonic forces? What if these books are actually causing Christians to sin by being more materialistic (buying more books) and more covetous (wanting the next book as soon as possible)? I'm going to be a little more careful about all this stuff now. I mean, what if Y2K hits and all the non-Christians disappear and all the Christians are left on earth to suffer God's judgment? You never know - it could happen!
Rating: Summary: A very predictable plot with poor dialogue. Review: For those that are recently convert Christians, this book might be somewhat interesting. However, it lacks depth and character building. The plot is simple and predictable and paces itself in order to spread out the story over several books.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE this Series!!! Nicolae included!! Review: I work full-time, maintain several websites, and still have had time to read Book 1, 2 & now Nicolae. Maybe it's not "literature.." as some of the others have said, but it doesn't have to be to make good reading. I think it's simple, easy to read, easy to keep up with, and it has definately held my my attention. I'm a born-again Christian who has had many questions about end times, and I feel Nicolae comes very close to describing the type of person he will be. The ongoing change in his personality is just as the devil would be. He comes "as an angel of light" at first, and then once he has you wants to destroy and kill you! These books have heated up the "evangelistic side" of my nature and I'm glad Kimberly, a friend in Esther, suggested these books to me. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and am planning on promoting these books from my website. Keep it up and by the way, I've been praying this becomes a hit movie for you as well!!
