Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Perfect for any age. Review: My brother first introduced me to The Hobbit back when I was a little kid. He gave me the graphic novel, and when I saw the illustrations, I just had to read it. It is my favorite book, and I read it (and the comic) over and over again. The story just grasps you and pulls you in, and you have no choice but to go along (kind of like Bilbo himself). You feel as if you are a character in the story itself, and you'll be running around pretending you are a hobbit or an elf weeks after you're finished reading it.
Rating: Summary: :-) Review: When I was about 3, my dad used to read me the Hobbit every night. Since then, I was in love with the book. It's about think little Hobbit named Bilbo and this big adventure he goes on. It really opened my eyes at such a young age, even though, then, i didn't really know what was going on, because the book isn't really for that young an age. I love tolkiens style in writing, and i wish I knew how he came up with all of these ideas to make one of the be3st books I've ever read! I really liked the special collectors editions because it had incredible drawings every once in a while, made my Tolkien himself. I also like the Lord Of The Rings, which featurtes Bilbo's relative, Frodo. You HAVE to read this book!
Rating: Summary: An illustrated edition of the fantasy clasic REVIEW Review: I have several editions of Hobbit. This is just the perfect one, I was looking for introducing my young children to Tolkien. It is a FULLY illustrated edition, With almost 140 pages of drawings at the style of a comic book but infinitly better done. Rich in color and detail, beautifull emotions on faces and well depicted places, perfect consistency with the book. More than that!!!. It has extracts from the book incredible well chosen, from a narrator point of view ,including dialogs mixed in such a way that there is almost no missing point treated in the original work, so text and reading is not lacking. I have not seen this kind of book in decades, It is one of the proudest books I have in my collection.

Rating: Summary: Wonderful...imaginative...... Review: This book is certainty up there with my favorites. It takes you along with the adventures going on in the book, until you feel a part of it. It is wonderful and opened my imagination. I strongly suggest it, and the collectors addition just adds more magic on to it.
Rating: Summary: A timeless classic for all ages Review: What a wonderful book. We meet a little homely hobbit, who is talked into taking an adventure and becoming a drogon-slayer by thirteen dwarves and a wizard. Although this book delves into a fantastic realm with goblins, dwarves, elves and hobbits, the characters remain unbelievably human. I recommend this book for all ages.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic edition Review: I have never read this series of books before. "Lord of the Rings" seems to be a typical boys schoolbook. I remember my brother had it as some required reading in secondary school. My recent interest in the story emanated from the conversation I had with a couple of male friends, since the movie is coming out at the end of the year. I asked them what the main plot to the story was - their descriptions peaking my interest. They proceeded to tell me that "The Hobbit" was the first book so I was quite excited about getting a copy to read. At the bookstore, I was pleased to find this illustrative edition, which has some fantastic pictures. When I showed it to my friend he was very envious and wanted to borrow my copy...even though he just recently finished reading the story again. Suffice it to say that this further increased my interest in the book and story. The graphics really aid in imaginating how the characters look when reading the story for the first time. I have already bought the matching illustrative version for the combined "Lord of the Rings" books. I haven't yet finished "The Hobbit" but I am sure that I won't be disappointed and if anything, both books will look great on the bookshelf!
Rating: Summary: Classic Review: I fell in love with the cartoon version of this movie as a child. Now, as a teenager I can appreciate the book all the more, and I thoroughly enjoy every moment of Bilbo's adventure. 5 big ol' stars!
Rating: Summary: Not enough can be said Review: How could I possibly fit every glorious thing there is about this series of books into 1000 words? Tolkien is a genius and there is no way to deny that. He has managed to create an entirely different world, every tree, every creature, every nuance of language, every folktale; everything is on these pages that might possibly exist in middle earth. That I believe is Tolkien's true genius, his ability to construct this world in his head and to let us visit it, completely and fully for four glorious books. However, maybe that is not the extent of his genius. Maybe not because Tolkien also tells a ripping good tale throughout these novels. The prelude with Bilbo being swept up by a band of dwarves and being sent against his will to battle a dragon takes about a night to read, despite the fact that it covers over 300 pages. And then you start the true trilogy, and the ring that Bilbo finds which seemed like a neat little trick in The Hobbit (it grants the wearer the benefit of invisibility) this ring is suddenly so much more than a very handy parlor trick. It is THE ring; crafted ages ago in elven halls with unspeakable power and unfightable draw. Men kill for it, dwarves kill for it, everyone would kill for it and suddenly you are swept off on another adventure with another unsuspecting hobbit that covers all of middle earth and includes the fate of the world...all over this little unassuming ring that must be destroyed. The journey you take in these books will not easily be forgotten, here I am getting chills thinking about the epic battles between good and evil that spring up like weeds around the path of this little ring and Frodo, the hobbit who is charged with destroying it. These books are just wonderous, I cannot say that enough.
