Rating: Summary: Errors and omisions...probelsm with this book Review: It seems that the auhors really cut corners in this Wow series book. As a loyal and long time owner of the PS Wow series, I was disappointed with this book. For one thing some of the action scripts do not work. Try the carved text as just one example. Second, the authors still have not yet deigned a book that is TRULY cross platform. If you are a Windows user, you will be dissapointed with this book. All efforts to resolve problems with the publisher have been futile.
Rating: Summary: This book rules! Review: Look all you people that wrote other reviews. Have you ever tried to write a book before? No! Half of you can't even speak english. Anyway, this book is brilliant, its THE most informative book I have seen, and as for Mr-I'm-soo-advanced, email me with links to your 'great' work and let me see why this brilliant book isn't applicable to your superior Photoshop skills. =P
Rating: Summary: My biggest regret Review: My biggest regret is that I did not discover this book long before I did. The problem with many computer books is they are too simplistic OR assume too much of the reader. This would be right down the alley of either intermediate or advanced Photoshop users. Beginners might have to read through everything a dozen times, but it would be great for beginners, too. The accompanying CD is also very worthwhile. Too many CDs have the usual pap on them (how many versions of Hot Dog Pro do YOU own?) but not this one. Very useable examples, very useable plug-ins and demos make this very, very worthwhile.
Rating: Summary: Wow is right Review: My granddaughter bought me Photoshop a couple of years ago. I liked it so much that I decided to buy a book so that I can use the program to its fullest. So, I bought the Photoshop 3 Wow. I believe this was in 1995. Well, just last week I decided to buy Photoshop 5/5.5 Wow book for the new Photoshop 5/5.5 I had just purchased. And let me tell you it was great. This new book has a wealth of information concerning the program. From the handy photos, to the tutorials, to the detailed and easy to read description of the new features of the program, it really helped me out. I consider myself a professional user of Photoshop (as is my niece who also thinks highly of Photoshop 5/5.5), and use it for my work with local charitable organizations. The Photoshop programs have become increasingly more complex with every new one put out, but because of these books, and especially the new one, I have not missed a beat. My thanks to Linnea Dayton and Jack Davis for their marvelous work. Go out and but yourself the Photoshop 5/5.5 Wow book today, you will not be sorry.
Rating: Summary: Mercution Review: Normally I hate to advertise for other people, but but I wouldrecommend this book for any Photoshop enthusiast. The book contains easy to follow steps on how to create some awesome effects in Photoshop.Combining these effects and the use of external images will give you enough power to create anything that you see in commercial billboards and advertisements. I have been using Photoshop for about a year now, and this book was by far the most educating out of all of them, who wants to know how to use the paintbrush, the pen tool, I bet you all want to know how to create those awesome effects that you see everywhere... well, this is it. This is what you need. If this book isnt worthwhile for you, I will give you a double refund instead. Just buy it, from here, or from anywhere. You wont regret it... Good Luck, and dont forget to search for tutorials online too :)
Rating: Summary: Where's the ImageReady stuff? Review: The biggest difference between 5.5 and both 4.0 and 5.0 is the addition of ImageReady 2.0 for web-related tasks, but the new features in ImageReady are barely touched upon. Come on! If you don't have the 4.0 Wow book (and what self-respecting PS user doesn't), then 5.5 is probably a good book for you, but it doesn't add any value to the earlier edition.
Rating: Summary: It's not for basic instruction, it's for playing... Review: The WOW! book is marvelous, but it cannot be read. It is like a treasure chest of hundreds of special effects and possibilities. I find it works best in the magazine rack for perusing during that regular personal time we can't mention here. It's too complicated for reference. It's just great fun --
Rating: Summary: A must-have for your graphic design library Review: There are a few must-haves in the graphic design world. One is PhotoShop. The other is a great PhotoShop book. This is definitely one of them. Cover to cover you find useful, easy to understand steps that lead you to a great design or understanding of a design concept in PhotoShop. It's great for a beginner to pro and there's always something we can learn from it. PhotoShop is one of those programs that one will probably never fully learn or utilize so it's always good to have a reference book on hand that makes it easy to produce the image you need. Buy this book. The CD that comes with is a valuable tool as well. Go on, buy it!
Rating: Summary: great graphics Review: This book has a lot of down to earth info, it's easy to follow and work with.
Rating: Summary: WOW this book is confusing Review: This book is confusing and not for the beginer, the content keep jumping back and forth, it is hard to catch. have to return the book. :(
