Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: good book Review: good book, at times unbelievable but definite page turner. recommend this book for 2 reasons: 1) pretty good orginal fiction thriller (based on the nonfiction bestseller holy blood holy grail) that will keep your attention until the end. 2) makes you think to keep an open mind for EVERYTHING especially any religion and appraoch whatever you read or learn with suspicion.guess they are going to make a movie out of this now with ron howard on board.

I believe that any book that gets you to think about God is a step in the right direction. As I understand it, God gave us free will. I'll use my free will to read this book and arrive at my own conclusios. It's strange how all these staunch Christians have had their faith shaken by this one little book. Makes one wonder just how fragile their beliefs may be. I look forward to reading this title.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Clever, but Review: The book has a clever premise, but it is predictable (I figured out almost every "surprise" before it was revealed, and if I can do it, it must not be very surprising)and not that well written. How many times in one book can you interrupt the revelation of an important piece of information for the sake of "suspense"? It got routine and boring after a while. Also, the characters were flat - you never really got to know who they were, but then again, I never really cared, either.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: See For Yourself Review: This book was extraordinary. There. All my thoughts in four words. I rate it along with "West Point:...Thomas Jefferson" by Norman Thomas Remick as one of the two most extraordinary books on the market. But don't just believe me. See for yourself.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Everybod Relax! Review: I have read most of the reviews on this book, and I am glad I did so AFTER reading the book myself. I found this book EXTREMELY interesting and entertaining. It is fun to read a book that gets the ole juices flowing in the brain again. Like other reviews have said, I found myself putting down the book and running to the computer constantly to do research. It made me WANT to learn more about art, Christianity, history, etc. So what if a few of the facts are not 100% correct? I looked up on the computer what was important to me, and am enjoying all the new information and theories. It will be a fun topic of discussion and debate with my friends who are Christians, Buddists, Athiests, Agnostic, etc. It is a novel, not a faith deciding textbook. If you don't agree with facts, go look it up yourself and find what YOU think is true! If that bothers you, then go read in the non-fiction department. Don't get me wrong, I am a Christain, and am very comfortable in my faith. I think reading The Bible cover to cover can be more disturbing! Talk about contradictions...To all the people who gave it a one star vote, thanks for your reading suggestions of "The Purpose-Driven Life","Gospel", etc. I look forward to reading those too. An open mind is a happy mind.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Good Story--Loved it Review: Having read Holy Blood, Holy Grail and other similar books, I found The Da Vinci Code vastly entertaining. Dan Brown built a story around a theory that I liken to a legend or myth, or even a consider to be a conspiracy theory. Dan Brown gives it more academic credit in the book than I think the theory deserves, but that's part of the story. Some readers discredit him for not having his "facts" right, e.g. YHWH and "Q". For those readers I suggest, either they redo their homework or realize that "facts", especially historical "facts", have an innate illusory element to them. I enjoyed the wild ride in this book, and I recommend it to others who like mystery, action and a little mental candy.

Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: This Book Disturbs Me Review: I do not like the premise of this book. It casts doubt on Christianity and the true nature of God. It disturbs me that this is on the best-seller list, and that millions of people are being exposed to this rubbish. Your time would be much better served by reading The Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren. He describes the truth of Christianity with such wisdom that your life will be transformed forever.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: This is a best seller? Review: I haven't read Dan Brown before, suspecting that there was little substance vs. style in his writing. However, after seeing this book on the best seller list for so long I gave it a try. Darn it, I was right the first time. As I read, three issues stood out. First, all the research could have been done in two days on the internet. If the author spent more than that, it was not apparent. Second, character development was cartoonish at best. You could not feel sympathetic or engaged in these shades. A cryptologist who can't recognize an anagram? Bah! And finally plot development,as if you could find it. This book is similar to so many others that believe that excessive description will make up for a lame plot with overworked and trite devices. No doubt, Mr. Brown will make more money in the future, try not to let it be yours.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Brilliant Story!!! Review: The book has so many twists and turns, I just couldn't put it down once I began reading it. Dan Brown gets you involved in the story right from the beginning. Admittedly, the author draws on theories and concepts that have been written about previously by other people, but purely as a thriller, this book is very good. It is also evident that a fair amount of research went into this book. If you remember that this is after all, a work of fiction, you can really enjoy it.
