Review: Volume 5 of the complete works of Antoni Tapies, edited by Anna Agusti, is a sumptuous and thoroughly revealing tome in the tradition of volumes 1 through 4. The mystical, yet highly guided and personal iconography, both two and three dimensional in media, illustrates the unique painted speech of one of this century's greatest artists. Tapies works, reproduced in the finest presswork of offset printing, are multi-layered in symbolism, signs and visual metaphor aptly reviewed and discussed with the editorship of Anna Agusti. I, like many others, anticipate the future volumes.
