Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A fast, fun read! Review: I finished the Da Vinci Code last night and today took some time reading through many of the other reviews. It's very clear that if you like fast-paced thrillers with plot twists (like me) than you are going to love this book (like me), but if you buy this book because you think it's some non-fiction historical text then you are kidding yourself and you aren't going to like it, so don't buy it or read it. By far my favorite portion of the book is the beginning with its unique setup of the plot. I have to agree with other reviewers that the last third tends to drag just a little, but that's a minor point considering all of the just plain awful mystery/thrillers I've read the past couple of years from prominent authors. I highly recommend this book to those readers which fit the qualities I mentioned above. Also, if you like this book, you may also enjoy Assassins Game.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Another Blockbuster Slam Against People With Disabilities Review: I realize that with over a 1000 reviews for this book that mine probably won't actually get read. If you've read the book- or plan to- please take note that all the "bad guys" are disabled. Filled with words like "crippled" and "outcast" its so demeaning, I am a person with a disability and I found myself insulted and squirming with the horrible rhetoric and descriptions of having a physical difference. However you feel about the political, religious or feminist nature of this book- it really is just another blockbuster the perpuates that people with disabilities, can't handle there situation and are so emotionally vurnerable that they fall prey to evil, or are just plain diabolitcally evil to begin with. In the end- it is all caused by the selfish anger, greediness, and misguided faith of people with disabilities! How narrow minded can you be. Just think for a moment if the villians were jews, or black, or gay, or substitute another group- its like we've time traveled back to a Peter Lorre type character, hunched over and lurching in the bushes. I worry that the popularity of this book will brush over its fundemental problem, I hope a few people will stop, and think about how damaging this type of genre stereotyping is to people who are disabled This type of dressed up pulp fiction needs to come up with a little more complex character development. We've surpassed the days when its okay to paint the disabled person, who, unhappy with his lot in life, becomes either the ever faithful assistant (yes master, mea copa) to an able bodied genius, thankful for the crumbs tossed to him or the eccentric "cripple" academic whose secret plot is to take over the world. It worked for Dickens, Hugo, H.G.Wells and Marvel, leave that to the comic books- and give the world of disability a break and join us in the 21st century- you have a powerful medium to make a difference in the world. Use it for good and not to continue this blatant "ablism" that separates people, and excludes people from equal treatment in society.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great entertainment Review: If your faith is easily threatened then don't read this book. It questions common religious beliefs but makes the Catholic church out to be a business or governmental organization, which it is. The adventure part of the story was interesting and kept me reading and the historical analysis made me curious about the topics even after finishing the book.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Runs out of steam Review: I think the book does a good job of gripping you early with a lot of unknown trivia about Da Vinci, Mary M, etc., but eventually runs out of steam...Left me with a sense of what was this all about
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A great read! Review: A great read! I truly enjoyed reading this It's a rarity these days to find an author capable of such good storytelling. The story is well written and very engaging, and despite the fact that it lost some momentum in the middle, I found myself eagerly turning pages to find out what would happen next. All in all, though this is not quite a perfect novel, it comes close.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Stimulating and Fun Review: I got a hold of this book completely by chance. I did not know that it was a best seller or that is was hugely popular; as a result my opinion was not tainted with anticipation or reviews. I must admit that the book is very well written. The action progresses very nicely with very well placed lyrical interludes and history lessons. Being a history buff myself I was pleased to see certain obscure yet important facts being presented and discussed. Also, it was gratifying to see the explanation of our modern concept of the Devil being covered. The characters sometimes are slightly to cliché, however overall are well developed and portrayed. The only let down for me was the end. By then, if you are skilled in reading between the lines and catching the innuendo, there is no surprise for a number of mysteries become obvious. Nevertheless, it does not spoil the overall quality of the book. This book is interesting, thoughtful, well planned and executed. Anyone who likes a brain teaser with a lesson will enjoy this.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Way too many chapters Review: The worst part of this book was the extremely short, choppy chapters. It drove me crazy. The story line had a lot of potential but the book just did not deliver. I was very disappointed that I wasted my money.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Ho Hum Review: I have been really excited to read all the "religious thrillers" and looked forward to the DaVinci Code but found it slow moving and tedious. I just didn't care about the characters. If you liked it and even if you didn't like I bet readers would enjoy "Sacred Ashes" which is also available on Amazon.com. It was fast-paced and should be read by all who seek twist and turns in a spiritual setting. That said, Dan Brown should be commended for getting everyone talking about a subject that is at the heart of humanity.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Leonardo would have liked it! Review: The Da Vinci Code is a very good mystery/thriller, tying many historical facts and historical theories together in a modern background. Politics, religion, deceit, international intrigue, all rolled together in a compelling story. There are many unexpected twists and turns in the plot, and the reader never knows what will happen next. The book is hard to put down, and the characters are believable and likeable. A highly recommended book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good read. Review: It's a great book to read. You have to take it with a grain of salt. Many of the things in the book might not be true, but at the end you just want them to be.
