Summary: Made traffic bearable.
Review: This unabridged edition of this intriguing book kept me looking for reasons to go driving. I will also reread the book just to cross reference the history and art references. For the too busy Americans, all of us, this is a great read (listen).

Summary: Makes you go, hmmmm
Review: I'm glad I read this book before all the news hoopla came out. It made me go, hmmmm. I could only think that Dan Brown was able to make his points regardless of what all the other priests/scholars thought. As though they would actually admit that there is a conspiracy to keep the Priory of Sion secret and that the world should never know about Jesus and Mary Magdalene. I, for one, still do not see proof that Jesus existed, so by that notion, neither did the apostles as they are listed. As a literary document, the bible is a fantastic read. Dan Brown just takes it a little further. Makes me wonder that if Jesus existed, MaryMagdalene was an apostle and they were married then the Church should rejoice. I would like to know the truth.

Summary: Wait for the movie
Review: Clear out the cobwebs and dust off a place on your shelf next to the Celestine Prophecy and The Bridges of Madison County. This book will soon be taking up space there. Ever so often a publishing phenomena such as the above mentioned comes along and captures the attention of the public then drifts into obscurity. The Da Vinci Code is such a book.

It is poorly written with an agenda that is as transparent as the plot. As a screen play it may succeed depending, of course, on the quality of the production. Good casting could breath life into the one dimensional characters. Although I'm not sure what more Hollywood can do with yet another albino bad guy. A good screen writer might be able to do something with the hoakie story.

Keep your eyes open it will soon be coming to a theater near you.

Summary: Interesting, compelling, suspensful
Review: Truly a magnificent read that draws the reader in immediately and makes a plethora of complex historical information readily understandable and interesting---Not only for the religious symbology, but for a multitude of architectural and art facts. This is Dan Brown's greatest achievment with this book.

The prose is classic suspense, which, rather than dwelling on carefully crafted sentences and emotional vignettes, delivers the reader from one scene to the next. This choice keeps the breathtaking pace of Langdon and Vernet's journey on track throughout every page.

Interesting is the fact that so many "devout Christians" seem to find this work so objectionable - their attitudes and words mirror so faithfully the paranoid men of the church characterized in the Da Vinci code itself. Why not persue truth, or at least consider alternate versions of Christ's life, rather than cling to mythology?

Summary: Laughable...and I'm Not Talking About the Book
Review: The Da Vinci Code is the best book I've read in a while. It evolves from a simple murder myster to a race for the Holy Grail. Dan Brown does an excellent job of implementing art and history theories into the plot. This book is much more complex and thought-provoking than most of today's popular books. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Oh, one more thing. I'm a Catholic, and I had no problem with this book. I find it amusing that there are so many Catholics on this site that are horribly offended by this book. Lighten up, people. It's not like Dan Brown assassinated the pope.

Summary: The Da Vinci Code is not only the greatest book of the year
Review: The Da Vinci Code is by far probably the best book I have ever read. This thriller sets the hook of all hooks and drags the reader along. I couldn't put it down. I was on my computer researching the historical information from the painting just to see that they were true! Dan Brown is pure genius!

Summary: Awesome research!
Review: The author did a terrific job in research and in questioning some widely accepted notions in the Catholic religion. Just because of this, the book is woth to be read.

The mystery aspect of the book is fast paced and exciting, but towards the end it turns too farfetched. This is the only flaw I can point out.

Definitely worth your time!

Summary: The research is terrible - there is no truth in this book
Review: The research for this book is terrible - it is all based on total rubbish so far as any understanding of Christianity is concerned. No historian, whether atheist, Catholic or Protestant, or simply agnostic, would give this book the time of day so far as factual research is concerned. Yes, if you want a science fiction thriller, like Raiders of the Lost Ark, this kind of nonesense is fine, but don't believe a word of it as fact

Summary: Open Your Eyes
Review: Growing up in a strict Catholic household, I was taught never to question, but to accept what I was taught in school and in church. My older relatives believe that to be accepted into heaven, you must suffer in the present. In fact, my mother and her school friends used to put rocks in their shoes as they walked to school.

I recognize that this novel is fiction, what I took from this book was simply the possibility of an alternative to what I was brought up to believe (see 1st paragraph). History itself is really the perceptions of those who wrote the books, why not the bible as well? As a born catholic, I feel blasphemous for that comment, but why can't worship grant free thinking without fear of condemnation?

Summary: Supreme
Review: This is the book that stimulates learning in many forms. It forces a reader to contemplate beliefs and understandings on religion, politics, history, geography, mathmatics, art, technology, truth, lies, secrets and wisdom to name a few. The book is impossible to put down. Dan Brown is the ACE of authors. I recommend that everyone read this book. This is an expertly written book that will be discussed for a long time. It inspires a reader with a quest for learning that continues after you finish the book. See if you can finish the book without researching the art of DaVinci. It will be one of many things you will want to learn more about.
