Rating: Summary: A worthy sequel Review: The plot from the previous book intensifies and we are thrown in the middle of the war in the Westeros. While the realm is in turmoil, there are other powerful threats gathering at the edge of the world of man. Keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the unresolved twist at the end...but I guess Mr. Martin will see to it in the next book.
Rating: Summary: What a fantasy . Or is it fantasy ? It seems so real . Review: Dear Mr George R.R. Martin , It is all of your fault that I wander through out the bookstores aimlessly looking for something to read . Please finish the sequel to "A Clash Of Kings " . I need to move on , find a new author ; but I find myself wondering what Jon Snow is doing . Gosh that Drawf is smart . Is he really such a bad guy ? Will I ever pick up another book again until I read the sequel ?
Rating: Summary: simply awsome Review: A Game of thrones was just book I happened to pick up in an airport when i came short of a book to read. It was even a bad print, but 2 weeks later, having finished it, i fell in love with it and immediately ordered A Clash of Kings, which managed to top off the previous further. So far its aiming to be of the best fantasy I've read, and it still feels like its building up to an even greater end. hoping the end won't come soon, but when the hell will the third book come out? Thing is, I assume George R R Martin has long since thought up most if not all the plot and the ending is probably set from his view, but from here i'm not interested in that ending anytime soon, i just want it to go on!
Rating: Summary: Almost as good as the first Review: This is a book I waited for (read it as soon as it was out in hardcover) and had high expectations on. I can say nothing but that it lived up to most of them. The pace of the story slowes down somewhat, this is not bad since it gives time to view and develop the caracters. It also enables Martin to hint at new things to come (smart since this it makes me want the next book). The drawback of the book is that it occasionaly feels as if most of the book is nothing but setup, sure some pretty dramatic battles take place but the two real threats to the realm does not begin to move untill the end of the book (and somehow you feel there is more to come). This is not bad (and exellent buissiness) but I am afraid that Martin might fall into the trap that Jordan (Whhel of time) and Pratchet (Discworld) has fallen in. Two good writers who have discovered that they need not write great books to sell anymore. This makes them produce lots of mediocre instead of a few brilliant. But this is still an exellent work of fiction. The caracters that interessted in the first book now storm forward in new directions making you desperate for the sequal to see how they turn out. Why not five stars? Martin is an exellent fantasy writer but there are (as said here and in what I wrote about "A Game of Thrones") a few things that prevents him from beeing the best. However I am not so sure enough in this that the next book might not change my mind.
Rating: Summary: Addiction Review: I just finished A Clash of Kings and I can honestly say that this trilogy is a drug. Every chapter is a cliff hanger. When a chapter ends, I am dying to know what happens next. But, does that urge get satisfied? Not until you get through the next nail-biting chapters that contain just as exhilarating and hair raising parallel stories, all of which seem to be slowly coming together. But beware, right when you think you are satisfied and start making that dog ear in the page before falling asleep, you realize that you have to know what will happen to the character that was just captured. All of a sudden its 3:00am and your alarm clock is set to go off for work in another three hours. I sit here waiting George R.R. Martin to send me my next fix and feel like I am in the movie Basketball Diaries.
Rating: Summary: A Game Of Thrones Review: I have just beugn to read this book. In less than 50 pages I was hooked. This book os full of scheming, dasterdly charachters, capable of unthinkable acts. Charachter development is detailed and realistic. I am excited at finding another interesting series to keep me busy waiting for more "Wheel of Time" and other popular series new arrivals.
Rating: Summary: Killer Read Review: An excellent mix of political intrigue, adventure, in depth relations and betrayal. An brilliant continuation to what I hope to be an ongoing series. When I finished reading it, I knew I would be on the edge of my seat until the third book came out. Here I am still bitting my nails. Please Mr. Martin hurry up and bring out another book.
Rating: Summary: INCREDIBLE Review: This book is greatness. You will never find a book more enthralling, more enchanting, or more complicated than Clash of Kings. If any of you have the time, sit down, and read this book. Today if possible.
Rating: Summary: An excellen book Review: All I can say about this book is that it is wonderful. The story is so in depth that you find yourself utterly endulged in the plot and unable close the pages shut. The story is amazing, dark, grim. You find yourself absolutely hating the villans and falling in love with the heroes. All in all, it is a wonderful book where anything can and will happen. The bad part? Waiting for the next one.
Rating: Summary: The Art of Character Development Review: One of the first books to introduce the artform of character development to me was Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. An epic following an ex-con throughout his life, and the lives of those he touched. And since I read that years ago, I have longed for another epic that could be as powerfully written, as dramatic and intense, and convey personas that were more than text. Finally, I've found something that fits this criteria, and A Song of Ice and Fire is it. Martin has established himself, in my mind, as one of the top authors in today's market. His style is unique and extreme, he takes many risks right down to the vulgarity and brutality of A Clash of Kings. Instead of censoring his work so he doesn't offend or disgust those readers who think fiction should reflect the 9 'oclock news, he pursues the reality of the situations. By far my favorite character (who probably absorbed the best scenes of the book) would be Tyrion Lannister. Previously John Snow was simply blowing my mind, but Tyrion's twists throughout this rampant world struck me not only as brilliant, but somehow uplifting. John Snow's ending battle was a masterful stroke in the story, and Arya's progress keeps the drama and heart attached. I would like to see Draenary's playing a larger role in the next book (if I spelled her name right, if not my apologies), but I was content in seeing her establish a strong footing in a foreign land. I'll be waiting on pins and needles for the third book, and I heard the same rumor as some other reviewers, that there may be a five or so wait until the 4th edition. I only hope this proves false.
