Rating: Summary: jcaviator@aol.com Review: Lloyd has clearly travelled well and taken some lovely photographs in his time. But this book is a showcase of his photos, rather than a tutorial on aerial photography technique. It's a big book, with glossy, heavy paper, filled with his photographs. He spends the vast majority of the book giving details on beautiful scenery, and his discussions with helicopter pilots. He talks about his son a lot. He even has a photo of him posing next to a helicopter, with no apparent instructive value. He doesn't show any of the equipment (there are numerous mentions of gyro stabilizers for example, but you're given no idea what one looks like, how it's used, or what it costs), no specifics on film (he says find film you like and stick with it), and overall there is just very little useful detail. This is a work for his portfolio. It's nice to look at, but worthless to learn from.
Rating: Summary: The Art and Practice of Aerial Photography Review: The author Harvey Lloyd presents the world of aerial photography in an easy to read and highly informative way. His illustrations demonstrate the art which he calls "three-dimensional chess" in a most brilliant way. Chapters on the art of photography illuminate how to make beautiful and lasting images. His words about aerial photography are poetic and filled with practical advice. Obviously, the writer is in love with aerial photography and is proud to share this love. I recommend this book to anyone who would love to fly and photograph the wonders of the earth.

Rating: Summary: A Splendid Guide for Any Aerial Photographer Review: The writer Harvey Lloyd displays a wide ranging knowledge of the art and craft of aerial photography. The handsomely illustrated book covers all aspects of aerial photography and includes a great deal of very informative text on the art and practice of photography. Attention is paid to self-promotion. It is evident that the writer has gone to great lengths to provide useful information and that he is inspired by and in love with aerial photography. A must read for anyone whou would leave the ground to see the world as it is.
