Summary: WOW!!! Most Impressive.
Review: I have been reading fantasy/sci fi for almost two decades now, and I must say that in all of my readings I have never been so fully consumed by a book and a fantasy world the way "A Game of Thrones" consumed me. Not only in his world intriging, his characters are more realistic and human than most other heros/heroins of the great epic adventures. I have told all of my friends of this great book and a few of them are already cursing me for this delay in publishing, like I had anything to do with it. Read this book!!!It is a must have. You will want to read it again and again. I've found that I have a new addiction and it is George R.R. Martin.

Summary: The best Fantasy novel yet!!!!!!!!
Review: This is by far the best fantasy book to hit the shelves ....I use to think Jordan was but I was very wrong. Bring out the next book fast but I hope it is just as thick or bigger than this one :o) I feel sorry for Jordan and his WoT he lost track and Martin is Blowing him away. The way Martin brings the characters alive is breath taking .....so much so that I could not put it down once I piced it up. Read this GREAT BOOK

Summary: Absolutely amazing! "A Game of Thrones" is spell binding.
Review: It has been literally YEARS since I've read a book that has captured my attention in the way that "A Game of Thrones" has done. I bought the book at the beginning of this week and finished it on the Friday! It would have been finished sooner but - I have to work! The characters and the world which Martin has created are absolutely amazing. There are plots within plots and IT IS NOT PREDICTABLE - this fact in itself will make me an avid fan of Martin for life. The detail and realism regarding human nature is mind boggling - I would like to meet the author and have a converstation with him. I can't wait for the follow-up book to be published!!!

Summary: One Of The Most Impressive SF Books I've Read Yet that flows
Review: Let me begin by sayen this book keeps you reading from page one.Now I have read alot of authers before George R.R Martin and I will put him agianst almost everyone. The way he can make the plots and subplots fit in and still keep the reading to " I wonder whats going to happen to him or next" . I would recomend this book to any begginner in SF or any die hard SF fan.

Summary: George R.R. Martin Saves the Fantasy Genre
Review: 'A Game of Thrones' peels itself from traditional fantasy's old wornout shirt. With this style Martin creates engaging sub-plots that are as mysterious as are enticing, yet he never strays far from his focus as often as another king of this genre does (Jordan). I have been awaiting the month of May for sometime, and finding out that the published date has been moved back to ? has my wife very angry with Bantom. This series is a must read for any fiction fans.

Summary: A Class of his own
Review: Like many of the reviewers, I have read many many S.F. Books. I have never re-read one of them. No so, with This book. I have read it over and over. Each time I like it more. Mr. Martins work is magical. I care about and am interested in each of his characters because they are not your typical "superhuman" heroes but just ordininary people facing difficult circumstances with courage and strength. Mr. Martin truly is in a class of his own. I know he will have a fantastical career, and I will be the beneficiary.

Summary: The next great fantasy series.
Review: I am the worlds number one fantasy fan . I am 16 and I have read nearly every series in the genre( and I mean it). I have been a faithful jordanite(wot)for 6 years but in this book I have found a new champion. A Game of Thrones is truly one of the greatest fantasy novels ever. Martin has a masterpeice here . The story line is mysterious and magical as well as unpredictable. The characters seem to live and breath . Martin has definitely shot to the top of the genre . And hopefully the rest of the series will push him to the peak. I am telling you, you have to read this book!

Summary: A very good read!
Review: I am an avid fantasy/scifi reader, and I am very impressed with this book. I tore through it like the pages were on fire. Although Martin's book is fantasy, it contains traces of historical references (the deposed family remided me an awful lot of the British Stuarts...) The characters were deep, and the story was very good. My favorite fantasy writers are Margret Weiss and Tracy Hickman of 'Dragonlance' fame, and Glen Cook, author of the "Black Company" series. I did not ever think that a series would top either one of these, but if Martin keeps up at hsi current skills, I will be wrong!

Summary: The very definition of a classic...
Review: I have recommended Game of Thrones to every last one of my friends, and in every case, they came to me when they were finished reading the book with a look of wide-eyed wonder on their faces. Martin accomplished more in just one book than Jordan has managed in SEVEN. Game of Thrones is sweeping and powerful, evoking mythic elements and a grand sequence of events that resonate like a Shakespearean tragedy. I eagerly await A Clash of Kings, and like another reviewer, I intend to save these books for the day my children are ready to read a classic fantasy series.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: As powerful as the best of Burroughs and Silverburg.
Review: Stories of this caliber demonstrate how rare good writing really is.

If Martin can maintain the quality of the subsequent books in this series, it will surely be ranked as the finest example of a fantasy epic written. I will treasure these books and carefully preserve them for my son.
