Summary: This might just be the greatest piece of literature ever.
Review: Thought Shakespeare wasn't exciting? Found War and Peace too long? Do yourself a favor and read Tolkien's The Hobbit. Discover the magic of Gandalf, wisdom of Thorin and Bard, comedy of Bombur, evil of Smaug and the goblins, and, most importantly, the hidden courage of Bilbo Baggins. It's all in the Hobbit.

Summary: A true masterpiece, but unfortunately often misunderstood
Review: I find it interesting to note the similarities between the reviews of "Ender's Game" by Orson Card, and Tolkien's "The Hobbitt." For both books, the vast majority of reviewers gave them a ten, with a small (but vocal!) majority with... differing opinions. For those who read "The Hobbitt" in their English classes and were bored, I feel pity. It is obvious that these young readers did not understand a word that Tolkien wrote. "The Hobbitt" was the vehicle that launched the entire genre of fantasy, and when viewed with that in mind, it becomes evident as to why "The Hobbitt" has a great deal in common with many other works of fantasy. To put it plainly, other writers have taken Tolkien's ideas, and put them to their own use. For those who had difficulty with the place names, just remember that Tolkien was a master of the English language -- don't expect yourself to understand everything he wrote, especially if you're still learning about the language. If you are one of those who thought Tolkien's grammar poor, then... well, you're just wrong. You have to know the rules in order to break them well, and Tolkien most certainly knew the rules. Finally, for those who simply found "The Hobbitt" boring, I would suggest that you read it when you are older; perhaps then you will begin to fathom the depth and richness of Tolkien's world.

Summary: One of the best fantasy minded stories I have ever read
Review: I could not believe the content. At first I was stunned at the development, but as the pages went by and the lives opened up before me, I became more and more involved in the book. So much to a point that I literally could not put it down for fear that time, in the book would continue to pass, even though I wasn't reading. I recommend that if you like Tolkien, Jordan, or even awesome fantasy, then you have to read The Hobbit.

Summary: A nice children's book
Review: Let's never forget that, unlike The Lord Of The Rings, this is a children's book. It's quite a good one, but we can't pretend great literature from it: it was not its purpose. It may be considered just a prologue to The Lord Of The Rings, or a real novel itself, anyway it's quite nice to read.

Summary: Tolkien is a master of fantasy and a creator of worlds.
Review: I have just finished my seventh reading of The Hobbit. Like all great art, I see and understand more with each successive foray into Middle Earth. Tolkien's talent is indeed rare, for he possesses that much-sought-after skill of transporting his audience into a world that seems to be quite independent of author and reader alike. Indeed, one's impression is that this world has been and will continue to be whether or not he continues to read, and his position is that of the privileged observer. It is in every regard the most enjoyable type of story. I have no higher praise to lavish than to say that I come to love it more with each reading.

Summary: An enchanting tale of a brilliantly depicted fantasy world.
Review: Tolkien demonstrates his writing genius in spades in this captivating story of a dwarflike creature rising to meet a seemingly impossible challenge. The author's descriptions of Middle-Earth make you feel as if you are an invisible observer in the adventure you are only reading about.

Summary: The Hobbit is an amazing book.
Review: The Hobbit is an amazing book with adventure and action. It has a complicated, complex plot. The Hobbit is a story of a treasure that got stolen from a cruel dragon named Smaug. Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit, and 13 homeless dwarves are on a brave mission to take the treasure. But on the way there they face Gollums, Goblins, wolves, and giant spiders. So if you are looking for a non stop action book read the Hobbits

Summary: I loved the Book.
Review: I loved the book "The Hobbit", it is one of my favorite and I plan to buy "The Lord of Rings". It is a book about 12 dwarves, a wizard, and a hobbit (like a gnome), Bilbo Baggins, a normal well-to-do person, until he is called away from his normal boring life into a tale of marvel, where he'll use his wits to survive the miscievious, (not to mention dangerous) wilderlands on the way to lonely mountian, where lies unsurpassed wealth.
