Summary: A very good older play in an easy to read format
Review: For anyone who enjoys plays of the 1700s and wishes they were in a more modern, easy-to-read format, this book would be a good find. Dryden's play "The Indian Emperor" is still fun today and his abilities to work dramatic rhyme are remarkable. Suzanne Alexander has taken the play, and added to it illustrations of the time period, and Dryden's "Essay on Dramatic Poesy" that I had not read before. This Essay was left in the old style of writing, and it is slow to get through, but I had not had the opportunity to read it before and so looked at the play a little differently. She also added a few of Dryden's epitaphs and some letters he wrote to the court. From what I understand from the publisher website, there are no royalties to groups to perform this which also supports the goal to preserve these older works. I liked this play. I think it would be appropriate for high school and college level theatre groups.

Summary: Very excited to read this wonderful play
Review: We have just received this book of The Indian Emperor and from what we have seen and read so far, it is a wonderful and very enjoyable play to read. We gave it 4 stars due to the fact we have not yet finished the book but felt abliged to rate this book at this time.
Suzanne Alexander has a tremendous gift in allowing the reader to easily read through The Indian Emperor and make it fun too. She has given us a wonderful opportunity to read this play by John Dryden. So, we shall go and enjoy the read.......
Will rate this further upon completion of the book.
Notice she has other writings too, think we shall purchase them as well. :)
