Summary: Hobbits, dwarves, Orcs; the best telling of fantasy!!!
Review: If you want something to get involved in ((I mean really involved in))then you should definitly read "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien. He has captured a world none of us will ever see, and has brought it wonderfully to life. The on-going saga is wonderfully told in "The Lord of the Rings," the next three books dealing with Bilbo Baggins and his nephew Frodo. Read them! You'll fall in love them!

Summary: This book is the best book i have ever read
Review: I read alot of literature and i think that tolkien is the best author in the world any child that wants to read a good book should read the hobbit. even though the lord of the rings is good it is more hard to understand and is drawn out alot.

Summary: this this book is not too good
Review: this book is pretty hard to follow and has to many characters doing to many things at once. i suggest you dont read this book unless your a real hardcore novel reader. but most of all this book is very boring. dwarves and hobbits dont really inspire anybody anyway.

Summary: A good fantasy, but a bit confusing...
Review: This book had a good story line and plot, but it was hard to undderstand because it was written mostly in Old English. The best part was the part with Gollum in it. Read "The Fellowship of the Ring" after it to make it complete.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Spectacular in scope and storytelling!
Review: J.R.R. Tolkien, who invented 16 languages for "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, displays his brilliance throughout this wonderful book! Easier to read than "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "The Hobbit" is a must for anyone considering reading THE trilogy. Tolkien's gift for storytelling is evident, and his imagination runs wild as he entertains generation after generation with his incredible penchant for fantasy and wonder!

Summary: An awesome book... if you like fantasy-adventure
Review: Hi... I decided to write my own review after skimming over a few of the ones already here. First off, I just want to say that if you don't enjoy reading fantasy-adventure books, you most likely won't enjoy this book; that is just a straight out simple fact. But those of you who do enjoy fantasy-adventure books will probably find this a refreshing and entertaining book. So it isn't exactly full of deep philosophy, and doesn't explain the meaning of life, but it did allow me to escape the horrible world I'm in now and take part in a fantastic adventure that I normally couldn't.... and isn't that the point of fictional books??

Summary: Part of the TOP 10 best books I've ever read!
Review: 1. Lord of the Rings 1: Fellowship of the Ring 2. Lord of the Rings 2: The Two Towers 3. Lord of the Rings 3: Return of the King 4. The Hobbit 5. Fallen Angels (Walter Dean Myers) 6. King Solomon's Mines (classic) 7. Sphere (Michael Crichton) 8. Jurassic Park (Michael Crichton) 9. Star Wars Episode 7: Heir to the Empire 10. King Arthur (classic) Tolkein is a genius. If you're in the mood to delve into a whole new world and partake in an epic adventure, I strongly recommend The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings.

Summary: TALK ABOUT THE WRONG STUFF!!!

Summary: Childish and Annoying
Review: The Hobbit I found was boring and so happy it was annoying. The characters are so happy it's annoying. I like characters with a lot of back ground and I like many characters I can relate to. A bunch of identical dwarves don't do the job. They also don't fit the spirit of dwarves, but then again after time they evolved into the grumpy alchoholics fantasy tends to portray them as. All the characters were corny and annoying. Anyway, don't get me wrong about it. I understood it. I loved the Dragonlance chronicles and Wheel of Time which made this book look so childish. I've heard Lord of the Rings is much better so I might read that. It doesn't seem as happy perfect utopia where elves dance and sing songs all day as The Hobbit was.
