Summary: About Time!
Review: Finally some information about mythology that makes good sense. For the first time I understand what the artists of that time period were so desperatley trying to convey. I recomend this book first over any other book written pertaining to Greek Mythology and/or art.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: History and Religion based on fact
Review: I have been reading books on ancient history and religion for over 20 years. I have read many books expressing theory based on a few facts and much speculation. It was refreshing to read about a revolutionary theory based on overwhelming facts. The book is an easy read and extremely interesting. This is a must read for any ancient history/religion buff.

Summary: Taking History and Art Seriously
Review: I love the book. In Mr. Johnson's introduction he writes, "Education is not necessarily enlightenment. Education, in fact, sometimes casts a dark pall over the truth. We can be thankful that Greek art was not meant for some super-educated class: it was meant for all thinking Greeks. And that, in turn, means that we can understand it as well." He adds in Chapter 1, "Greek artists went to great pains to tell us who they were and where they came from. It's time we took them seriously." The author does just that in this remarkable work of sythesis, scholarship, and common sense. I'd give ten stars if I could.

Summary: THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX!
Review: I would advise readers to disregard the negative comments from a previous reviewer. Scholar Johnson has the capacity and the courage to think outside the box of opinion expressed by the vested interests of "the credentialed" and the so-called "peer-reviews". Their agenda simply attempts to discredit any honest scholarship, while glorifying the censored views of their own academic "flat-earth" society, but "credentials do not a scholar make". However Johnson, a genuine and heroic scholar, gets 10 stars, or more! BRAVO!

Summary: Mind-stimulating, and strongly recommended read for students
Review: In The Parthenon Code: Mankind's History In Marble, author Robert Bowie Johnson Jr. draws upon his own unique approach to combine elements of mythology, religion, spirituality, art, antiquarian classics, and world history to craft one of the most original, engaging, thoughtful and thought-provoking works advocating a kind of "alternative history" explanation for a post-Biblical Deluge association of Greek pagan themes and symbolism with the Hebrew biblical account of Noah's flood and its aftermath. The revelation that the Greeks knew Noah as Nereus and referred to him as the "Wet One" and built the Parthenon to celebrate a "victory" over Noah and his God, and in honor of the serpent-worshiping Eve of Genesis, makes The Parthenon Code an iconoclastic, mind-stimulating, and strongly recommended read for students of religion and Hellenic history!

Summary: DaVinci Code is fiction; so is this.
Review: Rather than being a popular, innovative work for the general reader, this book is misleading. Mr. Johnson is quite creative, but his ideas lack any firm basis in classical studies or biblical studies. Instead of revealing secrets of Greek myth and architecture, he is instead creating new myths from whole cloth.

Apart from having no apparent credentials or practical experience in classics and no peer-reviewed publications in the field, Mr. Johnson formulates what are effectively conspiracy theories that lack logical integrity; I am a non-professional, but even my avid amateur pursuit of ancient mythology and archaelogoy reveal the serious flaws in his books. I apologize to anyone who has been deceived by his work. In their place, I would respectfully recommend works like Mary Beard's excellent work for general readers "The Parthenon" or the somewhat denser "The Nature of Greek Myths" by G.S. Kirk.

Summary: Eye Opening
Review: This book is one of the most original books I have ever read. The National Enquire has been looking for Noah's Ark since I was a kid (a long time ago). Turns out he could be found in ancient Greek art all along. It makes complete sense that the Greeks were too smart to believe in what has evolved into the popular interpretation of "Greek Mythology". Their belief in the creation as told by the book of Genesis makes much more sense. This book is a must read for all believers as well as most non-believers in the Old Testament of the Bible

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The most thought provocative "CODE" book yet.
Review: This carfully researched document on the common origin of most western religion is a real eye-opener. What you may have thought was unique to only a small part of recorded history suddenly becomes clear and greatly expanded. This concise, well thought through and written book is a must read!

Summary: Surprising enlightenment, and answers to ancient questions
Review: This is a thoroughly researched, easily-readable book that cracks an ancient artists' code filling a huge void in our understanding of the ancient Greek world. The author's theory soundly explains the meaning of Greek myth/art and the magnificent sculptured works of Athena's ancient temple, the Parthenon. This is the first and only such comprehensive explanation. It makes sense. Greek art was meant for the average Greek. Now we can understand it too. Five big stars for the author!

Summary: Very New Thinking on a very old Subject.
Review: Wow, This is the most original and sensible book on this magnificent
piece of architecture I have ever read. It is very concise and complete.
Even the novice can understand it. I have been a student of the Holy Scriptures for more than twenty-five years, and to me this book makes perfect sense. It is truly ground breaking in its revelation. This Book proves the authenticity of the Holy Bible.
