Summary: Great book for DnD lovers or beginners
Review: The Hobbit was a good book to me because i like different kinds of books that have DnD like material in them. This book will fasinate people to all ages that are ready to read a long yet good book. It starts out in a small community of hobbits in a place called Bag End where Bilbo Baggins and other hobbits live. One morning while bilbo was smoking his pipe and making smoke rings, a wizard or enchanter named Gandalf came and talked to Mr. Baggins. Later that night a company of 13 dwarves arrived and had a feast in Mr. Baggins house in honor of the band they made up to go steal back some treasure from abig mean dragon named Smaug. Smaug had stollen a sacred treasure from the dwarves long ago and Thorin, the leader of the dwarves wanted to get it back. Their quest was a dangerous one, they had to battle through ravaging orcs, quick wolves, dangerous spiders, and the powerful elves. They also met some friends along the way including a giant man who could change into a giant bear. I think the ending is really spectacular, but your going to read it for yourself. I hoped i have convinced you to buy the book and if i didnt there are plenty of other reviews that are better than mine. Dont forget the other JRR Tolkien books, there also as good and interesting

Summary: The Hobbit
Review: I am in 11th grade, and I just read this book maybe... September. Part of my grade in my English class was to come up with ten words out of our current books, write them down, and define them. We would then hand these words (with their definitions) into our teacher. There was a probelm, though. The Hobbit contained maybe one word that I wasn't exactly sure of in the whole book. This resulted in a bunch of failing marks in my English class.

The Hobbit just flows. That's really the best way to describe it. A third grader could read this, and yet an 11th grader is set to read it again. I read the Lord of the Rings trilosy, and while that was good, it was much harder to read. To get through them, you need to read all the appendixes and such. It was much deeper too. The Hobbit is light and free-flowing, and that's why I gave it 5 stars.

Summary: A Fantastic Fantasy
Review: Looking to be drawn into a portal that leads to the world of fantasy? Tolkien's The Hobbit will take your imagination on a wonderful, magnificent flight of fantasy and enchantment that it has never experienced before. Starting with the first page, Tolkien will grab your attention and reel you further and further away from reality and into this magical world he has created. This world is like none other, and is described right down to the mountains that surround it and the sky that engulfs it. Tolkien describes exactly what's happening in every scene and enables you to picture every plant, every cloud in the sky, and every character depicted in such a way that you will never forget. The storyline is so extremely fascinating and addicting, that you won't want to put down the book. Tolkien's attention to detail is magnificent, and his imagery is outstanding. The action scenes are extremely suspenseful, and they force you to read on in order to see what will happen next.

The Hobbit is one of the best books I've ever read, and I recommend it to people all ages, especially those who have an interest toward mythology and fantasy. Don't get the conception from the front cover that this is a child's book, for it is far from that. The Hobbit not only will titillate your imagination, it will reflect certain truths about the real world. The Hobbit addresses the problem of determining the "right" way for a hobbit, or any ordinary person, to live his life. Should one concern himself with great deeds and wars, and risk losing the humble perspective afforded by the simple life? Or should the ordinary person never look outside his or her own quiet existence, and risk ignoring the larger perspective that might have allowed him to do great things for the common good? My advice is to go ahead and read the book and see how you feel, for if you don't you'll miss the adventure of a lifetime.

Summary: Welcome to the fascinating world of Tolkien!
Review: This magnificent book is a must for all fantasy-readers. It is the first truly succsesfull fantasy book, and it introduces you to the most famous fantasy world, Middle Earth with all its mystery and magic.

In this book you follow the hobbit Bilbo Baggins who is accompanied by 13 dwarfes. They are going to capture their ancestors gold from the fierce dragon Smaug. On their way, they meet a lot strange creatures and dangers. It is all brilliantly told by J.R.R. Tolkien.

I recommend this for everyone who likes to read FANTASY.

Summary: Truly a Classic
Review: A truly wonderful book, and THE cornerstone for fantasy. A must read for true fantasy fans so they will understand Tolkienian references with other writers.

Kids will love because it is an easy read. Parents will love it for it is truly a good clean story. Adults will enjoy it for the historical value and amusing style.

The only thing I would criticize is the simplicity of the story. Too many details are left out for my taste (of course that is part of the magic, it requires you to use YOUR imagination to flesh out the story!), but I think that is mostly due to the looooooooong storylines I have read in the last 3 years.

Enjoy!

Summary: JRR Tolkiens World
Review: The Hobbit is a reallly good book. I liked it because, Dumgeons and Dragons like material interests me, and if it does you, i think you'll like it just as well. It starts out in a Hilly landscape in a place called Bag End. Where Hobbits like Bilbo Baggins Live. He led a normal life until a unexpeced visit occurs from a Wizard named Gandalf and 12 dwarves all in need of a good thief like Bilbo to help them on a quest to ... Smawg and get his gold. So their quest starts and they meet and fight many people, spiders, elves, and goblins along the way. The ending is really spectacular but you need to read it to find out. Dont forget to readd all the other J.R.R. Tolkien's classic books.

Summary: An excellent book
Review: The Hobbit was a wonderful read! The plot was facinating, though somewhat conincedental, like when Bilbo slips out of the cave and just happens to find the dwarves and Gandalf. However, there are many interesting word choices. For instance, hobbit originated from the word holbytla, an Old English construct, means hole-builder. So the first sentence can be trnslated to "In a hole in the ground there lived a hole-builder." It's a bit of a joke.

Most of the names in this book go around in circles like that. To find out more about that, I recommend the Hobbit Companion, by David Day. Anyway, this is a wonderful story with great description, and I recommend it.

Summary: The Hobbit was a wonderful adventure!
Review: From the first few pages, The Hobbit had me hooked. I couldn't put the book down, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have to admit, I ran out and bought the Lord of the Rings before I was even finished! Wonderful story and unforgetable characters. The ending was especially good, one that I did not see coming until it was upon me. Anyone reading this review at all should read the book most certainly.
