Simply put, it was so engrossing that I had to tear myself away from it. The bottom line is that after reading the first half of the book in one sitting, I went out and purchased all of his works to date (Digital Fortress, Deception Point, and Angels & Demons) and cannot wait to see what he comes up with next.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: fast, fun, thought-provoking read Review: After reading this and Angels & Demons, I look forward to the next books in Brown's Robert Langdon series. If you have any interest in Church history, conspiracy theories, art history... even the roots of holidays and common phrases, these are great reads for you. Brown knows how to hook you, over and over and over... You'll want to start your own research, study the paintings and sculptures mentioned, read up on the Grail legend, etc. While Brown's writing style is pretty simple, the puzzles in the book will keep you on edge. I read both, so I see some pretty obvious patterns in his plots... I just hope the next Langdon book is a little less predictable with the arrangement of characters. Other than that-- this is just sheer fun!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Anti-catholic fiction: Yes Intellectual: No Review: I must confess that I found this book to be something of a page-turner in the beginning, but as the true motive of this book came to the surface my interest quickly fell off. This book is just your standard Catholic bashing dressed up as "intellectual fiction". Well, fiction it is but the intellectual description will only sit well with the "aliens killed Kennedy" crowd. Any doubts about the motives of this book quickly disappear when you see the author advertising web sites that also promote his anti-catholic message. Do yourselves a favor and skip this book. If you have any belief in Christianity, you will be offended by this fiction. Even the fans of outlandish conspiracy theories really will have to stretch their imagination to buy this. For those who don't fit into either of these categories, don't confuse this book for truth. It is in the fiction category for a reason.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Intellectual thriller galore...... Review: I am new to Dan Brown's writing but you can rest assured that I'm going to read everything he's written to date and everything that follows. The Da Vinci Code is a thrill a minute (thrill a page????) novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story is straight forward. Robert Langdon, a well known symbologist, receives a urgent and mysterious request late at night while in Paris. It is the French authorities who ostensibly need his assistance with a murder investigation. Taken to the museum, he quickly learns that he is a suspect. Sophie Neveu, a giften cryptologist (and we soon learn the daughter of the murdered man) joins forces with Langdon. Together they learn of a secret society that dates back to Christ. Believe me, the story is out-there. The story is filled with interesting characters and places. I've mentioned this in other reviews, but this book feels like an old 1940's black and white movie. It would be a great read on a rainy night. Dan Brown also raises interesting ideas about a number of other ancient mysteries. You'll love this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Truly amazing. Review: This book was awesome! It was an amazing mystey that kept me turning the page. Just when you thought you had figured it out, you were shocked again. I am Catholic and learned so much aout catholism. Probably the best book I have ever read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An Excellent Read Review: The Da Vince Code is one of the better books I have read in some time. Author Brown combines elements of the Knights Templar, Opus Dei, Masons, and of course Leonardo Da Vinci to build a tale of the Holy Grail. The grail isn't what you suspect it would be and the author gives the reader clues as to finding its real identity and location. I recommend it highly!!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: ludicrous Review: Don't believe the hype. This is a poorly written book peopled by unlikely non-characters who don't so much interact as impart (or ask for) information (or disinformation), while chasing after one another at breakneck speeds or making hairbreadth escapes. If you can stomache sentences like the following - "Everyone in the emergency room gasped at the sight of the half-naked albino offering the bleeding clergyman" - then be my guest. You have been warned.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: "awesome"? more like "awful" Review: This is a poorly written book in which unlikely non-characters chase after one another at breakneck speeds or make hairbreadth escapes, pausing only long enough to impart to one another unreliable information. I can't remember when I last read such awful prose. If you can stomache sentences like the following -"Everyone in the reception area gasped in wonderment at the sight of the half-naked albino offering the bleeding clergyman" - then be my guest. You have been warned.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Cranking up codes Review: Brown does it all over again: some intriguing ideas, good writing and a not so new story. For those of you who are fans, go ahead. As for the rest, you may want to either pick up a less convoluted novel or a real religion history book. By the way: some people could find the novel straightforwardly offensive...
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The novel of the year Review: At my local library. There is a guy that reviews books and he knows I like his picks. He actually walked up to me and handed me this book. He said this book is great. When he says a book is incredible his batting avearge is 1000. So i am 10 pages into this book and I am like oh my god this is great. I love to read historical books and I love to find out how things were named. You actually learn from this book. You learn about how Friday the 13th got named. You learn about Fibonuci numbers. You learn about the great life of Leonardi Davinci. Once you get to the part where he talks about the picture of "The Last Supper" and you go look at the actual painting. You will be amazed. Don't read to many reviews of the actual story because it will ruin the fun of this book. And after your done you can go to Dan Brown.com and his website has pictures of all the great museums and paintings that are in this book.
