Summary: Clever plot with a dose of suspense and mystery
Review: The narrative style is very much the same as in Angels & Demons (which you should probably read first) - with ample use of symbolism and wonder to keep the reader hooked. The ending - predictable in kind, but not in substance makes it sufficiently distinguished to make the book a worthwhile read. There is also enough substance on the history of the Christian religion to lure the reader into further discovery of this fascinating subject.

Summary: Fascinating story, nice philosophical interjections
Review: Expertly woven story, a real page turner. At the same time, the author is able to insert history and philosophical arguments without breaking the continuity of the story but rather enhancing it. What a master of story telling! What great insights into religion and history!

Summary: A Thrill Ride!
Review: This murder mystery set against a religious conspiracy theory wastes no time is getting started. It's an incredible page-turner tapping into religious history, architecture and, of course, Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings. I terrific holiday gift for anyone who enjoys plot-driven suspense novels! Don't hesitate to put down your money on this one! Also recommended: Life of Pi by Martel, The Losers' Club by Richard Perez

Summary: astonishingly mediocre
Review: Should anyone be surprised that a book with such a low level of artistry should be a runaway bestseller? Yes, I say. There are so many good books out there going unread while this junk enjoys astronomical sales. Go figure.

How can anybody take seriously a conspiracy that implicates The Little Mermaid? And if they are not taking this seriously, but reading it for the great suspense, then maybe they ought to branch out into the genre. This is really really low level mystery writing.

Having said that. I agree that it might make a good B grade movie. The kind that Spielberg had in mind when he made Raiders of the Lost Ark. As a screenplay it works. If screenplays are your idea of a good read, go for it.

Summary: LOVE IT!!!
Review: This book has reignited an old flame for reading. This book made me sit back and think about so many things I never thought of before. I too went online to do some research of my own and I couldn't believe what has always been right in front of my eyes. I have recommended this book to everyone I know. I wish there were more books like this one. This was the first book by Dan Brown that I have read. I have since read Angels and Demons which I also recommend highly. I am about to start another one of his books. I can't wait to get started.
Buy this book but take warning once you start it you won't be able to put it down.

Summary: remember that it's ALL fiction
Review: As a Bible teacher in Catholic and mainline Protestant churches and author of several books on the Bible, I get many questions about this book, so I had to read it.

All I can say is that one must remember that it is a work of FICTION. Any resemblance between actual history, whether of the church or of Europe, is nearly completely coincidental. The book has major bloopers of "fact" on nearly every page where there is reference beyond the immediate plot.

The "repression" of the sacred feminine goes back at least as far as Israel's prophets. The divinity of Jesus was established by the early second century as an article of faith, and has nothing to do with Constantine. The hieros gamos was practiced as a ritual by kings to establish their own royal authority, not by ordinary people. Etc. Etc.

Further, I'm surprised so many people find it so well written. The characters are almost identical to many stock thriller books, including, most recently, the popular young adult fiction series, "Artemis Fowl." The Grail story has been told and retold in countless novels, many better written than this book.

There is one way to explain the popularity. In the words of one of the book's characters, "everyone likes a conspiracy."

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: This is THE mystery/historical and overall best book of the season. If anyone has a better book to offer I'd like to see it. The book revealed many unknown facts to me, and made me reevaluate my opinion of the Catholic Church.

Summary: Impossible to put this book down!!
Review: Haven't read a book this good in a long time....it's a fascinating, well-researched page-turner that you will NOT be able to put down. Regardless of your religious affiliation, you will find the historic references to the Church, great artists, and scandalous periods in history intriguing and thought-provoking. Dan Brown is a thinking-person's John Grisham/a reader-friendly Michael Crichton. Also a good gift choice for people who love word puzzles or math challenges. BUY THIS BOOK!

Summary: Incredible book
Review: My husband bought this book for me out of no where, and mentioned that I might like it. I am not a big mystry book reader but WOW, this book was great. I could hardly put it down. From the first page to the last it captivated me. It makes you look at what you think you know in a completley new way. It was an easy read but the twists and turns really kept you interested. Characters were great too. I am going to go buy another Dan Brown book ASAP!

Summary: This is not the first book with this story
Review: This book is not the first with this story that I read, The Prophetess by Barbara Wood is alike but I think that this book is better, whether if you are agree or not with this story, this book will keep you reading all the time and you won't be able to put it down.
I can't tell you that this story ia real or not, but you really can? May be you will not be agree with this story, (I am not telling that I am, but I'm not telling you that I'm not) but you have to know what other people think about any religion and
think about it. This book is amazing in the things of the past, and what really happened 2,000 years ago is very difficult to verify, I think that this book deserves SIX STARS because is a book that will make you think, and as I said before, is not the first one with this theme, so the question is: why other writers wanted to do this job if it is not true?
