Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Superinsulated homes covered in excellent detail
Review: I have read at least eight books on superinsulated homes. None of the other books covers the subject in detail as this book does. Several of the other books were written more recently than this book but seem to have information that is not as up to date as Superinsulated Home. If I had not read the other books first, I would have needed to read this book about three times because there is so much information in it. Each chapter presents one facet of what is commonly called "Light and Tight" home construction. There are plenty of pictures, graphs and charts which seems to be typical with any John Wiley publication. All pictures are B&W which in no way detracts from the usefullness of this book. Climate data as well as methods of estimating the cost effectiveness of various aspects of superinsulated construction is included.
If this is your first book on superinsulated homes, you may find it to be tough to read if you don't know the subject in general terms. If you have read other books on the subject, you will throw them all away after reading this well organized and comprehensive book. This book will be of greatest use to architects and persons desiring to design their own home. Contractors reading this book will gain a better understanding of how important small details are on building a more energy efficient house.
