Summary: Too much of the same, but still enjoyable
Review: As a former South Shore resident who now lives in LA, I was very excited to see that this book exists. However, I was less thrilled when it arrived in the mail. My problem was that many of the entries (the book appears to be comprised of local photo contest winners) cover the same subject over and over. I don't want 6 different photos of the same location (Jenny Grist Mill, Hingham Harbor, etc). I wanted more diversity. Also, there weren't enough house photos. The South Shore's architecture is truly glorious, and I would have enjoyed seeing more pictures of each town's outstanding homes. Perhaps a second volume entitled "South Shore Homes " is due.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: As a transplanted New Englander, I have to say this is a great book. I do agree with the previous reviewer that there are not enough photographs of the homes of the area. While a few of the photos are repetative, this book has a lot to offer. There is even an older photo from the 50's included. This book offers some really fantastic pictures of "Autumn in New England".

Good: Beautiful photos from local residents (in the forward of the book it says that there were over 600 photos to choose from)
Great pictures of the fall season.
Nice "blurbs" under the photos that give a lot of the local history.

Not so good: Photos don't showcase the homes of the area (no homes with the white and black chimneys that date back to the period during the Revolutionary War that signified to the British that those residents were loyal Tories)
No pictures of the blizzard of 78!!
