Summary: A moving, heart warming story
Review: I am not the type of a guy that would read this type of a book, but its amazing what you will read while stuck for hours on a plane. With each page I was more engrossed with this great story. Its a simple story, yet it cannot help but touch the heart. If you want a quick read (under 200 pages) that will make your day and make you look at the many demensions of your life, this is clearly the book of the year!

Summary: Who would you meet in heaven?
Review: the five people you meet in heaven is the story of Eddie, a bitter war veteran, who after struggling for a meaning in his life spent working at an amusement park, dies unexpectedly at the age of 83 while trying to save the life of a child at the amusement park.

When Eddie dies, he is taken to a place unlike what most people visualize as Heaven. He is greeted by five people one after another who have had the greatest impact on his life, whether he realized it while he was living or not, these people changed the path of his life forever.

Outstandingly written, the five people you meet in heaven is a thoughtful and inspiring journey that takes you beyond the realms of your own imagination. Any fan of Mitch Albom's writing will not be disappointed, as no other tale could capture the beauty of life as this does and be as appealing to audiences of all ages.

Summary: A Unique Piece of Literature
Review: I guess if you have to compare it, the most natural choice of comparison for THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN is either TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE due to the author or A CHRISTMAS CAROL due to the flashback of a life lived. However I feel it far more just to judge THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN for what it is...a self contained book. It is not a sequel or a retelling. It is a unique piece of literature and one I enjoyed much to the same great extent as SECRET LIFE OF BEES and MY FRACTURED LIFE.

Summary: Beautiful! - and wonderfully moving!
Review: This is one of the most beautiful, soulful books I've read in a long time. Well-paced yet unforced, it asks, in very simple language, some of the most profound questions connected with being alive. It follows Eddie, a self-sacrificing war veteran in his journey from this world to the next -- and in doing so, comes to re-examine his so-called 'meaningless' life. There were parts of this books that brought me openly to tears. I recommend this wonderful book highly!
Also recommended: THE LOSERS' CLUB by Richard Perez, A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens.

Summary: There's a great companion study guide too!
Review: I loved the Five People You Meet in Heaven, but I got so much more out of it after I read "Effective Habits of the Five People You Meet in Heaven." For instance, I never realized that Marguerite's name has a special meaning, nor did I consider the way so much of this book resonates with aspects of Scripture.

Effective Habits showed me why Mr. Albom's book is so powerful, and it did it in a marvelously clear way. When I re-read Five People with Effective Habits at my side, the whole thing became even more powerful. Wow!

Summary: The Five People You Meet in Heaven
Review: This novel alters the way we perceive life after death and shows that life isn't over when we think it is. We are shown by Eddie that in Heaven we realize why what happened in our lives happened in that way. We are taught that things always happen for a reason even if we don't pay attention to it when it happens. Even if a certain situation doesn't affect us we sometimes have an influence on them. For instance in the novel Eddie was a little boy riding a bicycle when a car almost hit him, Eddie didn't think much of it and rode off. From the driver's point of view he was so frightened that he almost hit the child that he died of a sudden heart attack.

Summary: The five people you meet in heaven worth 4
Review: The five people you meet in heaven was a very moving and touching story to read. At first I was just reading the book because it was the shortest one to choose form our selection for our English Class. But as I started to read the story I started to get into it. The only part of the book that I didnt like was at the end of every chapter there was a part about Eddie's birthday. This was interesting but I felt that it didnt belong in the story. I think Mitch Albom took the right direction with this story. The colorful setting and lively characters show how this man's live was. Through the good times and the bad he stayed true to character. I would reccomend this book to a lot of people. If you like a short very interesting story with a great storyline, then this is the book for you.

Summary: Only 4 of the 5 people were worth the stars
Review: The excellent novel "The Five People you Meet in Heaven" is a masterpiece written by Mitch Albom. The book is great, but I don't exactly think the overall message is too meaningful. The book is about an old man named Eddie who dies in a tragic accident and arrives in heaven only to find out that he has to meet five people who were impacted by his life and explain to him why and teach him a lesson about his life. The book never mentions God or Jesus or any other dieties that would live in heaven, which I find rather puzzling.
The book scores in many places, for instance Eddie's war experience is very captivating and emotionally stunning. I found the ending to be rather weak for many reasons including that there was hardly an ending at all. The book itself is also rather short and could have been a little more detailed. Overall this was a wonderful book that is sure to touch you and anyone else who reads it. If your religious like me though, be warned that this is a very strange heaven.

Summary: Rather Disappointing
Review: The editorial reviews made it out like this book had profound meaning and a lesson to be taught. That is a profound misconception. This book basically says that the only reason people survive is because death missed you and killed someone else. What kind of message is that. The ending was a little charming, but that was about it. Also it was way to short. I read the entire book cover to cover in only a few hours. I have to say I was expecting much more.
